Not at all - if you think that - you really don't know what being agnostic means - have a read of Agnosticism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia if you think Russell, Kierkegaard etc are woolly thinkers and not able to take logic to its limits, I feel you might be erring to the conceited side. Being agnostic makes no assumptions about god/gods - it just says that there is no evidence either for or against that isn't completely subjective. Dogmatic beliefs either for or against are just that - beliefs - neither side can provide any evidence.

Personally - I think that agnosticism is the only logical stance to take - there can be no proof (or disproof) of deities in any meaningful way - so it makes sense to take that on the chin and get on with our lives, mostly following the idea of "do as you would be done by" which seems to cover most of the sensible bits of religious direction..

Just finished The Great Gatsby, very nicely written. Also really enjoyed Danny Baker's autobiography - I'm not so keen on him in the media, but the book was a cracking read - what a spawny git he was! Currently on Biggles In The South Seas!

I did like Novell though - MS products were a nasty shock after Netware - still waiting for an MS operating system that can tell me who is logged on to the network without faffing about!

Usually you'd tie them in to sections of the job description (assuming you have one) - and they "should" be able to be quantified - so - things like responding to calls within certain time limits depending on the sort of call, replacing toner, logging calls on your system, deploying new and replacement kit, arranging 1 to 1 training, stuff like that. It sounds like you get on well with the techie, which is good, but if there were areas of concern in the way that they carried out the job, it might be useful to have agreed targets for them.

I suppose the other side of your argument is what just happened to that building in Pakistan - I quite like having some protection from rogues and scallys - the problem is where to draw the line.

If you really don't use apps - why not go down to an old fashioned phone - I still use an old Samsung and get 10 days between charges and it only cost about £35

I was just asking coz my elderly Dad got a tablet for Xmas - and so now I'm trying to support over the phone - its a bit of a 'mare - it was OK on his PC with the free LogMeIn - but now trying to understand what he is doing from description only is next to impossible - its an old Archos job by the way.

OK - so can you go the other way too - from PC and control the Android tablet with these?

Having had my lad go through the school system - I could never understand why more schools don't offer after-school childminding as an add on feature - they've already got the infrastructure - it wouldn't be a massive amount of managing to organise some extra staff and I would imagine they could make a reasonable whack if charging similar to the child minders we had to hire - even more if they put on homework clubs or catch up sessions or extra sporting stuff for those that like that sort of thing.

I suppose one would have to point out that short hours and long holidays doesn't seem to have held Mr Gove back in any meaningful way - just saying...

I know, I know - its all a bit depressing though. Given what you read in rock star memoirs (Led Zep et al) - you'd think they'd have collared a few of them too (G. Glitter not withstanding)...

I accepted a job offer at a software house whilst waiting for the results of psychometric testing from another place which had a better vacancy - I started the job and then got accepted by the other place on my 3rd day in post. I resigned on the Thursday and left on the Friday. Understandably they were very miffed at being messed about and refused to pay me for the week I was there - unfortunately I was so skint (after being made redundant from previous employment and with a mortgage to pay) I had to drag them through the Small Claims court to get my money - not my finest hour :-(

Coincidentally - been to see my aged parents this weekend - they've got a Samsung and about 80% of the screen seems to be a slightly discoloured yellowy brown colour - any body got any ideas what this might be, or if it can be fixed?
