I have found that staff who have been using an MIS for years actually don't know how it use it to it fullest efficiency and by changing MIS and forcing training improvements are found across the school

I never thought about it as a major issue, the school is a high performing school in a poor area and it's results are very important to the students and the team. As such the Head, Exams officer and various SLT come in early to collect the results. As we support the schools I feel it is part of our role to provide cover at this time, the school are always grateful and I am not expected to be in work the following morning. Lots of IT jobs support 24/7 operation with shifts or on call I just have one late night.

The warning does not update for 24 hours so once you have generated the cert it will still have the warning for the rest of the day.

Our head likes to be in at 0001 to download the results and do their evaluations etc. before the sun comes up. I come in at about 1130 and go home at about 0030. It is annoying but it is better than not being there and there being an issue and I always get brownie points for being there.

I would separate my BOYD and Guest networks. The guest network should not have HTTPS inspection and only a basic filtering set unless you like spending an hour with each visitor setting up the certificate and explaining why they can get on to a specific page. Your BYOD network on the other hand should have HTTPS filtering which is a pain on unmanaged devices and the correct comprehensive filtering for the user. The best options for this are some sort of radius gateway or PPSKs because this gives you more control and transparency than a normal PSK.

Twenty years ago I had a desktop in every classroom with the back of the case boxed in so staff could not touch the wires and as the staff mainly stayed in one room this worked very well. In the intervening years since my departure staff have been issued laptops and the desktops have slowly been removed leaving the school with the same issues as most schools, staff don't plug their laptop in correctly or the leads get muddled up, lost or unplugged and the solution is no longer as slick. Staff who still work there and have seen both of these solutions don't seem to be able to make the connection between the fixed boxed in computer being more permanent than a mobile laptop which is connected at least once a day. I also don't think we fully understand why teaching staff can not just turn their back on the class for even one minute at the beginning of the lesson to check the leads are plugged in at both ends and the board is turned on at the wall. I personally given the power would have a desktop in every classroom for the display and a laptop for every thing else but this is more expensive.

I have seen Iris at a couple of schools and generally it is a waste of money as every one has said above. At one school however it is used by all staff at least once a half term and is apparently well received. In order to manage this we have a member of staff who charges them, sets them up at the end of the previous lesson and collects them at the beginning of the next. Between this and managing trolleys of Chromebooks and iPads this is a full job for a technician.

I have used these sorts of things which are great I have also been asked to supply chargers which just walk.

A contract is a meeting of minds for mutual benefit, the piece of paper is just a record of this. By starting to do the job the member of staff is accepting the contract and by not stopping them the school is accepting the contract. The money to be made by the legal profession is as to any of this is customary in the role or expected in the industry. Basically if you start the work before you are in contract you do have to follow the rules and they should be paying you however as teaching staff can not leave their previous school until the specified date this is more complex, again cash for the solicitors.

This is a question that could make a lot of solicitors rich but it is arguable that if you start to do the work the contract applies, especially professional obligations such as not sharing confidential data.

To be fair @ass17 has apologised for the timing and obviously is more experience in programming than running a software business. However they have provided a free product for as long as I can remember and are already making changes to accommodate the customers requests.

All software should have a DPIA assessment, the outcome may be that one is not required but by undertaking and recording the process you have shown due diligence. The first question on our DPIA for is does this software require a DPIA and if not why not. I would say that this does because the students are giving their Names and Emails two potentially identifying pieces of information also as Autodesk is an American company you need to find out where this information is stored.

In Xibo you can set up PowerPoint integration but I am not sure this works on all platforms so i just export the PPTX to a Video then show that.

Have you considered a more lateral approach to this and using spread sheets or a data base to mail merge the final report?

I have not used these but as I understand it the CEC signal is carried on the HDMI separate from the Video and Audio so theoretically it could be anywhere in the chain. However, I would put it as close to the TV as possible and after the media is converted back from CAT6.

Some where between 3 and 4 but if you have just made me a cup of tea I am very forgiving.

I worked at a school where they tried setting up a number of dummy accounts each week for supply staff and once used they where logged and disabled so there was an audit trail of each user. this did work but they ended up with a massive amount of single use accounts.

As @bicky says this is a disclaimer and it is not visible whilst creating the message both of these are minus points and could be show stopping however if your are looking for a cheap solution it is considerably cheaper that the about £1 per user per month for the commercial alternatives.
