My old ubuntu box ran off of a piece of cardboard for several weeks

Wonder if you can ge tthem with no OS?, would make a sweet carputer with an add on GPS card and the right open source software

I just did it manually the first time round and subsequent RISes go on fine as the account already exists.

HP OfficeJet 6210s here, i get em currently at £125ish, no complaints so far apart form the ink costs.

Have you tried emailing SERCO? also i notice you are from Birmingham, LandCiT support CMIS so you will find you wont have a login for the SERCO website you need to call LandCiT and talk to them instead.

I buy all of my CDs for the reasons being discussed here, i own one DRM protected CD which incedently dont use (i didnt realise it was DRMed till i bought it)

I havent used it yet (dont have an intel mac yet just my lil mac mini PPC) but i think most of the issues will be down to the drivers being used so time will probably be the healer on this one as better drivers are developed for the platform

Yeah it still has a serial port on a DB9!, i like the media bay the best tho, if you have the optiplex SX chassis the drives are interchangeable, you can also use it as a second battery port for 8hr battery life on the laptop too

i recently bought a Dell D610 (Pentium M 740/1GB RAM/60GB HDD/Intel WiFi/CDRW DVD/3yr NBDOS) for £516 The build quality is good (im typing on one now and cant find any flimsy bits of plastic ) and is the second one ive had to use and have dealt with over 25 others without fault. Im sure you could get the price lower as im now in small business, and if you do a bulk order you can bend them more.

Those are the ones, I have tried allsorts on the laptop to try and improve the output but all to no joy. Ahh, those again! My previous post on these projectors... I think the early 6121s had issues (one of them being a warn you when its overheated rather than before it does and the "super blue" issue in XP). For XP, i wouldnt know where to start to perform an accurate colour profile setup, macs come with the utilities built in so i just used that. There might be some 3rd party tools that do similar but i dont know of any. I had issues with my 6121 when a fan bearing started going, which i just changed out myself and a premature bulb failure (1500 hours if i remember right) but i put it down to bad luck. For the price of the unit the quality i managed to get out of my mac was astonishing, but like i said, it needs colour balancing somehow on XP.

I had a HP VP6121 DLP and it was the best bit of kit i ever used (apart from the noise but thats a different story). I did come across the "super blue" phenomenon but this can be rectified by properly colour balancing your laptop output. I did this with my mac mini and it looked incredible. Match that with a 2000:1 contrast ratio and you can blow most LCDs out of the water...

You also might want to look at this article from BECTA which states you should not use a projector over 1500 ANSI lumen and should look at alternative solutions. Also, look at using DLP projectors with high contrast ratios as you will be able to see the picture much better.

Had the same setup as Tony at the last place, 10 aironet 1231s with PoE injectors, i made sure the cables were colour coded (green in the cab) so i knew they were running PoE, all sockets (and APs for that matter) were mounted out of reach of the students.

You should be able to deploy that using AD with a transform im guessing, saves the hassle of running it manually

Has anyone noticed the joomla installer is on that website?

why not apply the screensaver policy to a group with all the comps you wish to protect with screen savers, that way all the comps not in the group (ie the whiteboard ones) will nto have the policy. I do this for software installations so i can push out on a per computer basis (great for keeping count for licensing purposes)
