Are you logging in with your account or the domain admin account, try the domain admin account first and see if that works.

i would recommend a bluetooth kb and mouse, purely for battery life and range. I used to have a logitech DiNovo but i think thats overkill for a school. Im currently on an apple bluetooth kb and mouse and ive only changed the batteries in the mouse once since i bought it in october, the kb is on the original set.

for exchange OWA and OMA to work together you need a front end/back end solution so unless you have lots of £££ to waste i wouldnt even go there. For proof of concept tho, you have to disable forms authentication for OWA and change the exchange folder to not require SSL and voila, your PDA will work, but it will kill RPC over HTTP at the same time and the security implications of not enforcing SSL is a horror story all in itself... the short story is it just dont work right.

Sophos for me does a job and for the most part, does it right. The Enterprise console is a little frustrating sometimes when i can't see a PC even tho you know its there, rebooting the offending PC usually helps. Older machines tend to be the ones which dont play fair with Sophos, and a RIS sorts out the trouble makers (ive never had a Sophos install fail on a RISed machine... draw your own conclusions from that) The only whinge i have is sometimes the routernt process gets stuck in a terminal loop on clients and kills the performance (only seen it happen about 3 times over a year period across 250ish different machines) and i get the odd memory leak issue on the server (appears every few months at worst) nothing a service restart wont fix. All in all, for the price, you cant beat it. I am in a different situation to the rest of you, because i am now in the private sector, i have a choice to change away from sophos, and to be honest, i dont want to. Hope that helps.

Is it possible your firewall/proxy box is acting as a router for the 192.168.3.0/22 traffic, routing it back onto the local network? This would cause a big overhead on the router/firewall/proxy box and would mean all traffic would be going across the switch it is connected to. I do have a couple of questions. Firstly, how come you are using a 22bit subnet mask? do you really need 1022 IPs in a single subnet? Secondly, on your diagram, you have a the proxy and a workstation with the same IP, is this a typo? You really need to move the "old" equipment across to the new range, running it like this is not good, and it is my belief the only reason it is working is because the proxy/firewall/router is performing routing back onto your network.
