Afternoon, A non work related question here - Just finished building a new HTPC for my living room yesterday and I am using a new WDmycloud 4tb drive with all my resources on. I would like to set it up so that any device, whether its my dining room PC or the HTPC in the living room cannot accidentally deleted the contents from the NAS box. I have created folders on the NAS using the web console, but cannot fathom out if its the NTFS permissions on the two PC's which should be battened down or if I am missing some permission type thing on the NAS folders. End result I am trying to achieve is that both PCs should only have read access only to the mapped drives (might make an exception to Windows administrator logins) but really only being able to delete files and folders via the web console makes it less likely for accidental deletion!) Might just be something really simple that I am overlooking here.. Any help would be greatly appreciated

IIRC I think there is a deep sleep setting stopping WOL, the problem was we got a bit of ahead of ourselves making changes to both the BIOS and adapter driver settings and cannot fathom out what made it work lol.

Yes we use WPA2 and no one, not even the staff know it. But when they attempt to connect, DHCP will give them an address (granted this is more than likely an accident as all our SSIDs including the guests are quite similar).

Will give it a go Monday, just irks me seeing so many personal devices connected to the curriculum network (well not authenticated but hogging the addresses) - suppose if there is no way around this is do bring the lease of the addresses down in DHCP...

Yes we've gone from 60+ laser and inkjets down to 30 devices and includes the reprographic copiers (could have shrunk it by a further 50% if we could have encouraged SMT and others to give up their MFPs). Over the last 4 years I have managed to completely save what we spend on our old consumables budget. Papercut keeps a tight reign on those who are printing. So all is good here now.

No network isn't open, its the curriculum network. We have exported the WCF to the USB stick, which contains all the WPA2 key settings etc, but before we exported the profile, we ticked the connect to hidden SSID. Once you re-import the WCF, it doesn't remember the hidden SSID settings.

Afternoon, We have hidden the SSID of our curriculum network, due to the fact we have too many personal devices hooking up to IP adresses in our DHCP range A few days ago we had hid the SSID, and then all the staff laptops wouldn't connect the next morning. It came to light that the setting for automatically connect to hidden SSID was unticked. Which my tech had gone around everyone's laptop and switched in on. I don't know if it is an RM CC4 security default setting, but there is no way in the console to ensure that the box is ticked via the management console. We have exported the profile and had a look and there is config file (.wcf?) and was wondering if there is any additional code that could be added to the file that could include these settings to be turned on? Any ideas people?

@Techykev - This will be deployed across a W7 32bit platform for the moment. It seems to ignore every VGA driver in the build area.. @mdrabble - Three years ago we had the HD4000 and that was sorted by our 3rd line creating a CC3 or CC4 package and importing it in. I know it was a bit more complex than just snapshotting the install....

Morning, I have a stubborn Intel VGA driver which wont install on some evaluation workstations. We have the extracted driver, imported to the build area by pointing the correct .inf file I have also tried for the first time pointing the non extracted setup.exe to the build area and referencing the workstation on the network. Every rebuild there is just a standard VGA adapter. The last refresh our 3rd line managed to create a CC4 package and we then duly pushed it out to all the workstations and that then worked. However IIRC it was a bit more than firing up a clean machine, installing the driver and taking a snapshot with Winstaller LE. With near 400 machines looming, I do not wish to manually point the driver on each machine during the build process and was wondering if anyone has been successful and has a quick step by step process to their success that they could share? Cheers Galway, they only charge around £160 for these type of faults so it still is cost effective. Ideally I want to move away from projectors to touchscreens but for me to justify the cost per classroom I would need the IWB to fail...

We had this before, it was down to a flaky NIC driver, as soon as you uninstalled and re-installed the driver it kicked back into action. (All virtual machines now phew!)

We have had a bad run of luck with having two Hitachi ED-A101 projectors returned from repair (the known issue with the lens motor failing) - both returned with a new motor, but will not stop opening and shutting when powered on. It took two weeks turnaround IIRC for our 1st device and the 2nd device still hasn't been picked up again even though I booked it well over a week ago! (so well over 3 weeks without a projector in the classroom!) Boiling mad - Can anyone recommend a different repair company GRRRRRR! Cheers

It is tragic and last year there was a case in Edinburgh near the city centre, an elderly lady was found to have been found dead for more than a year and IIRC it might have been something like a non payment of a bill which triggered officials to arrive at the door. Unfortunately, we do not live in the late 70s or mid 80s when there was social cohesion, families have been thrown further apart over the last few decades in the search for work etc. Like Nephilim all my family are up in Scotland and with work commitments and the actual cost of the travel, I never see my side of the family as much as I would like to...

Dang - I got my hopes up there. In my discussions with OEMs though, they have always supplied me with their cheapest option licence when quoting for kit. I am suprised that the OP is having trouble with Viglen.

Are you saying to comply legally with EES only one purchase of a retail edition is needed? That could save a packet on my next 450ish station refresh...

My mistake, I am sure I remember years ago when a certain OEM refused to sell a customer a machine without a windows OS (as you say the customer wanted to run linux) - I was presuming that MS and the OEMs would have had some sort of agreement drafted up?
