I dare you to try this out: SCP-087-B « SCP – Containment Breach One of the scariest games I've ever played. Feel free to give it a quick google before hand but you'll probably lose some of the scariness for doing so.

[ipad] List of iPad apps for staff?
Sam_Brown replied to Sam_Brown's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
You'd think that wouldn't you... It comes down to the fact they don't know what they want on the iPads... they just know they want iPads! -
Morning all, Just setting up our first batch of iPads here for members of staff. It's all going pretty well until we got to the stage where we were deciding what apps to install as default. Does anyone here have a list of the apps they install as default for all staff iPads? Just want to stress this is for teaching and leadership staff and not IT Techs! Thanks in advance, Sam

[ipad] Buying iPad apps en masse without adding credit card?
Sam_Brown replied to Sam_Brown's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Right so after doing a bit more research we've come up with two possible solutions for the time being. 1) Have a separate apple account different from the main one that has the school credit card attached. That way we get get finance to log in and "gift" the apps to a designated e-mail address and again this acts as our licences. The upside being we have all our "licenses" in one place. The downside to this is having to put through a separate order for each app we want to purchase and then having to wait for finance to gift the licenses for us. 2) Have a separate account for each i pad. We can buy gift cards and give each account say £15 which should be enough for most app purchases for the near future. The up side to this is that we don't need to wait for finance to order the apps and we can manage them ourselves. The only thing we need to worry about is keep in stock of itune gift cards. The downside is that it means manually downloading each app on each account. At 10 iPads this isn't TOO bad but in the future if we have 20 or 30 then it is going to be a massive ball ache to have to purchase`an app 30 times! These are the two options we've come up with. I was hoping someone could perhaps add a 3rd way which would make life a little easier? From my reading on the subject so far I get the impression that the majority of people just completely flaunt the licensing agreements and buy an app once before sticking it on as many devices as they own. I've even been told to do this myself before from apple resellers however getting anything in writing which I'd want to do before pushing ahead with that is obviously not going to happen! -
I was just wondering how other people with iPads were handling being able to buy apps en masse? We were going to follow the model we've seen mentioned a few places that involves buying the app once in the store and then gifting it multiple times depending on how many copies of the app we need. The "gifts" would then esentally be our licenses with the apps. Quick Example: We need the scrabble app installed on 10 ipads then we would purchase it once in the store using our normal iTunes account and then gift it 9 times to a designated e-mail address. The issue we're facing is that we wanted to use Apple Gift Cards to purchase the apps on so we wouldn't have to associate the school credit card with our iTunes account. However we've discovered that we can't use a gift card balance to fund gifting items. Buying them directly and the gift card balance works fine but it falls over when we want to "gift" the app 9 times because it explicitly asks for a different payment method. Either Card or Clink N Buy. I was wondering how other people got around this issue?

Morning guys, Been tasked with configuring iPads for students to use in the library. Got given a list of apps they'd like installing including Sky News and BBC News. Proxy settings are in the iPad however when trying to open the app I keep on getting "content could not be displayed" errors. The proxy settings are in the iPad so it should be using our proxy but I wasn't sure if the apps all got routed through the proxy as default or if I needed to set it up on an app by app basis?

I am hoping this is a common project. The school I work at had two domains. An Admin one which finance \ reception \ admin staff use. This is a vanilla Windows 2k3 domain. This domain contains the SIMs installation. All in all we have about 5 workstations only on this domain. There is a seperate CC4 curriculum domain as well which is what all teachers and student machines are connected to. It's fairly heavily locked down and is on a seperate IP range from the admin domain. What I was wondering is what is the best way to give the teachers on the CC4 domain access to SIMs so they can start taking registers and the various other bits and bobs that the sole reception lady currently has to do every day. Any suggestions?

Just a quick one. I've done a quick google and I'm getting conflicting results so thought I'd ask here as hopefully someone will be in the know! I've just started doing pat testing and I'm wondering when testing a laptop charger or monitor with a transformer do you need to check both the charger and the kettle lead seperately? Or will doing them in one go be good enough? My own OCD and logic leads me to thinking that you should do the cable and then the charger seperately and do a full test \ visual on both. However the confusion has arisen because in multiple places I've seen that a visual inspection is good enough for the cable as long as it's being tested along with the charger. Opinions? Advice? I really don't want to do cables seperately if I don't have to but will if I need to obviously.

I'm going to go with this and also add that if they are using AVI \ MPG as the videos then to convert to WMV as well.

I think I'm cursed on these forums. The second I post about a problem it seems to fix itself minutes later. I just logged onto another machine and the printer has been mapped ok. It seems to be working. It just took an hour or so for the changes to hit all the machines (that's including several restarts as well). Is that normal for a new printer to take so long to be pushed out to all the machines as well as require a restart? I would have thought it would have been set at log on?!?!

Afternoon all, We have a fairly new CC4 network here. I am trying to add a new printer to the network and deploy it to all staff laptops. I've added the printer to the server, ticked the box to "list in directory" and I can see it in CC4. I've assigned it to a "Location" and when checking the individual computers within that location they have the printer added to the list of printers "assigned to location". And yet the new printer won't show up at all under "printers and devices". I've checked the "Station Delivery Map Printer" logs and nothing is in there to suggest any errors so looks like it's not even trying to pick up the new printer. I'm probably missing something completely silly here but looking in all the obvious places seems to suggest it should be working fine. Any ideas?!?!

CC4 Unable to rebuild anything... RM say Virus?
Sam_Brown replied to EduMan's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Opps! This is what happens when I got into the "similar threads" and don't check the dates! -
For some reason the SystemAdmin user has had some of it's System Roles unticked. No idea how this happened but easy enough to fix and feeling stupid I didn't think of that myself. Thanks in the help.

CC4 Unable to rebuild anything... RM say Virus?
Sam_Brown replied to EduMan's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Seriously... you need to start from having nothing on the network and then gradually working your way from there adding things back in as you get them clean. Disable all computer accounts in AD and tell them they aren't having them re-enabled until they've been cleaned and patched. That'll soon get them all coming in. Pull out all your patch cables \ disable the wifi because the last thing you want is to have 99% of everything clean only to have someone plug something in and infecting everything again. Start with the servers and making sure they are all disconnected with nothing connected to your core switch(es) and only reconnect as they are cleaned. Once you're 100% sure your core network is clean and patched then you can start with the laptops and desktops. Once you're happy the majority has been sorted out then you can start to patch desktop pc's and the like back in. -
Afternoon all, Has anyone had an isssue in the past with CC4 regarding not being able to edit Registry Policies due to the options all being grayed out? I'm logged into the RM Management Console and I can browse all the Registry Policies but I'm unable to edit them. Which is strange... because last week I had no issues editing them! I'm probably doing something stupid but it's a new CC4 system which is all new to me so thought I'd ask on here before I brave Tech Support...

Must be something new with the most recent version. I downloaded 10.5 and installed it and it ran perfectly fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled the most recent version and it failed to work again. So yeah... back to 10.5 and it works fine so I'll stick with that.

Evening all, Bit of a strange one. We've had iTunes installed on a few of our staff laptops and we've never had any issues before but on this one particular laptop iTunes fails to start unless run as a local admin. Giving myself (or whoever) local admin rights doesn't seem to fix the issue and reinstalling hasn't fixed it either! Has anyone had this problem before? A quick google doesn't bring up anything useful.

Shame really but always going to happen. Not many people are going to want to pay £39 quid for a brand new game in Game when you can pick up most games from Tesco or off the net for cheaper. I reckon now Game has gone bust chances are Tesco and online shops are going to see it as a chance to increase prices slightly seeing as there is now less competition.

Only drivers available are for 2k3 and not 2k8 adnd those won't work. I have the originla SUN Driver disk. We have two of the 4500 servers and an old tech got the other one working so it can be done somehow.
