Its is illegal for a non-striking teacher to teach a student when they would usually be being taught by a stirking teacher. This is classed as breaking the strike and is illegal. I'm sure there are loopholes, like if the student is "supervised" and not taught, no work is left set. Then the student is not being taught, and the strike is not being broken. If you teach a student IT when they would usually have Art because the Art teacher is off, then you have broken the strike and it is illegal. You can get yourself in a lot of trouble very easily.

I have had a user report the same problem, very recently. The user is not using a mandatory profile, but I did recently give her more local rights. I had 2 errors originally, they were unrelated but one was to do with a reference tot eh local desktop (which was set wrong). then I have the exact same error as neil reports.

You also cant be forced to cross a picket line, but you can be docked a days pay but there can be no other action taken against you.

Apologies Nigel, i never spotted this thread but have been through the same problems you encountered before and solved it. Shockwave also has a habit of installing itself twice (two different versions) and not jsut updating itself like it was meant to, this causes a very similar issue, so look out for that in future.

This happens at Univeristy addresses all the time, we use to just send them back "Return to Sender", we had one bailiff even turn up one day, we just proved we weren't the people they were looking for and they were actually very polite about it and apologised for taking our time. Not every debt collector or bailiff will be polite im sure but the one we dealt with was. The problem is they just assume the person hasn't moved, and it is assumed guilt until they knwo otherwise. Like the TV licensing, you are assumed to have a TV and watch it and if you don't they get in contact with you (you dont even have to do anything to get nasty letters from them!)

Might sound like an odd question but are you UPSs actually surge protected? Because not all of them are, so you might even need a surge plug on a UPS believe it or not. Power surges on unprotected UPSs would burn out the batteries, you can ofcourse test these if you want, I'd plug 1 desktop and only a desktop into a UPS and then turn the power to the UPS off and see what happens. The new UPS might die instantly. You also dont mention if the servers have two PSUs etc and if they are both plugged into 1 circuit

Isnt there a company called Ergotron or something that specialises in these? Im sure we have bought a few mounts from them, maybe you should check them out.

I had sweets, and a pumpkin and I live in a house with a front door that peopel can get to. I even had the light on, and not one kid came to my house! Last year we got 1 and this year I got none, I'm kinda disapointed. Though I think kids upto about 10 is what it should be.

Indeed Dos Box, I think a seperate physical DC, also providing DNS with all the Virtual machine Tools on is definitely the answer. I was wondering if there was a clever way of solving this with no physical boxes as DCs

The problem lies with the Failover Cluster Manager, it would not run without you being logged into a Domain Account, so no DC meant to Management Tools.

Now firstly, this hasn't happened to me fully. But I have experienced a similar problem to what this would cause and was quite lucky to solve it quickly, but there must be a way of doing it. The scenario all your servers are virtualised, you have 4/5 physical hosts connected through switches via iSCSI or Fiber to a SAN (with all your Virtual HDDS on). The power goes off for about 30 minutes, meaning all your servers and switches and SAN have to be turned off. How do you get everything running again? I did similar to below: Switches SAN Hosts I then went to a Host, but couldnt login as there was No Domain Controller, or DNS or DHCP. I logged in locally to check the HyperV Cluster status, but I couldnt as I was in on a local account, Windows gives you an error message saying Domain Accounts only basically. I couldn't login with a Domain Account because there was no Domain, no Domain Controllers had come online because the failover cluster had totally failed and now couldn't be restarted due to the above errror. I looked to see if I could see the SAN through C:\ClusterStorage but it is inaccessible. What is the process of getting a fully virtualised cluster back online? If your cannot login on the domain, you cannot access the cluster setup or the SAN to start vritual servers and if you don't start virtual servers then you cannot connect to your cluster. All my virtual servers are set to auto-start, and I could ping between hosts, ping the SAN and ping the switches. I tried rebooting an extra time (cleanly) but this had no affect. Anyone got the answer to this, I assume there is a set method (which I will be googling soon) because this siituation is realistic and nearly happened to me. I had a physical DC available, although I was planning to Virtualise this tomorrow! Which i now won't be.

If you manually change the config file, then everything does work. Not ideal but it is the workaround I am using for now. I checked the permissions on the file etc but to not avail.

Am I looking for a permissions issue or something similar? I can remove the "Remote Apps" successfully just not create a drive or change the email.

I have installed HAP, first using the document which I had a few errors with, so i then went through the installation again using the video. The installation seems to go fine, except when I try to either remove the already existing "Access My Emails" either of them, I get a "Message from webpage" which just states "Internal Server Error" and the only choice is to click "OK" Obviously the link doesnt go, I get the same error when I try to add a Mapping such as the user home drive etc. Any ideas?

Yeah a battery of some discription is what we established. Though it appeared in my pidgeon whole yesterday and I dont know any member of staff who has anyhting with a raid controller, it isnt an iPad battery we have checked online.

If your drives are all hot swap then you can just pull out the 10K one and put in a 15K one. Then use the HP utuility to watch the array rebuild. I have only once had a HP drive fail and it was a red/ orange LED not blue. I've only ever seen blue when I have the Raid utility open on the server.

So as the thread title says "What is this?" Any ideas would be great. The pictures show an item that is, about 9cam long and 5.5cm wide and 4mm high. The item looks like it would fit within a PCMCIA slot but has no connectors for this. It appeared in my pidgeon hole in an anti-static bag with a disposable anti-static wrist strap. It appears to have a small circuit board on oen send, with a small connector, though the majority of it is silver, the silver bit is clearly well sealed and isn't rigid. almost like a gel.

We had stuttering sound on ActiveTeach (science I think) but installing the proper sound drivers (i.e not Windows default ones) seems to have fixed the issue.

We let kids use their devices on our Guest Wifi. The password is advertised throughout the school and the filtering is at "Lower School" levels so it is pretty strict. We also won't help anyone with problems getting onto the Guest wifi etc, it is there and available to use and that's it.

Your all lucky, I have many staff with over 15GB of stuff ina home drive, though I will be sorting this out. Our students also abuse the home drives to much because fo poor IT staff in the past not setting rules. This is now being fixed.

I thought it meant that the lessoons would be staggered almost like operating 2 schools within one school, to avoid clashes (say 20 minutes out), surely soem kids starting later then others and ending later still ends up with all kids in at lunch and inevitably a big squeeze. I prefer my idea of what I thought a staggered timetable was.

BBC HD is going but I read is being replaced by BBC2 HD, so we get BBC1 and BBC2 in HD at all times.
