We use Xibo but we have a lot of screens with different info in different areas I have used other solutions in the past for simpler settings. The best answer I have found to getting content off staff is to ask for the content on a powerpoint slide even if this is not the format used for the display. The staff can not reasonably say that they can't do a powerpoint slide and no one can then argue about the format as it is already in a display layout, I find exporting the PowerPoint as a video or image is a lot less painful than trying to make someone's notes and random files into a usable display. Crediting people for the slide also makes them more aware of the aesthetics.

There may be a reputation hit from these action but if they are proven to be the injured party a MAT has broken the procurement policies. This would put Bromcom in the same place as a NM or DPO struggling to enforce security policies not money grubbing.

If organisations are cheating on a procurement, they are not doing that in the best interest of taxpayers and what else are they cheating on?

When I worked in an independent school we had three ISI inspections and the ISI sent a specification of the IT access required, it wasn't much, I think guest wireless and access to a printer covered it but it was very helpful that they laid it out so clearly.

We do the same here and we have a mail flow rule that only allows email to students from a hand full of senders.

I want to expand our BYOD but I have real problems with the certificate for HTTPS inspection, I can not find a way to make it easy for the users to install the stumbling blocks are: 1 Users if it is even slightly difficult they don't like it 2 Distribution of the cert, web is obviously difficult before it is installed, we don't allow BYOD access the the file shares and outlook doesn't like certificate files and throws all sorts of warnings How do you overcome the certificate issue?

I have used this in the past and found it quite good.

I would not stop taking a back before patching you have no control over the the backup run during the process and it could potentially not be run before a patch due to a problem with the script however, I would not hold onto these back ups for long as they are becoming stale and should be available to be recovered from your scheduled backups if required.

This is all the more reason for moving to a policy of unique identifiers rather than using the students name.

I hadn't considered deadnameing and I should have, this backs up my opinion that a policy such as @3s-gtech or @Claireq is the best way forwards. A username is an identifier for the computer not a declaration of a person's name and a anonymous unique identifier is a far more elegant solution we can change display names and email aliases without affecting the underlying account The reason we stick with legal names is that with the increase of SSO and links between systems changing a username can become an involved and disruptive process. I have seen preferred names changed several times over the course of a students time in school. I think it is time to review this policy. .

Our usernames are {2 Digit Intake Year}{First 1 of Legal Forename}{Legal Surname}{number to avoid collision if required} Things I have learnt over the years setting up usernames: Drop non alphabetical characters such as apostrophes, hyphens or spaces Drop any accents on users names such as ö becomes o Truncate usernames at 20 characters max 10 is better Use the cohort intake year not the student's start year It doesn't matter if you use legal or preferred names it will cause confusion so go with legal Whatever you do someone will not be happy so I love @3s-gtech policy

Good Morning As we have 5 days of schooling left today has been nominated bring your playstation to work day. To be fair I was asked if a Playstation would work in school at Christmas and I said I don't think so but you can try it so I obviously meant yes bring them into school in 7 months time and they will work perfectly. Hi We have two DC which are running server 2012, this is obviously preventing us from bringing the Domain level up to 2012r2. I would normally just build some new DCs and retire the old ones but on of them is the certificate authority for the domain, does ony one have guide for migrating this role? Thanks Mike
