SpuffMonkey replied to bigaandy's topic in How do you do....it?
Yeah - its annoying - heres the solution Satellite Pro A300 (PSAJ1E-) Remove battery and disconnect the AC-adapter then short pad G1 for a minimum of 30 seconds with a flat-blade screwdriver, the pad is located under the memory module. This can be accessed from the base of the notebook -

Online prescription glasses. Does anyone buy them?
SpuffMonkey replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Further to this thread - recently had to get reading glasses - so bought a pair from the posh optician in town where I had the eye test and also a cheapo pair from Glasses2U - although the prescription wasn't very complicated - functionally the glasses seem identical - so thats the last expensive pair I'll buy - big saving - £16 plays £285! -
I'd have to say that its threads like this one that make me so happy not to work in schools anymore. Poor decisions by ill informed SLT being foisted on IT Support staff - brrr - brings me out in goosepimples just thinking about it...

In a previous job (not a school) we had a toilet monster that liked to smear excrement all over the walls of the cubicles. On one famous occasion he even made a "Stonehenge"-type arrangement on a toilet seat, much to the fury of the office manager, who had to arrange the cleaning up. We never knew for certain who it was, though it did stop when a certain member of staff left for pastures new...

We used to have a tag system similar to the above and it became a 'mare - I guess it depends on what your kids are like - but ours took every opportunity to mess things up - the tags would be removed and stuffed into the lining of other students clothes, into their bags, one was even superglued to the detectors causing them to alarm all the time - in the end, they were going off so often that no one took any notice of them - which kind of defeated the purpose...

Recommend a Network Media Playback device please
SpuffMonkey replied to andyturpie's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I've just bought a WD TV Live for home use (around £70-£80) and full HD http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B005NYOKC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331829505&sr=8-1 Its a cracking little box and easy to set up, of course if you've got an old PC and a copy of W7 - you could always use the media player -
Joining the programming club at school and having to fill in circles on cards with a 2B pencil to represent each byte and then cycling down the local "tech" to have them run and pick up the results the following week - and usually finding you'd made a mistake on a card and the whole job failed - arggghh Also - pre mobile days when I used to have to carry a pager and when it went off, hunting for a non vandalised BT phone booth to call the office secretary to find out what the problem was.
