I think society itself made a rod for it's own back. Even in the good times families were paying say £100+ days for entering into a theme park without actually questioning the real value of £100 pounds. The only way to live at the end of the day is to find ways to break yourself free from the shackles of the system. For instance actively monitor where your money goes - 9 times out of 10 granted that most of your money will eventually end up either in a tax haven or a rich shareholder who will hoard the cash and it will never be redistributed back into society, so look to spend what ever you have after tax deductions as local as you can. Energy bills? If we all nationally performed our own 3 day week with rolling lights out - the shareholders would be hit and I bet if we weren't spending with them, then prices would fall. Why do we also complain about low pay, when on the other hand the masses are quite happy to support tax avoiding, zero hour contract employing on line sellers just to save a few quid which then the bigger picture tells us that that process destroys societies' opportunities, the economy and leaves High Streets like ghettos.

We discounted swipe cards due to the number required over 1800 in total, plus its not uncommon to have around 30 usb sticks go missing a week here, we don't wish to add another spoke to the buckled wheel. As teaching staff, not one of them should be printing "sensitive" data. Although we have ensured that SMT have printers in their own office which do not need authentication.

Mad? I'm borderline furious lol.. As we are a CC4 network it was easier to go down the route of editing the username to numeric within RMMC. Okay, yesterday we had to sync back up a few Outlook mailboxes to 365, but so far it didn't cause too many issues. For us now the "issue" is not what the staff member uses, but how to stop any accidental or willful attempts to view another users print queue from the device.

Morning, We are due to roll out "Follow me" printing within the school in November. We have selected Papercut embedded devices. To keep things simplistic, on AD we have changed user names to numbers for staff (pupils use their enrolment number anyway), to make it quicker to authenticate at the devices. After my NM spending around 8 hours editing all the staff accounts we are still getting "concerns" around print queue security. My question is if you run this operation, how are you releasing prints more securely than just entering in your user ID or are staff here worrying over nothing? Cheers! AJT

Afternoon, Over the weekend,we are changing our staff log in from alpha to numeric codes. One question was that when the changes have been made in AD editing the usernames, will this filter down to folder permissions or will we have to recreate all our shares? Cheers!

Hi there, we run Kodu with no problems with a mid range core i3, 4gb RAM and SATA HDD. In fact, handles CS4 quite well with no strain on resources.

We do a complete school refresh every 3 years on lease (due to happen again next summer). At the moment we have core i7 and 4gb RAM in the art department (our IT office has i7 and 8gb RAM) and core i3 and 4gb in the rest of the school. Even with stuff like CS4 and Kodu run fine on the lesser specced workstations, it looks like we may stay with a new batch of that spec, but will cost less this time around, even with SSDs instead of SATAs.

If you visit the site look for the package blueprint - usually will contain step by step instructions on how to create the package. When you have a good working package which has been tested on one PC, usually, as long as you have sub folders on RMMC inheriting packages, deploying at the main site folder should go site wide.

We are using CC4 and for the last 3 years have run a fleet of Kyoceras (DN5200, DN3290, FSC 1020 & MFP 1128) throughout the school with no issues, only the seldom unmapped printer issue where a quick rebuild resolved. On Win2008r2 (64bit) servers and W7 (32bit) workstations. We currently use printer credits to control print, but in the next couple of months we are going to run papercut which we have tested as a demo and works well with CC4.

The guy who famously lost the ticket of £4 million quite a few years back is an old friend of ours. Wrote a novel loosely based on the subject.

If he was my employee, I would now be seriously worried about paying out all the expenditure on his travel - reality tells you as soon as he gets his first decent paycheck from the books, he will drop IT quicker than a flash. Find him a broom cupboard in Edinburgh with a decent connection speed and a VPN account lol until he hands his notice in lol.

We had this identical error message just last week on a workstation that wouldn't build and was as you say down to a faulty RAM stick. Apparently corrupts the OS .wim when pulling it down off the server...

LOL, I have been resisting it more than ever until now, but even the likes of issuing the PE staff with iPads, which are locked down with the Apple configurator and we cannot fathom out a way of them getting any photos into their own home folder.

Afternoon all, We are an RM CC4 school with office 365 so we use web based outlook for staff and pupils. We have been using RM Portico which allows us access to home and shared folders, but I am toying with the idea of using the skydrive app to sync their home folder to their skydrive space. Has anyone done this, what are the pit falls to watch and has anyone successfully created an msi file for RM Packaging? Any ideas most welcome

Hi Ben, cheers for the response, which is for a friend who works in another school, knew about the 4gb ceiling, but was wondering if having a single stick which half cannot be addressed would cause issues? I think he may be contacting the suppliers for a RAM swap if this is the case?

Morning quick question if you please. If you run a 32bit OS and have a single 8gb DDR stick in could this cause stability/freezing issues? I was always under the impression that DDR should be installed in identical pairs ie. 2x4gb sticks (with the option to remove a stick until 64bit migration). Any thoughts and comments welcome!

Any settings in the BIOS ie - legacy USB devices enabled etc?
