  1. Oooh, is that Chevy Chase in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation I spy? Cracking film that
  2. Love it & so does the Librarian
  3. Nice one thanks, good advice. Think we'll give it a go and go down that route then.
  4. Ok cool, will probably look at that route. Part of the thinking was to add to my techies CV, but learning on the job not a bad way to go! What testing equipment would you recommend out of interest? We've got a crimper and punch tool and one of these very cheap gizmos.. Is that all we need, or is there a Fluke one that would work better for us? Cheers for the advice though guys!
  5. Just wondering if anybody has any courses they'd recommend for my IT Technician to go on. We've always got the electricians or LEA to do the data cabling, but would like top bring it in house to save money, and hopefully improve the quality of the installs. I've seen this City & Guilds one - TNS Data Structured Cabling Training Provider Are there better/cheaper ones that anybody would recommend from past experience? Cheers
  6. Nice one, joined Ta
  7. Am I ok to join in on this at this point? Have a team already against some teachers here so on the site already, but didn't want to be rude and jump in late!
  8. Yup, what I was thinking too. Cheers - - - Updated - - - Yup, what I was thinking too. Cheers
  9. Morning, Has anybody else seen/heard of this site: top10schoollist.com Seems to be a site a very inaccurate information regarding schools, ours mentions tuition fees, an in-school hostel for accommodation and apparently we're outstanding Ofsted rated (we're rated Good) etc etc. Although some information is correct e.g. the Principal, email address, phone numbers etc.. They've obviously just scraped the information from somewhere but question is, do I email them to correct the information, email to ask for the schools removal or just ignore it. Emailing them, may trigger some spam bots or make us a target for more junk like this. The site is very poor English and advert riddled so would most people think it's a nonsensical site anyway and ignore it anyway. Just SLT are asking for me to remove the site (?!) If only it was that simple. What's people thoughts, anybody else's school on the site? Cheers Gareth
  10. How about one of these: Energy Saving Eco Kettle | Nigel's Eco Store https://www.youtube.com/embed/T_4QM7KT93w Like a 1 cup instant boil kettles, but also can do a full kettles worth?
  11. When I first started here, the school was using ICTIC - Independent ICT Services and Advice for Schools - Roy was great help, very good indeed and cheaper than RM. They mainly do the midlands - think there's only the two of them - brum/leicester etc but they may well travel to Manchester. Could also use the RM Partners site for a local partner? Partner Portal
  12. I know...Half a job huh... Didn't have time, been slacking off enough today already...
  13. What settings do people generally use for Aero/Desktop Composition Settings. Do you leave them as default or force particular settings in Group policy. Only asking because I've got a number of machines I've recently reimaged with a new x64 image and students are reporting when they've logged in that when a program is minimised it disappears off the taskbar completely. They can Alt-Tab to switch between programs. It's not every student, only does it every so often and sometimes during the same login session it will correct itself and start displaying the programs on taskbar. So proving a right pain to fault find. Only things in the event logs that related are: ID 9016: Desktop Window Manager - The Desktop Window Manager did not start because an analysis of the hardware and configuration indicated that it would perform poorly ID 9009: The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0x40010004) The machines are core i3 & 4gb RAM so thought that run Aero etc but perhaps I could turn some features off to prevent this issue? Any recommendations or anybody had similar problems? Cheers Gaz
  14. Ah... I see what you mean. I didn't even notice that had appeared, so many things on my taskbar at the moment! So disabling the tray icon makes it appears on the taskbar?? Very weird, and annoying. I'll have a look about & a play, but looks like a glitch and an email to Papercut. Sorry
  15. Hummm, your right that doesn't work for me either. Running the exe with the disable icon switch, "pc-client.exe --disabletasktrayicon" does keep the app running and hides the icon for me though. Any good?
  16. I assume this will do that, haven't tested that one yet though: -disabletasktrayicon The option tells the client to hide the task tray icon. This option can also be set by adding a disabletasktrayicon=Y line to the client config.properties.
  17. Just been mucking about with this myself: See User Client Optionsand User Client I've edited the config.properties so it starts minimised and with the hide balance turned on. I like the icon still being there, so I know it's running but I've also disabled them from shutting it down in the same config.properties options.
  18. Wahey, delivery arrived this morning, thanks @VeryPC ! Ruddy love it Need some cooler weather now :D :D
  19. I wish I could turn off the Silverlight version, but the other version is utterly unusable. It doesn't link with our Frog VLE at all, so no Frog SSO... Got calls logged with both MLS & Frog but no help.. Sold a VLE intergration kit which doesn't intergrate... The iMLS app doesn't scan books in correctly so can't use what would have been a very useful stock check function. The majority of the help guides online are all either out of date or incorrect! All this on top of the usual performance issues!
  20. Still trying to catch up with all the posts I've missed last week, found out I've won again and looking forward to further adventures... but it's now June!
  21. Eclipse.Net too, just moved to it - but yup not cheap at all.
  22. He did eventually get back to me via this email address - Dexter Williams mfsupport AT live.co.uk That was beginning of March, and he sold us a newly compiled version so we can continue this year, and said they've had a few changes but the phones should now work but looking now at the site it seems to be down... So obviously still going through changes.
  23. Haha! So Cool! Normal talking way for me! Woo!
