  1. We use Kayako, but as @SYNACK mentioned above do a search on here for helpdesk and theres multitudes of alternatives available. Some are free others you need to pay for, some run on webservers others are windows / linux based. It's totally up to you which flavour you choose. From recent discussions spiceworks as mentioned above seems to be the most popular.
  2. KMS is for large office rollouts on a large number of workstations ideally. A KMS needs to be setup which is polled every so often to ensure the serial is still genuine.
  3. I am considering something similar here but using Google Forms - as you say it's the collation of all data which will be the difficult part. The information coming out is only as good as the information the parents put into the system.
  4. I guess they could talk to you and topics are likely to include value for money, copyright and safeguarding. I must admit I haven't spoken to OfSTED inspectors in my capactity of Network Manager in their 2 visits I have been at this school. The theme of the inspection will also likely give you a clue whether you are likely to be asked to talk to them and what the topic of conversation may be.
  5. We use the mobotrix Q24 here as well and they will do what you want. The cameras ain't too expensive and the software I believe is free to download.
  6. I come across this issue yesterday - thankfully we don't have as many Keyspans as you. For some reason I couldn't get the Belkin ones we had to work (2 of them) but the Keyspans were fine. I seem to remember after picking initially plugging the board in and installing the driver the machine required a restart before it worked - it was using COM4 as well if that helps, but if your doing a Find - it should still pick it up. Good luck.
  7. Yep, thats how I managed to package it up early this week.
  8. Long time overdue - good to see it's going to be added though.
  9. I'm in.
  10. I'm having a similar issue trying to get HP 2600n printers on our Server 2008 R2 domain. Printer just refuses to print.

    Lion so far

Has anybody had an issues with smb servers? My NAS fails to connect without some serious tweaking each time I boot up.
  12. Is this the new EES licence agreement? In the main from what I have heard it has reduced costs for schools it certainly did for us anyway.
  13. We use Realsmart as an assessment for learning tool. Realsmart Cloud has intergrated Google Apps - you could in theory set this up yourself and link it with your own AD - but I guess purchasing via smartassess takes away all the hassle at a cost. We have 4 or 5 departments using Realsmart and feedback is pretty good.
  14. I generally always wait for the SLG updates to be installed first before I install the SIMS updates - although today because we broke up yesterday I have installed the SIMS summer update as I know it's required for the exams and I have enough going on over the holidays without trying to squeeze in a SIMS upgrade. I can't imagine many teachers wanting to access the SIMS webparts, so if it's broken anything until the SLG update goes on it's not the end of the world.
  15. Downloading it now and have been for the last couple of hours.... it's coming down pretty slowly or at least the blue progress bar next to the Lion icon in my dock is moving extremely slowly - i'm not sure what percentage it's up too.
  16. Haven't installed the SIMS Summer release yet, but the FMS summer release went on without any problems.
  17. I imagine the full on iPAD version will run using full resolution, rather than having to blow up the standard iPOD app to full screen. Functionality I would guess will be the same. PE are still loving using it here on iPOD touches.
  18. We use these also - they tend to have a minimum of 30 qualified items required, but if they are in the area they will collect if you have smaller numbers.
  19. Similar checking to the mobile numbers. In theory it should be a case of does it have 11 numbers (yes / no)
  20. We have just gone Windows 7 and have Server 2008 R2 installed. We are one of the first schools with this install. Our backend EMC VNX san is I believe the first to be commissioned. Have a couple of small niggling issues after the engineer handed over yesterday, but nothing major stopping me ploughing on preparing everything for a summer rollout.
  21. Great, thanks. We have support through until 26th June 2012 - so we should be good to go.
  22. Your LA may offer the training - it will be slightly cheaper. I know ours does. I would also ask around to see if any other similar size schools in the area are using CC3 / CC4 and paying a visit. Have you an account for the RM Support site or the RM Communities forum? These are also a must, to help you along the way.
  23. The teachers wipe them to write on the board on a daily basis, but they don't ever come out brilliant white. I think the cleaners give them a quick clean during the summer holidays, but it doesn't take look before they look black again once we return in September.
  24. I missed out on the ambassador training in Newcastle last time, so I have booked myself on for next year. The only issue with having something in Newcastle in January is the likelyhood of snow!
  25. If your going to be managing it fulltime I would advise you going on the training courses provided by RM. They ain't cheap, but will certainly give you a better understanding of the product and it's limitations.
