  1. Yeah - to Chas Wright for teaching me A Level Maths in 4 months after a great but unproductive lower 6th.
  2. Sajiko cat
  3. Cheap TV tuner card and WMC?
  4. I like the look of that! Can you recommend a "How To" guide as I might give it a go. Has anyone else done this and got the BBC iPlayer add on working on it? I'd appreciate a numpty's guide for that as well. Cheers
  5. Very nice it is too - ta!
  6. Dunno - I'll try that over the weekend - worth a go - glad to hear that I'm not alone though - cheers
  7. Anyone got any ideas on a problem I'm having with my home PC? Its W7 desktop, network runs to an old Netgear GS608 and from there to my Virgin Hub. The problem I'm getting is that on every alternate boot I get network connectivity issues - it keeps dropping out every couple of minutes saying it can't see the internal network or the internet. Not getting it on other machines in the house - so I reckon its my box - but has anyone seen anything similar? I really don't feel like stripping and rebuilding - but its starting to get on my wick! If you need more info - let me know Cheers
  8. Yay!! Happy New Year everyone!!
  9. Festive felicitations...
  10. Didn't I read that Preston got stuffed by the OAP free bus passes? afair the departing bus station picks up the tab for the cost of the journey and Preston is the central hub for Lancashire - so it was costing a fortune
  11. Cheers - but these and lots more are on Project Gutenburg!
  12. I've got an Asus Transformer - comes with a natty clip on keyboard which should make the note taking easier - the kb has an extra battery in it too which nicely extends its up time. No stylus tho, I'm afraid
  13. Take out all the Adobe crap!
  14. They were only £19.95 last year
  15. OK - a few predictions from 1994 issue 2005 - universal animal organ donors 2007 - smart fabric clothing 2005 - house cleaning robots 2010 - robot surgeon in an edible pill 2016 - holographic phones 2013 - digital books 2016 - virtual library of knowledge never - a paperless office So - they were a bit slow with the digital books and virtual library, but over optimistic on the robot doctors. If I find some more as I'm browsing through - I'll post them up.
  16. Very sad - though I have to admit that when his picture came up on the news, my first thought was that he'd joined the Jimmy Saville, Gary Glitter, Stuart Hall (no!) brigade...
  17. 1 son - 15 years old - he's still good fun to be around - but I guess the drinking and womanising is just around the corner...
  18. I'll dig it out and post a few in a while
  19. Just found a box full of Deadline comics - Tank Girl - yeah!

    Wired

In a fit of rather stupid and unseasonal enthusiasm - I've been tidying out the garage and came across boxes of magazines I had, for some inexplicable reason, stored away in the mid 90s - a load of Q, Viz and a box of Wired - which at the time was a very exciting read for the technogeek. Its a hoot looking at the exciting ranges of modems and Pentium CPUs (and pagers - remember them before mobiles were commonplace?)- but there are lots of articles trying to guess the future direction of technology, especially around the then very new world wide web - some quite sensible and others wildly off the mark. I'm not sure whether to take them down the tip or seal them up for another 20 years, oh and I'm sure I saw a 1980s copy of Omni poking out of another box....
  21. Now there's your problem, right there
  22. The Mortal Engines set is fab - I see Mr Witch is the same age as me - so I should think he'll enjoy them. Has he done Charlie Higson's "The Enemy" set? If he's not offended by teen fiction, they're worth a go as are the Skulduggery Pleasants, HIVE and CHERUB books - the joys of having a teenage son...
  23. I put Toyo's on my Camry and have been very pleased with them - quite quiet and a reasonable price - got them via one of those outfits that comes to your house, can't remember which one.
  24. Orcs Must Die 2 for £3 - excellent...
  25. I spent last Christmas in hospital - and I can tell you its not all its cracked up to be - VERY happy to be doing all the usual stuff this year!
