Sometimes it makes me sad, though, Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty when they’re gone. We always ask permission, we have'nt been refused permission yet. We had an old VHS tape for chemistry from Esso and when contacted they said no problems and duly sent a couple of interactive DVDs of how an oil refinery works. I did attend a copyright course from RTA and their stance is "never take a no response as a green light to copy". But I agree if you own the original tape then I see nothing wrong of making a copy and storing it side by side with the disk labelled "backup of". Before that I would try every effort to trace the copyright holder even companies house searches if necessary.

Dave - smartclienting 100 machines for such a short time would be worth doing. Obviously you don't the the remote support tools, but imho, these machines are the daddy Just itching to start PXE building ours from now on lol

Hi Dave, we did - however we had to go for an intel DQ57TM main board in the Omnino which built beautifully with no issues. The problem was that these boards are for the 1st gen core iX processors and wasn't in plentful supply. Its the CC3 build process which will hold you back. On the plus side, we are trashing our forest route server in about half an hour and rebuilding to CC4 so mainboards will not be such an issue in the future. Our viglen account manager is Ibrihim Unstun or Albert Seminero. Ask your account manager if he/she is different to speak to one of them and see what they can do. I fully recommend the Omnino 4 and Viglen, they have been excellent so far! PM me your number if you have any other questions

Just wondering if anyone has seen this deal - seems to good to be true fibre to the house 1gbps connection for 50 sheets a month? This could buck the trend in charges from all the other ISP's surely? What do you think?

Onboard Intel RAID I think via Ctrl-I command. As I have no experience, how is it possible for the drives to be Re RAID'ed (if that's the correct phrase) to a 0 array for striping but I can still access the OS? Was this down to a part configuration without formatting?

I have our heads husbands personal PC here which I usually tend to from time to time. It's a Dell Dimension that was originally shipped with RAID configured, but I struggled at the time of WIN7 upgrade to install on the RAID (have not really had the experience with configs) and I am 100% certain that I broke the RAID array and had 2 physical disks. A few days ago he called me to say that it started to slow down and was getting HDD errors etc. Upon expection I have ran full HDD tests with seatools which read back full healthy drives. I have however noticed that during the RAID manager on boot it looks like the PC has been forced back into a striped 0 array and there was a red error (0) beside each drive in the RAID manager. I am currently backing up the whole drive via Acronis true image and was wondering if I should try rebuild the RAID and re image or just do a fresh install and put back the files and folders from the .tib file. Any suggestions please?

Thats nothing, I've got a habit of closing programs down when I only mean to minimise i.e. outlook, RMMC etc. Always having to log back in...jeez.

The same here, short runs done by us, anything else done via our electrical contractors. As someone else above says, try to be flexible and even work with the site team on this and pick up some transferrable skills!

I use QNAP my self, ableit a small 4 bay with 4x2tb drives on RAID 5. Its been excellent

PS with package building, I use an acronis boot USB to create a .tib file of a clean machine (built to package build area) and also a test machine .tib (built to main site). All that needs to be done is a quick profile clean and it takes a couple of mins to swap between the images after package building. Made my life so easy!

is there a more up to date drive to place in the RM build manager has the existing one become corrupted somehow? I have the driver still in our build area if you need it just shout and I will send it over

All that happens down our way is as soon as a outlet gets a poor health rating, the premises is "sold" onto a family member and then the operation starts again until next audit.

More than likely lol. But it was Spiceworks which brought it to my attention, which is all well and good, but you would think the system would be kind enough to say who was logged in when it was installed Ive got the date and time, so I was going to wander down and look at event viewer as well. Spiceworks is not encouraging my lazyness enough!

Morning, Finding some odds and sods of unwanted software somehow getting installed on some workstations, I would like to generate a report that would tell me which logon, date and time the unwanted software ended up on the workstation. Tried creating it from scratch, but couldn't find the variables I need? Any ideas lovely people?

Afternoon, just followed all the procedures for our EES licensing for Windows 7 and when logged into the microsoft site there is a myriad of different versions and serial numbers. Does this mean I can use different versions of W7 ie Enterprise and professional etc? Enterprise would be handy for bitlocker and obviously professional for school workstations etc? Is it safe to mix and match?
