Vikpaw sounds like he has hit the nail on the head to me!

Off the top of my head I don't remember the exact model but as @synaesthesia guessed it's a HP ColourLaser Jet

I got a ticket on our helpdesk today - we've got the latest version installed and our Finance user come across the Runtime error. Changing the printers sorted the issue out. I think we've got a colour laser printer here it just refuses to work with if its the default and always has done.

We are on 4.0.12 and when I tried yesterday the mass logon didn't work but has worked using previous versions - I thought something in .12 must have broke something but obviously not if it works for you @Valyyn

Hi Richard Thanks for the reply. Incase anybody else comes across this issue, it's down to not installing the Mobile viewer Webpart at the same time as the SLG upgrade. The mobile webpart works on the main site and redirects those users who are using a mobile browser to the relevant page. I just wanted to make sure SLG was working first before I installed the updated Mobile webpart but by the looks of it, it won't let you. Quick call to CAPITA support pointed me in the right direction.

We run Sharpoint 2010 and SLG hosted in school. I updated the webparts to the Summer 2013 release on Friday after school and it now appears to have killed my Sharepoint install and whenever anybody now tries to logon either inside of school or externally they receive a Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime error and i've also pasted an error from the event viewer below. I'll get on the phone to CAPITA support tomorrow but does anybody have an idea what may have gone wrong? --------- Log Name: Application Source: ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0 Date: 28/07/2013 19:57:14 Event ID: 1310 Task Category: Web Event Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: STB-SR-*****.******.internal Description: Event code: 3008 Event message: A configuration error has occurred. You should be able to install it no problem during the day with no restarts needed on either the server or workstation. It's free - it's basically the next release from SOLUS2.0. As @bossman pointed out - theres been a lot of horror stories about it on here but when it does work - it plays nicely.

We've just bought it within the last month and have successfully ran some of ours students through the initial tests.

[sims] Moving SIMS to Server 2008 R2 from Server 2003
Sylv3r replied to Bigs1312's topic in MIS Systems
Is their any reason why your looking to move to Server 2008 rather than 2012? Is may save you a job in 2 to 3 years time if you needed to upgrade again. -
We have an issue at the minute with Office365 and IMAP. Our iPADs were playing nicely up until this week and now they fail to connect with password is incorrect, although we can access the accounts fine using the same password via the web. We've had many a discussion with the support team over many an hour over the last couple of days and we don't seem to be getting any further forward - the two people we have spoken to both yesterday and today have wanted us to go through exactly the same steps. Hopefully, the fault has now been escalated and we will get a resolution ASAP. I was keen to migrate all staff from our existing Mail System to Office365 over the summer, but I now feel that it is too big a risk to take especially as the support we have received has not been what I would expect from a company such as Microsoft as this is not just the last couple of days but the last 2 or 3 times also we have asked for their help. We were quite happy with the Live@Edu system and it just worked for us students, since moving to Office365 we have had no end of issues - the admin interface appears to be extremely buggy and is not particularly intuitive plus a lot of the documentation and helpguides available still don't appear to have been upgraded from the previous Live@Edu docs. Apologies - that I have taken the OP off topic.

Not exactly what your after Andrew, but a google docs link sent to all staff and the member of staff adds their name and date at the bottom of the form. It will be a manual process of having to cross reference all staff have signed it however.
-
Sounds good - I'll happily help once your in a position to launch it.

As someone mentioned above - I am seriously considering buying 100 of the Zoostorm PC's basically the same spec to that you mentioned for around the £250 mark. Cheapish 19" TFT monitors (non glass) will be around the £60 mark. So you should be well within budget.

I had a few minor bugs when I first installed Beta 2, but it does seem to be behaving itself better now. Theres still a few quirks which I am sure will be resolved prior to the next beta or full release.... maybes!

We've got around 15 PC's running it as a test here with no issues.

Theres a fix for the Chrome / Sharepoint scrolling issue. But I can't seem to find the link I found the details on and I can't remember what I did.

This is what I have used in the past and worked well. osql -SERVER\SIMSSQL2008 -E -n -Q”sp_password @old =null, @new= 'NewSAPassword1#' , @loginame = 'sa'” This command assumes that The server name is SERVER The instance name is SIMSSQL2008 The sa username is sa The new sa password is NewSAPassword1#

Not sure if your an Impero user or have looked at it, but the next general release includes patch management as well as the multitude off other things it does.

They are blocked on our mailserver and I politely tell them we are not interested when they ring. They either have a high level of staff turnover or we've got around 6 account managers!
-
Each of our feeder primary schools come in for a day and has taken place over the last couple of weeks. We've got the registrations all done, consent collected and online details sent out so parents can top up online ready for September if they wish.

We use Schoolcentre here. Staff sometimes report it is slow and sometimes they have lost work they have spent time adding to the site, we don't think it's related to our network or our internet connection as staff lose work on their home connection too. We had to change the way we recorded things to fit in with the Schoolcentre way - it does have some flexibility but not as much as we would have liked. We use it for School Development Plans, School and Departmental SEFs and Performance Management. The SDP's and SEF's work better for us than the PM part. I think originally you had to pay for everything, but the last I heard they either have made it modular or are going to in the future which means you only need to pay the cost for the bits you need.

We are having similar issues moving our Staff mail to Office365. We use Firstclass The Leader in Enterprise Information Management | OpenText as our current mail system and we have setup the IMAP sync and it does connect but it only appears to pull in the mail from the inbox and ignores all subfolders that have been created including the sent mail folder. The next step is to try the .pst method, but I am a little wary how long it will take to get 150 staff accounts sent up.

We use RealSmart as an AfL tool but not with the Google Apps integration. From what I do know, support is generally good. And they are starting to dip their toes into iPAD apps etc as the majority of the website is flash based, which is a bonus for us. At the moment all of our students use it in ICT across all Key Stages and PE use it as a method of uploading class / homework and the staff mark it and then send it back with comments to make changes. The printing costs in ICT alone over the last 4 or 5 years has dramatically reduced. It wont replace your Moodle integration with SIMS or SLG however and you will still need something if you want to give access to this sort of information to parents etc. If you have any further questions, I can try and answer them from our point of view if you post them here.
-
We looked at it but didn't purchase. We got mixed feedback from staff and students when we trialled it. Some of our 'high flying' students would probably use it but the lower end student probably wouldn't bother. Teachers said the quality of content varied from subject to subject.

Possibly, although I noticed them at BETT so I would have thought they would deal with the UK.
