I did notice when I got caught that the Java window opened up - I thought Java could'nt do nasties - but maybe just a coincidence

Any reason why?

I've had it on a couple of PCs (work & home) - its quite naughty and disables Task Manager, Process Explorer, Regedit and others. What I did... Boot in Safe Mode (with Networking) and log in as the affected user In the registry - go to the Local User/....../Run & RunOnce and look for suspicious loads - its usually a .exe - delete it from the registry Search for the file on the system drive & delete it from there I read it can also mess with the hosts file & other internet settings - but that wasn't the case for me. Very annoying - especially as I have quite a lot of "protection"

Sounds good - but best of luck with using it for e-reg - we tore our system out for that a while back - it was just too easy to dodge for the kids

Hi - just had request for proximity access control system to operate 4 external doors here - not really IT but you know how it goes. Anyone got any good/bad experiences? The doors are so far apart, it would be nice if they could be controlled over our network - any recommendations?

We're on a contract with Ricoh too - its quite convenient from a toner point of view and shuts up the cold call toner sales people - but its not been any cheaper for us - without some sort of management of costs within the school - theres no incentive to reduce the actual cost of printing. Oh and get some ear plugs too - to ameliorate the amount of moaning you get when everyone doesn't have a printer within 2 foot of their PC...

I still love SequoiaView - you can colour code different file types, hovering over a file shows you its details and you can drill down to investigate.

I keep a colony of ants, each of which can carry a piece of paper marked with "0" or "1" in its mandibles, then lay a trail of sugar to each PC - its quite slow, but like the internet, is hard to disrupt as the ants see disruption to the data as a threat and ATTACK! Now enough of this light hearted shilly-shally, I've got a white cat to stroke and a world to take over....
