  1. Thanks Caffrey - Yes we have VLANS set up. I presumed there would be some additional config setting somewhere. As I have no PI experience myself, this helps me a great deal - thank you!
  2. Afternoon All, We have a suite of 19 PIs connected via KVM to our Viglen Integras. Our school also has a guest WiFi network (Controller-less Aruba) which we would like to connect the PIs to via the Wi Pi adapters, however we have been told by the ICT teacher (Still need to see this to confirm) that issue is either with getting to the landing page (authentication) or the browser automatically opening another page post authentication (we are still unsure of which is the issue until we are shown). Has anyone else had an issue similar or know a way to resolve this? If I can turn up with a few ideas then it would be a great start! Thank you!
  3. Marigolds and Fairy Liquid - Never let me down yet.
  4. Not always about ambience - http://www.discogs.com/Power-Pill-Pac-Man/master/85047 reminds me of Carl Cox on 3 decks at the Eclipse in Coventry....
  5. Cheers Sted - What I did mean to say was only the driver deployment process would be better on physical as VMs don't really take drivers per say, so would look to strip the drivers out of a laptop whack them into SCCM and then test build it to see how it fares
  6. Some great feedback I want to look to set up something for learning about MDT, SCCM and creating/testing GPOs etc. (not really looked at any of these things at all yet) I have quite a decent PC so was looking at maybe a VM of 2008r2 or 2012r2 and using PXE to boot a blank VM to take it through the OS install, driver install (granted a physical client will be better to test this) and application deployment. If anyone has recommendations on how to set this up it would be most welcome.
  7. Over last weekend, Restless Natives, Small Faces and The Debt Collector. I'n not one for the big budget Hollywood films, go more for the low budget UK films myself.
  8. Think I have the hardware ticked I am running a 2nd Gen core i7 with 16gb RAM 240gb SSD and 4tb of conventional HDD, hanging off a 2 port KVM, but don't know whether to build another physical box (might come in handy as I would love to play around with ESXi etc. at some point too).
  9. As the title suggests how many of you have a test lab at home for mucking around with? I want to start to get to grips with a vanilla network and was wondering how for those that did, what is your set up? VM machines or a physical box etc?
  10. Lessons will be learned.......
  11. I bought myself one of these for personal use a while back, I brought it into work when we upgraded our Mac music suite to SSD drives. We also tried it on our windows clients - took around 35 mins per workstation I would highly recommend this. StarTech Standalone Hard Drive Duplicator Dock - Ebuyer
  12. Any interactive whiteboard which is attached via USB is fair game - this is decided at the plug and play driver installation of the build.
  13. Ha ha - I to followed your no disks mantra (I quite liked my Silverstone case without a drive in it) until my new partner who isn't at all techy minded wants to turn up to mine with films from her collection lol.
  14. Thanks LosOjos a quick look at that link and seems kind of straight forward, but a heck of a lot of mucking around for something which should in this day and age work straight out the box lol.
  15. Is there anyone with a HTPC that can recommend a way to set up Kodi formally (XMBC) to play back Blu Ray I have tried numerous codec packs plus installed other players but Kodi or even WMP for that matter don't pick up the codecs. It's not urgent as I don't personally own a Blu Ray disc (although my son has one disk which I have been using to test). Just thought I would treat myself to an internal drive for my living room HTPC, even though most of my films are ripped to my NAS box.
  16. Ah Gold brothers - the champions of Tartan tat and the bane of the life of many an Edinburgh resident.
  17. Still have quite a few of the Joyrex EPs within my collection from the early 90s.
  18. I meant disk to disk to disk backup - I have 2x2tb drives in my home server which are mirrored, which then is mirrored to my NAS
  19. Are you talking about my home or office one, the office one we don't back up as we just use it for storing iso files, legacy drivers and a landing for temp data transfers. My home one I use Acronis true image.
  20. We use a 410 with 4x2TB drives in the office - good solid bit of kit also.
  21. Playback is faultless over wireless between my virgin superhub and Blackberry playbook
  22. I have a 4Tb WD Mycloud on my home network - £160 from Maplins last March. Never let me down, apart from I suffered a power cut during my first firware update! Just as well I have a D2D2D backup discipline at home here
  23. My first Christmas as a widow so I will be taking flowers to the grave and spending an hour or so in the cemetery in the morning. Myself and my son will still be following our usual tradition by midday at the local pub with all the local families and then onto our friends house for the day (something we have done for around 7 or 8 years).
  24. Afternoon all, Just wondering if any schools are using the inVentry Visitor Management System on their site? Don't wish to contact the company directly at the moment as this could be along way off, if at all (staff resistance etc.) If you do could you please provide feedback on how it simplified processes for you and if you use the full functionality, SIMS integration to log in late pupils and track staff who leave the site etc. Also from the tech aspect, how the install fared any hiccups etc. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Andy T
  25. That's one of our "to check", list items we can score off then thanks!
