Anyone having any issues? Can't connect via school network but works fine on my phone.

But it's about 150 meg and takes about 4 minutes to download to the computers to be imaged. Surely there must be a faster way to boot using WDS? I've heard you can change the TFPT block size to speed this up but still... 150 meg is quite a lot. Especially if you're trying to do 30 computers at once!

Small problem, When Sysprepping a laptop it resets the Wifi settings such as the WEP Key and which network to connect to. Does anyone know of a work around so that you can get SysPrep to remember these details? Otherwise it means manually setting the laptops to connect to the WiFi. B

No specific app. Over half term posisbly looking to change our deployment method as the current one is old and barely works so I'm just brainstorming at the moment really.

Hi guys, Just wondering what the best way to distribute new software to existing computers is? We have one room with 30 fat clients in and recently had to install a new piece of software. We ended up spending half a day installing manually on all workstations. What would be the best way to distribute software to these computers?

Hi guys, Has anyone else had issues regarding ClipArt or E-Mails? The issue with E-Mails with linked images within e-mails not showing up due to them being blocked by our web provider and then when you try and forward the e-mail it crashes Outlook because it can't locate the images when sending the e-mail. The issue with ClipArt being similar, when you search for ClipArt it tries to search the net for the images and ends up freezing because it's constantly trying to download the thumbnails but can't. Anyone else had these issues? Not 100% sure it's an internet issue but thought I'd raise it in case anyone else had similar issues.

I think Teachers and Students need to be reminded though as they won't check it themselves.

Morning guys, Anyone know of any useful software or tips that will allow users to be kept upto date with their quota and how much room they have remaining? Back when I was at school YEARRRSSS ago we had a tool that when you logged in told you how much quota we had remaining and if necessary took you to a screen to delete some files before letting you continue. Anything like that about?

You're correct. We have a shared folder on one of our servers called ESM_TEST_CENTRE which contains three folders... Candidates, TestDefinition, Updates. How do I point the Administrator program to the share? --- EDIT Noticed when trying to install asks for a data directory. Should this be the share?

Right. Managed to find a share on one of our servers with the "administrator" (what a stupid name for the client sofware) installation file. Now I get an error message of "5209: Cannot load SitePreference.DLL". Joy. Looks like that tech support number is going to come in handy after all.

Need to install some software call Promisser on about 20 laptops before an exam next week. Only problem is the previous reigme here hasn't kept it in an obvious place and I can't find it! Any one know where I can find it? Where it's available from the develoeprs website etc etc? Thanks in advance, sam

Just got a call from Andrew @ EMBC to let me know the issue has been resolved. Given it a quick test and initial signs show that everything is working as should be

Just for the record I've contacted EMBC and they are looking into it. Ticket was recently updated to show it was the same as a number of other requests... so here's hoping they'll be getting this sorted soon.

Just XP. Reluctant to reinstall as we had a load of trouble installing it in the first place...

Issue seems to be that when you do an image search that about two thirds of the images are "red cross'd" and blank but when you click them the image shows up as if you would expect it to do had the thumbnail been present. A few of our admin staff are complaining about not being able to find images for presentations \ newsletters and I was wondering if anyone else had any issues. Regards, Sam

At the moment we use ghost (8.1 I think). PXE Boot into RIS... download boot image for ghost. Then either restore or create image from there. Images are currently syspreped so once they've been ghosted to the workstations the first time you turn them on all you do is enter in a name for the workstation and set an admin password. Simple right? Issues obviously we need different image depending on the hardware meaning we've got something like 15 images sitting around. Is this the best option at the moment or do better ones exist?

Everyone knows me as the nice IT guy but it's impossible to be that any more. I'm having to be a "bad guy" because I can't keep everyone happy any more because the work load is too high and we're understaffed. I need to learn to become more... "detached" from the other people, care more about prioritising and doing what needs to be done instead of trying to keep everyone happy. To be more professional and do my job to the best of my abilities instead of stopping things I'm in the middle of to help someone else because they are my friend. Aragggahhh I can't do this easily. My head hurts. Does anyone have any tips and tricks to keeping everyone happy while also having to learn to say "no" to those people who you've always been there to help even when it might not have been in your job description to help them...

No such option! I've just deleted and re-added the NDIS driver and it seems to be working now... *fingers crossed*
