I think where some of the problem lies is that the younger generation (20s to 30s) who didn't experience the pre poll tax demo era, have to a certain extent have lived privilaged lives (even those who are class themselves as poor). Every home now has modern technology, hardly anyone walks anywhere (a lot are too proud to use public transport) and everything has been designed for convienience (or as I read it, laziness). The majority who saw through the hard times of the 70s and 80s where actually shoulder to shoulder with people who were brought up through the likes of WW2 who were continuously there to put things into perspective. People today seem to stuggle with self autonomy and responsibility, which is a shame.

I should say as above sometimes my opinions come across as a little extreme or hard faced to some. Being brought up in 1980s Leith in Edinburgh, I have witnessed first hand heroin addicts, people dying from HIV/AIDS (was the world capital of the disease at the time), mothers of school friends turning to prostitution, losing close friends to overdosing, being slashed through gang culture (by a former foe who later became my best friend). The person responsible for resisting and pulling away from that dark lifestyle (which could have been so easy to go down further) was myself and down to no one else. People have wondered why nothing phases me. What I have witnessed and what I have been through has toughened me up and now live with a "Don't moan about it, if your unhappy then sort it out" attitude.

We use acronis true image boot disk to FTP images to a large capacity NAS drive. On CC3 we had an encrypted image of every staff laptop. Within mins it was re-imaged. We now have just a few images that we can rapidly swap between an AV PC, clean machine for package building and a test machine image built to main site to test newly created packages. Comes in very handy! Since CC4 we never have bothered, just kick anything of for a rebuild that's needed.

If all else fails fire up an old 2003 32 bit box, the drivers seem stable on that platform.

KX drivers are the recommend ones from Kyocera. Never tried KPDL unless that's the offical title for the universal drivers which omit all the bells and whistles like double sided and watermarks etc>

I agree whole heartedly they ALL are contributing factors you mention but people's politcal persuasion will cherry pick some and shun others to suit their agenda. It needs to all be tackled at once in a pincer movement fashion, tax avoidance, benefits etc. Everybody needs to be in it together rich, poor, young and old.

It's not about staying together, its about getting absent parents to pay their way nothing more. The arguement about depriving kids by removing benefits is slightly flawed as we cannot be certain that all child credit cash is spent directly on children? Maybe it could be replaced by a restrictive voucher scheme?

Are you advocating lack of personal responsibilty?

Nail on the head there my friend. We're in the position that our joint income is always on the threshold before any benefits are triggered. I know of people who earn less, but are actually better off due to benefits giving them more disposable income that we have. Most decide not to buy into any pension scheme which allows the cash to be invested in regular family holidays, new technologies etc. The reason I am more worse off is that I have been a member of a pension scheme since my 18th birthday. When these people reach 65 (or what ever the pensionable age will be) will still have had a blast of a time whilst working and still manage to pick up a state pension! I would like to see child benefits only paid to those with BOTH parents appearing on a birth certificate (making an father absent or not legally responsible with no exceptions) - even deducting an absent fathers benefits to go back into the pot to cover. Anyone applying for state pension PROVE that they were not able to contribute to a private pension scheme, by submitting bank record history. my list is not exhaustive lol.

The problem is that High Street closures are taking place is because they played ball and paid all their taxes. Major on line only retailers having been exposed as tax avoiding scumbags (no names), where their customers are guilty of accessory to tax avoidance. These customers are usually the one's that kick off when there are cuts backs in services and on infrastructure. These customers usually call someone to say their "stuck in traffic" but won't admit they are "part of the traffic", these customers complain on one hand about wishing the nanny state would but out of their lives on one hand but scream "What is the government doing?" on the other. These customers are you and ME. These customers are society.

Good point, but just because a bank offers a service or deal (lets say allow mortgages on ad hoc overtime payments) , we as individuals should be intelligent enough to stop and say "thanks for the offer Mr Banker, but no deal". Again banks did behave recklessly, but only dancing to the tune of the customers no demand, no reckless gambling.

We all as individuals have to take a slice of responsibilty for the mire we are in. Too many of us living their lives on the old flexible friends, we complain that we are poor, but we have luxuries like large screen TV's, all the best gadgets and are part of the throwaway society. We don't really know the meaning of poor, like our parents and grandparents. I see Osbourne only reacting to society's actions.

Thanks for the response. When we are gradually bringing our admin into CC4 land, (when we had CC3, we left them outside on Vanilla machines). As an all girls school here, we have only suffered a handle of data storms over the years, when staff have accidently created a loop by placing loose patch cables back into a vacant socket. Maybe there is no real need and may add unneccesary complexity to our network then lol.

We have Chrome packaged on CC4 here and deployed to all workstations. The only issue is that we need to fire up IE with our proxy settings contained (and then close it) before chrome will work.

Afternoon, Just wondered if anyone using RM CC4 has split their physical into VLANS e.g. curriculum and admin, just wondered how if attempting this would affect running of the RMMC, rebuilding workstations etc. New to VLAN'ing so just trying to get my head around it all lol. Cheers!

We have used Room Booking System by these guys for 3 or 4 years now, the staff love it. Marcus and the team behind were excellent at helping us tailor it to our needs, so another plus 1 here

We are completely Kyocera here 28x 2920dn 5x5200dn 5x1128MFP and 3x1020mfps but have had issues upon issues since migrating to W2k8r2/W7/CC4 - every couple of server restarts the printer queues die and they need to be recreated from scratch. This was no issue on CC3 and win XP!

It did arrive at our school with "Fragile" written all over it lol.

Looks like our issue was DNS related, RM found out that DNS on our replica domain was listening over 3 different ranges 192.x.x.x 172.x.x.x and 10.x.x.x. This was changed to only listen on 172.x.x.x and then RMDatabase could then be reached. Shutdown Friday and restarted to find the same settings replicated back to our Domain Controller - hows our luck!

I've created a program set called staff quick links and then placed all my shortcuts into there.

will give that a look at cheers! Also our replica DC had just recovered from a BSoD.... why meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
