What annoys me is that if we had been as far sighted as Norway (for Gods sake!) then we wouldn't be in this mess - they decided to take the money from their chunk of North Sea oil and create a massive pension fund so that the increasing numbers of old people in relation to the smaller number of younger working people wouldn't be a problem see - The Government Pension Fund of Norway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - instead of p1ssing it all away over the last 30 years. Deep sigh... Its not without its own problems - but its a nicer type of problem.

I think the Prime is in silver only - I've just bought the TF300 - which is the same spec as the Prime but has either a blue/red/white case and costs £100 less - its very lovely Spent a lot of time looking round but the price was the same everywhere - so just picked one up in the local Currys. I was much aggrieved a few weeks ago when I heard that my favourite music/culture magazine (The Word) had gone bust - a real shame...so I was doubly annoyed when my latest issue of PC Plus came the other day saying that it had "gone west" as well. Damned shame, as I'd been reading it for about 20 years - things just won't be the same. Any suggestions on other mags to fill these gaps or are you all just picking bits up online nowadays?

I used to work as a cashier at a petrol station in my youth ( a long time ago...) and my mate (a clever lad, but deficient in common sense) who also worked there set the (plastic) paper bin alight by accident with a cigarette. Instead of putting it out with our fire extinguisher, he carried the bin out onto the forecourt and dropped it. I dived for cover behind the sweets rack, expecting an atomic bomb sized fireball - but actually nothing happened at all, except it burned itself out - apparently its not as easy to set fire to this stuff as films would have you believe.

Yeah - thats just poor technique by the nurse - having had more needles/canulas/arterial lines than I care to think about over the last year - its clear that some people just have "the knack" and others definitely do not. Its no fun if you get the local "stabber", but odds are you'll get a better experience next time.

Being fortunate enough to be at the other end of the cycle from you guys - I can't recommend buying your own property enough - I've paid off the mortgage and now we can survive on a single wage without all the worry. Its a weight off your shoulders and a boot off your neck - we can give "the finger" to "the man" and not have to dance to his tune anymore. Yes we were fortunate that house prices were a lot lower when we started out - but conversely interest rates have been a LOT higher - 17% really made my eyes water and made the repayments quite a bit bigger than one of our salaries, which made being redundant quite stressful, though I agree with the post that reckoned prices are to high and interest rates will rise...though I've been thinking that for several years and it hasn't happened yet - I'm not sure the govt can take the pain that would be caused by mass repossessions as happened 20 years ago, but we'll see. At least you're in a cheap part of the country - or you could just take over the house across the road and squat and save your money...

Mine goes through the loft and exits behind the guttering downpipe then down the wall and in through a vent hole - cheap as chips and has been running for 10 years

I used to do commutes roughly of that length - its a pain in the winter and also a pain if your workplace is sociable and likes to go for a drink - as you have to stay on the soft drinks or crash at somebodys house - neither much fun in the long run. If you do go for it - I'd strongly suggest you investigate going LPG - it'll save you a fortune and make your trip even more lucrative - Prins Autogas UK or similar
