I have been told that DFS can be a pig to work with because the channels going on and off is fairly random but it is designed to allow you use WiFi near airports and not interfere, obviously licensed radio will need to be in suitable bands but that's what the licensing process is for.

I agree 800 deep at the minimum, a rack can last a lot longer than the server in it and you might be cursing in a few years time if the rack is too shallow. I would also recommend cable management arms, they will save a lot of frustration and heartache.

We got some Ryzen 5 at Easter for a basic classroom update, I am trying to work out how I justify one for me.

I have used joiners and couplers at home and for temporary installations at work, as @3s-gtech says they can be variable. I had one at a site that worked flawlessly for five years in a temporary installation that was going to be in use for 6 months at the maximum but I have also replaced them within weeks because they were flaky. My advice would be to try and replace then, you might be able to use the old cable as a pull cord for the replacement. But if this is going to be a bear you could start by repunching as @chazzy2501 suggested or putting RJ45 ends on and use a coupler this will also allow you to test the separate sections of the cable because the problem may not be the joiner but somewhere in the roof void. I assume you have also tried swapping the PCs to confirm it is a wiring issue?

Can someone explain to me the end of year process for Teams I have looked at this Microsoft document but I'm still a bit vague. As I understand it we should use a Sync profile for one academic year and then create a new one for the following year. The instructions seem fairly straight forward for this: Set an expiry date Mark classes expired Archive the teams Create a new profile As I understand it this creates brand new Teams for the classes, the Teacher can then copy material from their old classes to the new classes as required. This is perfect for courses that run for one year. How do multi year courses work? Can these Teams be carried over or is the first year of the course archived and the previous years work only available from the archived team? Thanks Mike

In a two bedroom new build you might find one decent AP in the centre of the house is enough. I live in a two bedroom victorian terrace and I have coverage all over the house with one Unifi AC-Lite sat on a desk upstairs with the power turned down. The plan was to install two correctly on the ceiling in the centre of each floor but I put the first one in as a stop gap and as the coverage was sufficient I never added more or did the ceiling mounting. I do live by myself so at max I probably only have a phone a tablet and a couple of laptops connected. If I were you I would look at either of the suggestions above but just try one centrally and see how it performs before buying more.

Fair enough, I was thinking of them as black boxes rather than as PCs that print.

Do you run a separate release station or are you using the embedded solution, I assumed having never been through the purchase process that the leasing company would not be eager to let you install the software on their devices.

I have used multiple vendors for printing but not with a pull provision like papercut. There were no show stopping issues but it did make it more complex because I had two managed service providers, one company that sold us copiers but charged for service and printers we purchased directly without support. This is no more complex than all the other kit and suppliers I had to deal with but I am happy that I can now just call one company about printers and make it their problem. I think you will have problems getting a Papercut supplier to run the MFD version on someone else's copiers but I believe you can use seperate release stations. The big thing to avoid with any service contract like printers is to get all the products and services in one contract, if you add things over the years you end up with multiple contracts that all end at different times and then it is difficult to change provision or provider.

I know this is not directly connected to your issues but I have found that the HP laptops we received from the government take much longer than our other laptops to connect to the WiFi at school and home.

I could see an appeal to having a Tech look after a number of Primaries within the organisation, this would allow them to take ownership of the school and provide some good learning experience for a future promotion to Senior tech or Network manager, obviously there would need to be a safety net for absence but as long as you are documenting work this should not be a problem and could strengthen the systems to cover absence at a higher level.
