lol @ alan-d @IanB i didnt read the article deeply enough to realise that, i wonder if you can read the state of numlock and run the script according to its current state?

lol tony thats cool, i recently ordered 8 latitude 610s with d/ports and stands and they sent the d/ports with european power leads so i phoned em up (got india, the joys of being in business land now ) and the guy aplogised profusely and said the power leads would be with me i na few days. I come in next day, i got 8 d/docks waiting for me! I then called them back up and they apologised profusely (starting to see a pattern here?) and said they would send me out the right leads. A few days later i get a bunch of fancy air/sea/car/pluginanywhere laptop adaptors so i cant moan... They still havent picked up the docks tho...

If you need any advice, give me a shout OverWorked, im self taught xhtml/css (from w3schools and google). A site I wrote for a friend was written in xhtml (it doesnt validate past my head tag becuase i forgot to add title tags for each page before i sent it to him) Take a peek at the source and see how tidy it is compared to html4

lol how many times you gotta say it Alan? but yes, the initial status of numlock is set in the BIOS but Windows will override it during boot. IanB, your solution only works after logon, to set the logon numlock status take a read of This article

i wouldnt really class xhtml as bleeding edge, its in its 6th year now and isnt majorly different from html. Mostly it just forces you to write tidy code, close all tags and use CSS properly. I would deffo look at using xhtml. As for the extension, i have never seen a site using the xhtml extension, i just save mine as .htm files.

Yup yup been there done that, if you google brother error 41 you get some rather big threads about it. As for the model numbers, im gonna guess at a 4820C being the culprit.

btw have you looked into what client cards you will be using too scotty? the APs are only half the wireless network so i would look at what cards you are using to make sure they will do what you want them to do, and as a side note, the Intel 2200BG intenal wifi cards support cisco aironet extensions (or appears to at least) which is a bonus, other cards may or may not. also, if you have any B cards you need to get them replaced for WPA to work.

got some MFCs at my place a i friggin hate em, cant comment on their lasers tho as have never used them but their inkjets suck. Got machines just outside of warranty with scrap print heads, poor print quality, eats ink at a formadable rate and get random "pls open cover" errors all the time.

I put a Cisco Aironet AP1231 setup in at the old place, worked really well and security wise they are very good (set up RADIUS auth, WPA etc)

Dont the procurves have http administration?

Is it a good idea to host that file for public access Geoff? It kinda renders BIOS password useless if you can just wipe them and if a kid gets ahold of the tool all hell could break loose.

Had a few VP6121s at the old place, were perfect for a while until one of them started to refuse to start, had to replace the bulb in the end. The I have one at home and its started to cause me grief too but im out of warranty so out of luck

When i had a major problem similar tho this (caused by a blown fiber module AND a rogue computer causing the same issue at the same time) i jus pulled everything out and tested bit by bit. I plugged in the DC (my DC ran DNS/DHCP held all the FSMO roles etc) and directly patched my laptop. I then booted all the other servers one by one and checked DHCP (one of my symtoms was DHCP wouldnt work), added in the external link, then brought up each floor, one computer at a time. It meant a 16 hour workday but it got fixed.

the NTFS default cluster size is 4K, an average cookie is probably only hundreds of bytes in size (anything greater than 0 but less than 1024 bytes appears as 1k in explorer, to see the real size you can right click -> properties it), therefore the massive difference in size.

Has gotta be a mac mate, ive invested in software she uses for college etc and tbh she has just got to grips with aqua, i dont want to introduce her to yet another OS and desktop

Hi folks, My missus is into putting pencil to paper and i recently loded up the GIMP onto my mac mini for her to play with. Looking at other posts about editing + requirements i thought i would start my own thread on the topic. I have just started showing her the joys of alpha channels and layering and remembered about a comment i read on edugeek somewhere about photoshop + rendering layers killing mac minis. To cut a long story short, im thinking bout buying her an ibook and a wacom tablet but now im thinking she might require something with more poke like a higher end powerbook. Any comments/suggestions would be welcomed

You know if you take a cardboard box and write "Computer" on the side. That is sufficent to be able to boot Linux on it. ) Cool. This weekend's project - The Variety Pack Cluster! rofl damn you vile.. errr nvm lol

What do you mean? IF you mean "will they both work at the same time without interfering with each other" then yes, it doesnt matter what OS they run or what hardware it is, its all TCP/IP. Well its a BSD based OS and X11 is an optional install, im not 100% sure (im no nix/BSD guru by any stretch of the imagination) how you would go about having a remote X11 session on a mac or wether you can do it with aqua at all. If you wanted terminal access, it could be achieved using SSH and a windows client like PuTTy. If you are more of a linux man, why not install gentoo? im sure Goeff will be able to help you out, as he is the resident "all things gentoo/nix" man here.

You can deploy WMP using group policy and this tool
