    Snow!

Sun is out and now snow down the road in Watford lol.
  3. Haven't been able to access http://www.discogs.com for a couple of weeks, admittingly they did have a few routing issues a while back, but I cannot seem access the site through our proxy (no problems at home or on phone) - Getting 500 internal server error. Our LA have tested and they are getting the same result? If you could check for me please? Andy T
  4. A two tier problem exists, the welfare state which has become a way of life for most and the corporate tax dodgers. Now a lot of the CEO's will argue that they bring employment to the country, which we cannot argue, but they as a whole bring minimum wage employment, which means these employees are still requiring top ups from the welfare state, provided by the squeezed middle. All I can visage is our national budget disappearing down a hole like sand in an egg timer with no option to turn the glass around...
  5. Currently based on the number of staff who perform over 200? hours work per annum, minus the groundsmen and canteen staff and cleaners etc. HR department should be able to supply you with this info. The number of workstations or how your network is configured should not be taken into consideration (as far as i'm aware).
  6. I concurr with this the AUP does cover it. We have our AUP pop up at every log in and staff and pupils have to accept or the system will log them back off again!
  7. Morning, I have very little knowledge of scripting or VBS so I was wondering how would I create something that would execute our papercut client on our print server share? At the moment, only my team are trialling the program, and the start up would only pertain to admins? Anyone tell me the easiest method of how to do this please?
  8. Morning Guys, Not really a mac person, but our music department has imacs with Sibelius 6 and from time to time a station will unregister the licence leaving the pupil unable to save their work. We did originally have our x-serve checking licencing, but due to poor config of our x-serve we rebuilt all the macs and used individual workstation licences. BTW the unregistering did happen on older versions managed via the x-serve as well. Has anyone else experienced this at all? Thanks in advance!
  9. Free Driver Download for Ethernet Controller - SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. RF509/RF409 Tried these?
  10. Hi there was just wondering if there was any way of the automation of the removal of profile SIDs from the registry, we've had a couple of cases that we've had to regedit and remove and was wondering if there was a tool akin to delprof2.exe to do the same job. Go on, encourage our laziness! Andy T
  11. Actually happened on a laptop the other day - we've just put up a 6m projector screen and HD projector and quad sound system put up in our drama hall. We thought we would test with laptop and Star Wars DVD. Couldn't get any sound - farting around with the amp, pre amp and windows settings, finally the sound arrives bang on cue for the start music, ableit very loud, loud enough for a fright -request new underwear lol.
  12. ahh the realtek sound card, you'll probably find that this is down the the auto jack sensing system. It some times gets confused if someone tries to insert another pair of speakers or headphones (even in the mic socket). Unplug the speakers, delete device from workstation and restart and let the device be found again, plug in the speakers and then let it know that the output is (rear speakers). We have had this a few times.
  13. I think he may mean is there any other platform apart from windows server OSes which can deliver a terminal service session?
  14. Thanks my friends - As Clareq mentioned, the only down side to the network share is being reliant on an active connection for laptops a CC4 package (which if the msi needs no doctoring) sounds like the ideal way to go, especially if our photography department use 16 laptops! Thanks again for all the feedback!
  15. Hi gorgeous peeps, Looking at papercut as we would love to introduce "follow me printing" to reduce wastage. We are a CC4 network, but would like to ditch the RM printer credit system. Is there anyone that has gone down the same route and did you package up the client to distribute or as it can be a zero install running from a network share, how did you actually go about it within via the RMMC? Thanks for looking, hope to hear some good news!
  16. Hi Gang, Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? We have a CC4 network and viglen omnino 4 workstations. We have a strange issue where every so often at the log in screen, the first key pressed seems to keep repeating its self and continually fill up the text box. The only way to do remedy this is to force a restart. I am presuming a driver issue, but which drivers would it be USB or chipset causing this issue? Any ideas and hints would be much appricated!
  17. My dark sense of humour made me spit my tea all over my twin screens hearing this. Im off to hell in a handbasket...
  18. Have you considered as an option the RM notebook 310? We got these last year for staff and pupils and they weighed in around the same price as a Tosh equivilent. We have had no issues so far with them.
  19. I concur with the above, each media type uses a different laser to read write the data, only takes one to break, the other can still perform.
  20. Ive got them coming in next Monday for a visit - what lies did they tell? - do tell!
  21. Check with your RM account manager, I'm pretty sure ours mentioned (quite a while back) that they are moving away from the per workstation licence and running something similar to EES.
  22. Thanks guys - I haven't made the change yet I have left the RMMC users at 2 concurrent log ins for all, but a stroppy email to all teaching staff I have cut it down from around 25 users to only 1 today. I have delprof2.exe and created a basic manual run script which cleans our terminal servers and our IT suites when run, but cannot fathom out how to create a CC4 package to deploy it and make it run autonomously yet!
  23. Thought Win 8 pro can?
  24. Afternoon all, Just wondered what your school policy was for restricting concurrent logins for staff? I have had a look on on our CC4 RMMC and I have noticed well into double figures logged into more than one machine. Can being logged into multiple machines cause proflie corruption? One response I've is that if we have to restrict to a single allow login, then its a fundamental flaw in RMCC4, which I beleve that can happen on vanilla networks regardless? Any advice and thoughts on this will be appriciated as always!
  25. For pupils, we use their SIMS enrollment number. Staff we use three letters from their name first letter of first name, first two of surname (no clashes as yet!)
