    I am having a weird issue with DirectAccess In server manager I am getting a yellow triangle and the message "Configuration required for DirectAcees and VPN (RAS at but the system is working, I have connected users and if I open the Remote Access Management Console the dashboard is reporting "THe configuration was distributed successfully" Does anyone have a clue as to what this means and if I am sitting on a timebomb please? Mike

    Sorry I have reread my post I don't think it was clear. A company who are not testing properly can not be relied on as you say and it can be easier to bring your testing in house however, I often find that the time required for testing can take a large chunk out of my technicians time for simple process I can buy in. I have had to do spot checks on external contractors I have also heard the same stories of corner cutting leveled at internal staff. What I meant about home brew test was in agreement with @Andrew_C If you are going to not follow the standard but instead create your own testing system to replace PAT you could find yourself having to defend it after an accident with an entrenched electrical safety industry standing behind PAT. In no way did I mean to question in house testing and I apologize if my above reply read that way.

    I agree fully with the consensus here about poor PAT inspectors although I also do not appreciate losing days of technician time to doing testing. The thing with PAT tests I always consider is that in the event of an accident do I want to be telling the HSE yes we PAT test following the industry standard and here are the records or do I want to have to justify a home brew system.

    This is one of the issues which really annoys me with purchasing, it crosses every industry and almost every organisation. Someone has specified a very expensive piece of equipment, you have priced it up and can't afford it. Instead of changing the spec or the budget you are just being pushed into a box with no exits.

    While @FN-GM is correct and legal advice should be sought and followed for my own education why does a user need to sign two sets of AUPs? As long as it has has no mention of employment status or dates it is in legal terms a contract between the school and the signatory stating the expectations for use of the school's computer equipment. These should not change between a volunteer and a member of staff or in fact a student or guest and a member of staff.

    I am always confused by this problem, as I understand it the AUP & etc. is a contract and unless you have got wording about start dates or employment status it is applicable from the moment is is signed therefore, the school has done it's due diligence in getting your already vetted (or they would not have been offered a job) prospective member of staff to sign the AUP, & etc. policies. Nothing magic happens on the day the employment starts to stop a user from being careless or malicious. As I am not a legal expert I always just kick this upstairs and my current school follows my reasoning as above but I don't know how much of this is due to a stunning legal argument and how much is due to staff moaning about needing access. The correct answer would be to move the contract dates but that's not going to happen.

    Thank you all for your replies. We are currently using TSOhost, our set up a quite complex due to a number of historical decisions and after a problem last month that took a long while to resolve I am hoping to move to a new host and set the website up in a logical manor. I would rather not manage my own web server as this lies outside my experience and it is one more thing to go wrong. I am now planning on moving all my domains to one supplier and the website to another. Mike

    Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Web Host, I am have had some issues with support from our current provider and am looking to move our site. The website is Joomla based and is currently getting about 600 hits a day up from 350 - 400 at the same time last year. We also have three .co.uk domains and a .org that I would want to move to keep everything under one roof. Thanks

    We are looking at options for sending next years time tables home for our students will probably have to post some. Does anyone know if it ispossible to create a report with a time table and the students address so we don’t have to match up time tables and addresses after printing?

    Salamander have set our Teams up recently they can get the groups set up but 365 does not automatically create Teams groups from them, we make our staff do the final step following these instructions When they set this up at the beginning of June they had a method to do this automatically but as we are only using teams as a pilot ATM we have not tried this. I agree with @willtech salamander is worth the subscription, I have just found out that they can also do SIMS write back for an extra £100 pa.

    Mine arrived this morning I was shocked as we had only ordered them on Friday however, when I the technical contact followed the advice @Dave_O quoted above I was told that the technical contact could not request these it had to be the key contact. Gotta love clear consistent guidance

    Just ordered our, I have had two interesting thoughts If they know we are eligible for a certain number of laptops and will not process an order for more, why do we have to order them can they just ship them? I have looked at the HP website for the laptop and you can not specify the 250 G7 with a Celeron processor.
