Hello! For some reason and for some users (including the new account i just created and tested) the windows 7 classic theme seems to get applied at logon. Has anyone seen this or heard of it? I've seen similar things before where it was down to corrupt profiles. Only thing is, ours arent shared or roaming. They are local. App Data is also redirected to the users home drive (to solve an adobe Acrobat bug that we had) Cheers!

SharePoint 2010 - How do you organise your documents?
craigg replied to craigg's topic in Enterprise Software
Excellent. Thank you for the reply. I've taken on the no folders approach as well and it was from there that my above thoughts came from. I've already started to build up a term store so might have another bash at it. Cheers! -
Morning guys, We are just about to roll out our sharepoint deployment and i'm wondering how people who are already using the platform are organising their documents? I'm unsure whether using content types & managed meta data is going to over complicate things for staff. Any info would be great. Cheers Craig

Hi Guys, After a good stint in my current role my feet are starting to get itchy and i feel it's time for me to move up the food chain - with the next logical step being to move into a network manager type of role. I have five years experience in IT ranging from desktop to infrastructure support. Currently I am working with Server 2008 R2 environment complimented by a VmWare solution and HP server technology. We support around 1800 users and 600 machines + laptops and iPads. If anyone knows of anything going nearby I’d be grateful for the heads up. Thank you Craig

Hi Guys, Just had a call off a friend who was asking about decent web hosting. He is after something relatively cost effective, that comes with joomla or a similar CMS. What do you recommend? My host is currently 3ix - They are OK but not the best... so i wouldnt recommend it as an option. Cheers!

Has anyone managed to register for updates through this site? Endian - *Register EFW Community* It just sends me a blank email from [email protected] (after I white listed it). Am i missing something?

@ihaveaproblem When you set up your smoothwall box did it go straight out to the internet or did you have to go through your existing firewall?
-
Money is very tight unfortunatly. We have looked into upgrading the firewall already but have had the powers from above deny our requests. Really appreciate your replys though guys. I'm guessing something like Endian would do the same as smoothwall? Thanks

Hello guys! Hopefully someone with a Meru system can help out here. I'm having a nightmare getting our student and guest ESS profiles working. Ill give you the run down.. We currently have three security profiles each with its own ESS profile and VLAN. college domain college student and college guest College domain works fine. We have a radius server set up on the network and it authenticates users that are in the \AuthenticatedUsers windows group. College student works fine up to a certain point. I have configured the radius for web authentication and am using the captive portal. Clients can authenticate with no issues and connect to the wireless network vlan. My issue is that I can't seem to get it to do the next hop (to the internet). If I manually enter the proxy server into IE, and set an exeption for the vlan Network address (10.0.92.*) http traffic is pushed through the proxy and the users can access the internet just fine. The only problem is management want to to be a seamless experience for students. I.E. they dont want them having to enter the proxy address everytime they want to get on the internet? How can I get arround this? I'm going a bit mad trying to work it out. The unfortunate thing is our firewall is about 1000 years old and doesn't have capacity for a blue network card. So it kind of rules out that... Otherwise life would be simple. We have a Barracuda 610 web filter and I "think" you can route traffic through it so that it is filtered and then routed to the correct gateway from there. I have also been told that it will filter the content as well. Then on from there we will need to configure ACLs on the core switch to stop them finding their way arround the network. Has anyone done this? Or something similar? Hope you can help. Craig

[sccm 2007] Using MDT Roles with SCCM 2007 R3 - Help!!
craigg replied to craigg's topic in O/S Deployment
Thanks for the reply. That seems like the best idea at the moment. I was just trying to avoid re-doing what i'd already done with MDT! I'll let you know how I get on! -
Hello! I have an SCCM server with MDT intergrated which is working as it should.. The one thing I can not get my head arround is getting the SCCM Windows Deployment Task Sequence to install the Roles - Which in my case contain applications. It is picking up things like Computer Name from the database just not the above. I'm pretty sure my CustomSettings.ini is OK - but here it is... [settings] Priority=CSettings, CRoles, RApps, RPackages, Default [Default] DoCapture=NO ComputerBackupLocation=NONE BDEInstallSuppress=YES TimeZone=85 TimeZoneName=GMT Standard Time KeyboardLocale=0809:00000809 UserLocale=en-GB InputLocale=0809:00000809 SystemLocale=en-GB UILanguage=en-US WSUSServer=http://luke.cadcol.ac.uk.local:8530 [CSettings] SQLServer=sqrll Database=MDT Netlib=DBNMPNTW SQLShare=logs$ Table=ComputerSettings Parameters=UUID, AssetTag, SerialNumber, MacAddress ParameterCondition=OR [CRoles] SQLServer=sqrll Database=MDT Netlib=DBNMPNTW SQLShare=logs$ Table=ComputerRoles Parameters=UUID, AssetTag, SerialNumber, MacAddress ParameterCondition=OR [RApps] SQLServer=sqrll Database=MDT Netlib=DBNMPNTW SQLShare=logs$ Table=RoleApplications Parameters=Role Order=Sequence Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Updating the Distribution Share.. Is this possible? I currently role out CS4 with MDT once the machine has imaged. It would be great if it was possible to update the distribution share so any new images roled out with CS4 on will have the latest patches installed. Has anyone done this? Cheers guys!
