  1. Anyone help please: We have an issue where we need to connect some PC's into our DMZ, we have setup a new vLan (51) and connectivity into the device in the DMZ works fine if you connect via an access port on the switch. However we have a need to multihome some PC's as they need access to this software, so for example we need to keep the machine on the main internal network, but then give the machine a second IP address so that when they need to connect to that software, they can do. This works in priniciple and for about 10 minutes once we have set the machine to do this, the machine can connect and ping to both the internal network and the one in the DMZ. After about 10 minutes the Windows machine stops connecting to the network which doesnt have the trunk native vlan set on the switch port. Connectivity still works as if we reset the ip on the Windows 7 machine it will start connecting again, and then fail again within 10 mins (hence we know it isnt a network issue, no port errors and always works). The switchport is configured as a trunk, so Switchport mode trunk Switchport trunk allowed vlan 31,51 Switchport trunk native vlan 51 We cannot add the device in the DMZ onto our network and route to it etc due to it being a 3rd party device, basically not sure why the Windows machine works fine for 10 minutes and then suddenly stops working.
  2. We are currently building a test Moodle platform and have come up on these two lines in the Moodedata instuctions If your server supports ACL it is recommended to set following permissions, for example if your Apache server uses account www-data: # chmod -R +a "www-data allow read,delete,write,append,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /path/to/moodledata If you are planning to execute PHP scripts from the command line you should set the same permissions for the current user: $ sudo chmod -R +a "`whoami` allow read,delete,write,append,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /path/to/moodledata These are on the Linux instructions but they dont look correct for Ubuntu, does anyone know which instructions would be needed for Ubuntu?
  3. After speaking to Sisra support they have provided us with a new version, this is now working fine.
  4. Is anyone using Sisra? The application comes with an excel add in, until recently this was allowing us to go onto online mode, but recently this has stopped, we use Smoothwall. When looking at the filtering nothing is being blocked and both Sisra.com and Sisraanalytics.co.uk are in the white list.

  7. ok, ill take a look, cheers
  8. Just looking for a little Cisco help here. I want to implement a BYOD network on our school network, we have a Smoothwall firewall at the front of the network. What i want to do is have the BYOD traffic on its own subnet 10.116.0.0/16 and route directly to the Smoothwall interface it has on 10.116.0.1 The rest of the network has a default route (multiple subnets via their DG) to 0.0.0.0 10.115.79.253 I have DHCP and DNS working fine to the Smoothwall interface as these are on the same subnet, but traffic is routing via the subnet gateway of 10.116.255.254 when it needs to get to the internet, then onto the 0.0.0.0 10.115.79.253, so traffic from the BYOD network is routing onto the other subnets. What i want traffic on this subnet to do is go directly to the Smoothwall interface setup for BYOD and never go onto the other subnets, So basically what rule to i need to set on the vlan to tell traffic to basically go to 10.116.0.1 instead of going off the subnet. The only way i can think of doing this at the minute is to remove the ip from the vlan but this then allows students to change their IP's on their mobile devices and mess about. Any ideas?
  9. Does anyone know an easy way to print all of a communication log without having to either click on every message and click print, or run a bespoke report. Capita help desk is on form and being useless, just sending me the instruction manual every time i ask even though there is no information about this in there. Thanks in advance
  10. Its not an issue if they are wanting to put everyone on Mono, we use the UD2 for the general office which is mono then have a separate print que for those who need to use the enhanced features. Solves the issue of print level detection.
  11. We have this working so just a couple of things to check, on the printer ensure that the option for colour detection is set to page level, then we have the option in advanced set to convert to grey scale, this stops colour printing. We use the Sharp UD2 PCL6 as it is the driver communication that is how Papercut detects if it is colour or mono, it didnt work on standard detection.
  12. Yep for the minute its Emerge for us, price isnt everything but unfortunatly school budgets arent what they used to be and its 3x the price. However unless the Capita issues are addressed then it isnt a viable option anyway, most important think for me is does it work well as teachers wont use it if its got issues
  13. We have had numerous calls logged with Capita and have also been told the teacher restriction wont be lifted. The service bus isnt an issue but as with emerge it is significantly slower than it being local, this is to be expected but you dont get the choice with the teacher app, It will be next year i think when we will reasses the differences and decide again, Sims is much cheaper but i think a few things need ironing out before we can be confident enough to move.
  14. We have just tried the Sims teacher app and have found a few issues. It has to use a microsoft account, all data has to go via the ms service bus (emerge can go direct making it much faster), it has crashed multiple times when testing (emerge on same system has no issues), the the big on is only a person registered as a teacher in sims personelle can use it, we have all our ta's etc using emerge for behaviour and also have hlta's who register forms, they cannot use the Sims app due to this Sims can do Marksheets but this is a feature update in Emerge in a couple of weeks. Sims is cheaper though by quite a lot as we already host SLG but for the minute after a week with Sims im sticking with Emerge, if Capita sort the issues though this may change next year unless Emerge drop the pricing.
  15. It depends on if you are hosted or not, we are in house so it is capped at £1250 pa, hosted very expensive. Its much cheaper than what we are paying emerge though.
