Any advice would be greatly appreciated with this fellow edugeekers. Other half is currently filing her tax return and we are unsure how to input any unpaid work. A bit of background: Other half is a freelance designer working for an agency. Agency has sold her work for say £2000. That agency has now gone into liquation, so that £2000 is never going to get paid. Can this loss be added to a tax return to reduce the amount of tax owed? If so where is it recorded? We have all the paperwork and it is legit so please don’t think we are trying to pull a fast one! This is a genuine loss. Thanks for any advice!

Morning All Not sure if I am missing a trick here (despite knowing we have done this the wrong way around) but we have all our teacher assessment data downloaded from the NCA Tools site in xml/csv format. We want import this into sims so we don't have to input all data manually but cant figure out if this is possible as sims always wants a CTF file. Anyone got any ideas how to do this? Cheers Rich

Sorry as title suggests. Can you freeze the latest versions of the smart interactive display. If not any other displays allow freezing. I know someone will be able to say yes or no very quickly as my googleing has been ineffective . Cheers

So having said that, you could have in your AUP staff may use personal devices for school related use under the understanding any school data will not be shared and responsible disposal of devices data will be adhered to?

What stops your staff copying the entire photo drive and sharing it on a torrent site though? Is it the fact the you have an AUP for it or the fact they are professionals who have been entrusted with the safeguarding of our children. If you were to be cantankerous you could say that by placing the files on a staff shared drive you are exposing those children to more potential predators in your school, rather than keeping them to one potential predator.... It just all seems so cynical to me.

Just playing devils advocate as I am not sure where I stand in this. But if their is not enough trust (once appropriate policy is in place in regards to security and destruction etc) in staff to take photos on their own devices then surely something is wrong? All staff at any school need a trust aspect or the whole system fails? If their is no trust then how can we possibly justify anyone access to sims record's/ access to photos on server (after all they may copy them to a USB stick) in fact should we even let them see children as how do we know what they are thinking? With all the right policies in place TRUST is still needed. If we have no trust schools could not function. If you took this approach to every aspect of school life adults would not be in schools!

Hi All New to replicating VM's so not too steady with it. Trying to replicate our DC VIA hyper V replication to an old server running hyper V. I'm purely doing this for redundancy by not sure if my current setup will allow it. Neither my main host or my old server which will be my replication host are part of our AD. They are just bare machines running hyper-v. This means when I try to connect the replication through Hyper-V I am getting a Kerboros error message. Is my setup all wrong? Should my hosts be part of the AD? Bearing in mind our DC is a VM? If not how am I meant to connect the too machines without kerboros. Mega confused at the minute. Cheers for any help

Just got 40 lovely Chromebooks. All setup and in management console. Got a couple of small niggles I want to iron out and not sure if they are possible. I have setup a few chrome apps which seem to install each time a user logs in. The most noticeable one is adblock which always pops up and says thank you for installing adblock etc would you like to donate. Anyone know how to stop it doing this or do I just not install it? Also each time a user logs into a different chromebook they are given a welcome to chrome tour etc. Anyway of getting rid of this? Lastly I have a message that the version of chrome I am using is out of date. I have them setup to download the stable releases, should I just be patient and wait for them to happen? Thanks in advance. I may add to the list as I go. As a whole though the install process has been pretty simple and they are working very well.

Gonna push the ICT angle more strongly as opposed to purely technical as I have been teaching ICT for a few years now and have several other school responsibilities. Girlfriend and I are both looking to work abroad next year for 1 or 2 years due to the fact we have just purchased a house and feel we now have a bolt hold we can use. Ideally we would like to move to an Asian hub like Bangkok, Singapore, KL, Mumbai and I work in a private school as some kind of netmanager / ict leader. Failing this I would be willing to work any IT job but really want a 'proper' job as we had promised ourselves we don't want to take 2 years out and work in a bar/fruit picking as we are past that stage and have got the t-shirt. In reality though we would travel anywhere as long as we could both get semi decent jobs (GF is a print designer) . The problem is I have no idea where to start searching + applications. I have found a few bits in the TES but it seems generally quite difficult to find websites and jobs that offer things in America. Would ideally find a recruitment agency that specialises in this sort of thing. Also if anyone is willing to have a peruse at my CV I would be forever in your debt.

I have had to turn off my recent GP which scheduled a shutdown of PCs in the evening. I have applied the policy to computers rather than users and it works as expected BUT when PCs/Laptops are turned on it adds at least 60 seconds to the startup time, and on slower PCs a few minutes. Is this normal? Should I do it another way? Any advice appreciated

Cheers very much Tempted with this 550ti for £50 though. Any positives and negs over amd vs nvdia for photoshop? had a look at 6670 and they come in at around £50 also. Or should I actually splurge out a bit more and go with the 7770 for an extra £20 . I like the fact i can get a fanless 6670 though.........decisions decisions
