If a laptop that is under PC World Warranty (that oen you pay for) isn't fixed within 8 weeks you use to be able to demand a new one as a replacement instead. it had to be a new one to, not a refurb. Atleast that was the rule when I worked fixing them. Now noone would ever wait 8 weeks though unless they had some super rare laptop and had used it as a plate for a Vindaloo Curry and then "dropped" it underneath a tank. And even then you would probabaly get a refurb in time, the funny thing about the "refurbs" was, is that they had to have the same serial number on the bottom!

Im suprised you didnt get someone elses hard drive and files if PC World had touched the machine (I worked fixing laptops for them, so I have seen things).

I believe ours contains something along the lines of: "School computers and your home drive is for school use only" Our translation is: "Fill our servers with junk and we can and will delete it" Ours applies to staff and students though, also if you use quotas you can easily enforce it. I remember a pupil once telling me they had no space left, so as per the routine we had a quick look in their home drive and there was about 80 pictures of horses, I asked why? Her response was they arent for school, I just like them. So I made her delete them all! They soon learn!

It is awesome (though can be complicated), I first used it a few years ago (through a dodgy license), however having used it and realised how much time and effort it was saved me I bought it, I did a 'full trial' then bought it! Definitely an excellent piece of software though.

Since you have no response here at all, I think your question may be best to be opened up a little bit. Maybe to "Are you using Frog by choice and not through the LA?"

We are taking teachers laptops off them and ensuring working desktops everywhere to save money. Approved of by SLT and the Head, so its done and done!

Well there is a "free" version but I believe there is a limit to the size or number of files it will recover for you, (can't be exactly sure though). However I can safely say that is a is an excellent piece of software, that I have used to recover files of a hard drives that make ticking sounds and all sorts. I used it only yesterday to recover a file from a flash drive.

I share my room with servers, old computers, toners and all other computer related stuff, nothing wrong with that. Well except the noise, the fact the aircon is pretty cold and you always fall over stuff!

Personally i'd just book it all myself and make sure I had good travel insurance (probably the backpacker style insurance), You then get more choice of where to go and when. My old boss did New York, Las Vegas and then LA (which he flew back from). He booked the flights first (as they are probably hardest to get) then the hotels, then any activities he felt like going on. I think he went for 2 weeks and did 3-4 days NY, 3-4 days LV and then the rest in LA (or nearby to relax). Internal flights within the USA tend to be very frequent and very easy to use (though not always on time), I've done a good few already.

The question seems a bit confused. Assuming you mean to make a cron job and then prove the cron job has run, then I suggest you look at making cron send an email to yourself? See this link Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, I believe that is a a regkey referencing an older version fo Office though, as for me, using Office 2010, the actual version is 14.0. Although the common folder does exist, the Internet within it does not. Edit: However after further reading, Microsoft actually having a post recommending creating this subkey to fix a different issue, i'll create one and hope it resolves the issue.

You know if you ring them and say you've binned it they usally don't care. I refused to send a few things back to them and told them that there warranty stated they would either fix my product on site or come and collect it to fix it for me. They were asking me to fix it for them, saving them the work, so I wasn't willing to spend even more of my time shipping cheap parts back. They jsut said ok, and left me to it.

We use Global, they were the cheapest but we area local to one of their data centres. Never except the first price as the final price. As for leaving the LA you dont have to, but we found the LA were actually more expensive over a 3 year period.

I thought it was a DNS lookup that Windows used to test Internet access, when you set the IP did you make your router, or even a OpenDNS IP, the IP adddress of the DNS server?

I have tested, on my one desktop disabling the trusted locations function in Word, Excel and powerpoint 2010, this has to be done on each program individually. I'll check the GPO options or this later. I use to have massive delays and problems login boxes with powerpoint files more then anything else (probably pictures from external sites causing this). I have disabled this feature and am currently testing opening documents from multiple causes, all excel, word, powerpoint or pdf documents. When using Internet Explorer, most documents ask for your credentials a second time, but if you hit cancel it works fine. When using Firefox though, all documents download and open straight away, no credentials are asked for. I'm going to try more changes though today if I have time, and may force this change out as it seems to have stopped the credentials boxed being asked for more then once like it use to.

This is definately an Office 2010 Issue, I am determined to solve it.

From my limited experience in lincolnshire, the public transport wasn't great between places because its so rural.

Educating the staff is a big issue to, we use to ahve our reports printed by a member of staff on a dekstop printer, it took literally 10 hours to print them! After a kind word,she now prints them on the big Photocopier instead, costs about 1/10 of the price and took 45 minutes. If that isn't money saved I don't know what is.

I would but 100s of 1GB sticks, then have 2x1GB in each machine. using 2GB and 512mb gives you more RAM, but im one for pairs of RAM, its faster (not massivley but faster), but as always depends on the cost of 1x2GB compared to 2x1GB. No point paying double for the same result. I would also check the speed of the current RAM to the best the board supports, as you dont want new RAM slowed down by an old 512mb stick.

We actually plan to update our smartboards when we have updates waiting, usually every few terms it is necessary. Lazy to not do it? No I dont think people are so but I see it as routine like cleaning projector filters now tbh, a job that just needs doing.

Tracker is expensive, thats why all the cars on the list are expensive. I bet the top few still includes Vauxhall Corsa, Nissan Micra really.
