Are these machines being rebuilt witht the same name? What we have found is that we had to remove the machine from the SOLUS database, rebuild the machine and then place the machine back in SOLUS after, then the machines seems to deploy packages no problems.

agnosticism is the way forward. I'm not a betting man lol

Hi Chris, we had changed all ours to the universal driver, but being generic it stopped staff and pupils printing double sided etc, just moved back all printers to the KX driver after updating the servers and will see how things run....

Just applied the MS rollup that psydii across all the servers now. Going to be testing tomorrow.

I think its definately down to the papercut fudging the print spooler service. I migrated our main colour printer to our forest route (which never saw papercut) and its still sending rapid prints. I have a MS hotfix which I am going to roll out across the servers- this should repair the spoolers.
-
Hi there, It's the free version with the NG suffix of papercut, hence no support, but there is quite a lot of factors where things could have gone wrong (papercutNG/CC4 Printer credit service/drivers/print spooler)... Just installed our colour printer on our DC thats never had papercut installed I am going to roll out this printer site wide and see what happens!

Afternoon, Just wanted ask if anyone has ever had the same problem as us. During the summer our servers where migrated to 2008r2 and CC4 Management for a W7 desktop enviornment. Our printer fleet is uniform, all Kyocera which we have been quite happy with. All the relevent drivers were installed and all seemed fine during the holidays. One of my first tasks i undertook was to install papercutNG which we used on our W2003/CC3/XP enviornment with no issues. All our printers are spanned over servers 2,3 & 4 (we didn't wish to use the primary DC for obvious reasons). All was fine until WSUS restarted one of the servers (we left it at the log in screen, not logged in) and then the whole fleet starting slowing down to the point that after a day and a half, nothing would print. When we uninstalled papercutNG and suddenly the printer queues started to jump back into life *YAY*, but it was short lived as the speed degraded again and does every 24 hours with some printers throwing up errors. We chop and change between the universal drivers and the KX drivers but after a short while is slows down again. Current speed is around 90 secs for a test page to hit the printer to get the data LED flashing on the panel. This effects all 3 servers and are showing indentical symptoms, do you reckon i have mangled the print spooler?

Morning all, Got a strange one here, we have created a different colour background for each user type and for some reason or another, we can only get the staff user background to appear. I have checked the settings against all the others and nothing stands out as to why the desktop isn't changing? Has anyone any pointers? Thanks in advance!

Symantec and Office, I would guess that some service that was scanning outlook for viruses has borked and wont come off, seen this happen with McAfee and Office before, couldn't get MCPR.exe to run and couldn't cleanly remove Office. Had to rebuild, right pain in the harse. -

andyturpie replied to andyturpie's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Thanks for the feedback, I have located the registery policies for orphan profiles. I have set every shared device to delete profiles every 5 days will monitor this and if there is no joy, I will look at delprof2. Cheers! -
CC4 Unable to delete package from RMMC
andyturpie replied to MattGibson's topic in Network and Classroom Management
\\*Servername*\RMManage\repoman\filestore1 is where they are. On your first DC you should have an icon on the desktop called CC4 Repoman GUID Viewer. Run this and click on the right hand side to search. A list of GUIDS with their package name will appear. -
Morning, Just new to CC4 this week (migrated) and on CC3 we had a package which was deployed out every so often to run delprof.exe on workstation startup. We are now majority of Win7proSP1 machines and was wondering if delprof would still run or if there is another little package available? Cheers

issues in Win 7 synching outlook to live at edu
andyturpie replied to andyturpie's topic in Windows 7
Hi everyone sorry for the late reply, hand to take some leave, but I am now back in the chair - issue resolved, it seemed there was a GPO setting in Win 7 that needed to be changed to allow the TLS encryption through (XP didn't really care or worry about it). Took 3rd line to work it out, but all is good now - and again sorry for the lateness in coming back to you -
Morning fine people, First of all mods, I apologise for more than likely posting this in the wrong forum but feel free to move where is needed We have just migrated to Win 7 from XP and will start using outlook 2010 site wide. Last April we migrated our email system to live at edu which was great. Up until we migrated, we could on XP use the autofind on outlook to pull down our data, similar to an exchange server. Migrated my machine to Win 7 last night and the autofind kept telling me that Outlook was offline and I am completely stumped. I have entered in my IMAP/SMTP settings and i can get mail but only current inbox mail and ignores all my folders. Grrrr. Has anyone else hit this wall? I am stuck. Please help I am at my wits end! PS attempted same on XP system and works absolutely fine

"I've never lived closer to danger, but I've never felt safer. I've never felt more confident, and people could spot it from a mile away. And as for this, the violence? I gotta be honest - it grew on me. Once you've taken a few punches and realize you're not made of glass, you don't feel alive unless you're pushing yourself as far as you can go." "

RM OR NOT TOO RM THAT IS THE QUESTION
andyturpie replied to ChrisLinaker's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We are just midway through our CC3 to CC4 migration. I looked at all other options Vanilla,Impero,CSE and Ranger, but plumpt for CC4 as we found out that 3 years of using another system, the recurring charges outweighed the cost of CC4, the learning curve is smaller and downtime in migrating and re-imaging even less. -
lol sorry, I went on the bang per buck theory and how many they could supply for the amount of money.

I ran a procurement exersize last year on exactly the same basis, out of a handful of suppliers, no one could complete costwise with Viglen and also their on site warranty is dirt cheap as well. As above with the licencing, as Viglen recommended us to do that as well.
