An image takes mew about 4 days to make. But then i make it at the start of the holiday with little interruption and knowing what PCs it is to be used on. Surely if you activated it, then sysprep would jsut remove the key again and that wouldnt be an issue?

I bought a house with my other half about 3 years ago (so during the recession) with a 10% mortgage and no money lent from our parents. However, we have a distinct advantage compared to a lot of people in this thread, both working and no children. Now I don't know exactly how much children cost, but I am imaging they cost enough to make saving for a deposit difficult. As for getting a renovation project, we did. Don't worry about what people say about mortgage not touching them, a mortgage company never sees the place, a surveyor does. I got a house that was on the market for 100k for 85k, as long as the surveyor thinks it is worth what you are offering then a mortgage company doesn't care. Don't be disheartened by people telling you how hard it is to get on the property ladder, you got to do the leg work yourself sometimes to. My other half was a postgraduate student (with a tax free stipend for research), all mortgage brokers told us no one would recognise that income so they wouldn't lend us money. I didn't believe no one would and got a mortgage directly myself, with my first question as I rung round places being regarding this income. It was probably a lot more effort then using an adviser but I am better for it. I know exactly what is going on etc. Also remember buying a house is for the long term and can take months anyway. You need to speak to a company and work out what they would lend you if you had a 10% deposit, then your problem is finding a house and getting the deposit together, you don't need to provide proof of deposit till you are actually getting the money from the mortgage company. Then obviously you need the money when you are asked to transfer it.

I think it is a bug, but having googled it, and seen the freelance results, I wouldn't worry as they all seem to come back to the same request for help. Maybe you are just unlucky.

speckytecky, we just disable LogMeIn unless there is a need to have it enabled, I.E. we have rung up to get a problem resolved. LogMeIn does also log every time someone connects to your computer so you can check when they have been working on it. My other trick is, if you have Virtual machines, then I watch my MIS server through Virtual Machine Manager, so I can see what they are doing anyway.

How are they getting passed your proxy anyway? Surely a standard setup is you go through the proxy or you get no Internet Access? So they would have no reason to try and install Firefox anyway. Secondly group policy is not useless, block them running files except if they are in certain locations. Then they can't run the Firefox installer anyway.

How long is a piece of string? If the school has ever purchased a license in its own name (even 25 years ago) then you can transfer the license to the new company. The license charge is on top of the annual charge as far as I am aware, as to how much your annual charge and license charge is, that depends on the modules you own/ use. The more modules the more cost. Recently there was a post regarding license transfer and EU law butnoone has ever challenged it in the UK.

The choice is entirely up to you. SIMS is better at some things, Progresso others etc etc.. They are also all bad at things, it will be entirely personal preference. Costs are also another issue, SIMS is expensive, especially with SLG and this is where the competition should always win. But then in theory you are paying more for a better more reliable product, whether this is true is practice I doubt anyone knows or there is any way to really compare downtime between systems for example.

We have 2 Smart LightRaise Projectors in. They are not laggy, when comparing to a Smart Board, and the pens don't seem neither heavy or fragile.

I don't want to take this thread off topic but with Sims as an Remote App, staff here have a tendency to run reports that require word which the web app can't handle and freezes because it is calling Word and failing I believe. So our staff can do either remote in or use a webapp. Also i didn't mention it earlier but get the R510 with the 6 core, 12 thread processors if you want to cluster in the future.

No they don't need to be identical. They do need to be the same processor supplier though, so you can't cluster an AMD box and an Intel one or so I have read. I have HP 380s G5-G8 all in one cluster and they fail over fine.

Well our local LA are enforcing no documents can be taken off site, or sent to a none gov.uk email address unless encrypted and password protected etc. Given the lengths they are going to in this respect, storing documents (because that is what people will be doing) on iCloud seems to me like a total contradiction of this policy. Also unless Apple have changed there policies as far as I was last aware, your documents were not guaranteed to stay within the EU which contravened EU laws for document storage for businesses/ public organisations. Apple devices are still targeted at non-business customers, so as a result iCloud isn't a problem. As I said I don't know if Apple have changed this. So popularity of iDevices might be increasing, but the EU Data protection law is actually catching up, I believe Google Business accounts now store your data within the region you are from to comply with this law. Just be prepared for the LA to say similar to what I have posted.

So we now have two Smart Projectors in the school. What can I say about them, they are much better then the Hitachi one we trialled. They work using Infra-Red, which means they don't need calibrating as such like a board does. The projector detects where the infra-red is on the wall/ whiteboard and moves it accordingly. Although we don't have the problem of the wall shaking, I would imagine that using infra-red like this means that shaking isn't a major issue. All in all I am actually very impressed so far, and so are the teaching staff that have tried them. They have a HDMI in for those lovely Apple TVs. The downsides are, the pens need charging via a USB, they are meant to last 20 hours off a 2 hour charge. But since you only get one pen with each projector, the staff have to remember to charge them. The pen holder/ box effort they provide feels cheap, and although it has a gap so you can dangle a cable into it, I think they should have basically made it a charger like an electric toothbrush where it just slots into place, plugging in a USB is stupid. The pens are also ~£100 to replace and although they look pretty sturdy, pens being lost or broken is still an issue. The cost of them also puts me off having "spares" just sat around. Your also only get a 3 year warranty, not the standard 5 like SmartBoard.

Then your best bet is default apply a software restriction to most common USB drive letter, so D:, E: etc to stop .exe files, it isn't pretty but it would work. If would also stop self contained exe files (I think Minecraft is a good example here)

Surely a user is restricted from installing software because they are not an administrator of the computer (or does Spotify not need admin rights either?) If it doesn't then software restriction on e: drives etc would stop it.

Sounds like a "grant exclusive rights" issue, where admins are by default locked out.

The chances are: 1) No one has challenged Capita properly, or those that have haven't had to pay. 2) No one in the LEA or Capita knows about the laws (highly likely)

Sony Vegas might be cheap but is a nightmare to deploy! As for the argument about the industry standard, we have both installed and pupils choose which to use. Some cannot grasp using Adobe products and prefer Serif, others prefer Adobe. If our pupils were all forced to use Adobe, then i imagine the average grade would decrease, if they were all forced to sue Serif then I imagine the top grades might decrease. it's down to two things, cost and then personal preference. Most of the students won't ever do more video editing then that they learn in school, so the industry standard won't apply for them. The ones that will go on to video edit, I feel sorry for as well as by the time they get there we'll be on to Adobe 10 at the rate Adobe are publising!

Go visit European houses, go look at the plug sockets. Whether Wikipedia claims they definitely do or not isn't reality. Maybe they ignore the rules, I can't prove it either way, but I have family who live there in a new build with none earthing sockets. Heck they put real candles and light them on the Christmas trees, sure it may be a fire hazard but they still do it. In the UK you would get a torrent of abuse for that to. Edit: Sometimes you have to except that what people say happens and what happens are not the same... Like all those people that never speed, like those people who only ever go up a ladder after being "trained" to.

I can cope with flicking an RCD switch... I am stating we are taking to many precautions, if very few countries see this as a problem then it probably isn't a real problem. I drive a car everyday, I have more chance of dying doing that they some random appliance killing me. Avoiding real dangers is worth it, wasting time and money avoiding the tiny dangers is not. I worry about being electrocuted by my appliances about as much as I do an asteroid hitting the earth.

In the UK we earth everything, yet in most of Europe they earth nothing! So as much as earthing things can be good if they do go wrong, clearly not everything need earthling all the time, as have an obsession with earthing electrics, even your lights need earthing nowadays. Yet in Germany (probably a more modern country then here) you don't need to earth anything. Clearly the issue is important but we earth do to much and have to many regulations or maybe we are just clumsy compared to Germans

Same as above, took a while then patched to fix, they to blamed everything else. To make it worse they gave us version 5.00 then released another version called 5.00 and had a go at me, for being on the wrong version of 5.00, how was I meant to know it was a new release when they kept the same version number.

It might well be permissions to the script for the teachers. I assume your script is on a share.
