I use a couple of companies that work together, but as above this depends on your location.

& I thought the toners for our HP laserjet printers was bad. Who in their right mind would buy such equipment without checking out the cost of consumables? I only recommend inkjet printers for low use users, but an inkjet photocopier, have they lost their minds. But as was said above, this does seem to be normal practice in most schools. I normally have a moan when they come to me & want me sort out problems with rubbish equipment that I wasn't consulted about. Will they never learn?

We use a small VB script that imports usernames, passwords & real names from a CSV file. It also sets up the directories etc. I think it was probably written by our network support company.

It really depends on what you are actually trying to move on to? Different qualifications are required for different jobs. If you only want to move in the Microsoft type sector then the MS qualifications are probably best. If you are more interested in Networking or PC repair, you might want to look at CompTIA Network+ or A+. There again there are also the Unix/Linux qualifications, the list goes on. Obviously the more qualifications you have the better it looks, but also experience counts for a lot as well. I was looking at jobs a while ago & most are requiring a minimum of three years experience.

You cannot use Partition Magic to resize a server OS partition. You need the server version which is called Volume Manager. I don't think this is available since Symantec got hold of PowerQuest. Never tried Acronis Disk Director to resize a server OS drive, but it may work. I had a similar issue & found that the backup catalogues where taking up a large amount of drive space (over 1.5gb). I removed the old catalogues & freed up the space on the drive.

You could try a live Linux CD. If the mouse works okay then it is most likely a driver issue. If not then you want to look at the mobo.

Maybe it was just an error on those folders or they got created when the date was set wrong on the machine.

Check that the date is correct in Windows & check it in the BIOS.

Another way around this is to download Flash Player from Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash Get the tar.gz file. Un-tar this to a folder on the desktop, open up a terminal window & CD to the folder on the desktop. Then just run this command: sudo ./flashplayer-installer Sorted mine out. Edit: One thing I forgot was that when you are asked for the folder, do not go for the default /usr/bin/mozilla, you want to use /usr/lib/firefox instead.

I would go for Ubuntu, been the best Linux experience I have had so far. There is a server version available, if you want a server setup.

Ubuntu fan here also. Got it installed on my desktop & laptop. Wireless working a treat. Faster than XP in all respects. kubuntu, edubuntu & xubuntu also available. Give it a go.

I would go wireless or run the CAT5e from the router & have a short telephone cable. I think 60ft of CAT5e would have less impact on the signal than 60ft of telephone cable, but as said previously, you could use the CAT5e as telephone cable. Telephone cable is still twisted pair, but I think it is slightly thinner.

TeddyKGB, you are correct. the Box & card are married. If you even want to change your box Sky, have to marry the serial from the new box to your existing card. From what I understand this is done free. I don't know if you can get a decoder for a PC, never looked in to myself, but if you can you would need one that could take a sky card. I don't expect you can get such a thing though. Lets face it, sky have got you by the short & curly's. Stick with free view channels. I would, but the other half likes to watch some of the pay to view ones.
