Unless it's me who's helping out.
  3. Ahhh, you running a Cetrally LA managed SOLUS3 environment? All our schools have their own S3 environments.
  4. I had one once, listened to the usual blurb he splurted out. I just said I'm an IT professional and he immediately hung up. Always tempted to have a XP VM on standby loaded with add bars, spam, viruses etc etc and let them connect through to it. I really like @Sunnyknights idea too.
  5. You don't even have to go that far. Simply rename the C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net folder to C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net.OLD or something like that, then do a re-deploy of the SIMS Client to the server using the last Successful/Partially Successful deployment. Simples.
  6. So I guess it would be simplest to leave it up to SOLUS3 to deploy the agent then?

When you come to play, Lingor is slightly different to the standard DayZ mod. On Lingor the island is slightly smaller, has more towns/villages, a lot more functioning vehicles and a LOT more military bases where you can get great weapons and ammo from. Takes about an hour in Lingor to get geared up to the max and when you die, it's quite easy to get back to your body or re-arm from scratch. This has the effect of making everyone a bit more "gun ho"... Such items in the vanilla DayZ mod are a lot more scarce and dyeing becomes more of a problem as it takes longer to get back to your body (which chances are will have been picked dry and hidden by the time you get back to it) and also takes longer to get geared up. So when you move from Lingor to vanilla DayZ, don't let the fact that you struggle to find good gear and regular dyeing put you off. It's up to you how to play DayZ and it can make a big difference. Sneaky? Crawling, prone, hidden, silent, running away from gunshots and other survivors? Hero? Gearing up, announcing yourself to others who need help, joining in on gunfights to take down bandits, only to take the risk of being shot in the back of the head when you least expect it? Bandit? Why gear up when you can just kill others and take their stuff? Or general A-hole? Gear-up, then sit along the coastline killing new spawns that have no gear, guns or ammo, just because you can (and for the LOLZ).

No, mumble is a separate open-source voice app. You can download the client from here: Mumble This thread here has the address to connect to: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/gaming/53754-edugeek-mumble-server.html

Unsure yet. Got somethings on but till be on for a game of something at some point. So many choices! Few mateswill be on NF4, I've started on Skyrim again and am getting hooked, DayZ SA has just had a large update that may require checking out, and talk of DayZ Mod Lingor makes me want to play that too!!! So many games, so short a weekend! Do you have a headset? Be sure to get on the Edugeek mumble server when you play just in case. As if I would do such a thing!!!!
  10. UAC/Permissions. FMS will create a FMSConnect.ini file in the FMS folder with a redirect line to the S: drive, but it will be deleted after FMS is closed. Right click and run FMS as Admin to permanently store the FMConnect.ini, or manually create one.

Been a while but I think it was no more than 1GB. Yea, if your playing the mod, DayZ commander is THE tool to have. You can download and update new maps, join servers, set up a 'friends' list etc. It's really good.

+1 for Lingor. It is GREAT fun on a populated server! @Dopefish can confirm the sheer amount of shenanigans that we've experienced on it! Humm.... may get it on the go again this weekend....
  13. Seen this a couple of times and it's bugging me as I'm not sure what's causing this error, or what the error even means! Added a new devices into the SIMS channel of SOLUS3. Added domain admin credentials to get the agent installed. The agent status goes to 'Install Active' and after a few seconds, turns to 'Install failed' and this error is returned: Any ideas?
  14. Another one for @matt40k I would believe. Never looked at putting the Agent in an image so not sure how (if you can!). Unless I'm missing something obvious, I'd say "Why bother?" as you'll still have to go into the SOLUS3 UI and add the device in to the appropriate channel(s) and then add domain admin credentials to get the relevant software installed. You may as well not bother as SOLUS3 will just install the agent for you if it's not already on the machine anyway.
  15. At this Rate, the will be a full "Matt40k's S3 Admin Suite"!
  16. I've not migrated any sites yet to 2012 so can't accurately comment, however I would 'assume' it's the same process as moving SOLUS3 between servers. Something like this maybe? 1. Detach SOLUS3 from old SQL2008 2. Install a blank SOLUS3 DB on the new SQL2012 3. Delete the newly installed blank database 4. Copy the S3 database from SQL2008 Data folder and dump it in the SQL2012 Data folder 5. Attach it to SQl2012 instance using SQL Management Studio 6. Delete the old security user from the database (\$) 7. Uninstall SOLUS3 service and UI 8. Re-install new S3 services & UI and point them to SQL2012 instance 9. Re-register the UI and then manually correct the SIMS, FMS and Discover channels to point them all to the new SQL2012 locations 10. Update the agents to point to the new instance
  17. Photo. Or it never happened.
  18. What is this? 1984 or something?! Come to rub it in some more eh?
  19. And drunken support ramblings too.... "Have you tried reconnecting the floggletoggle to the humdrumit? I'm sure that will fix the cobobulator......"
  20. While most of the Admins & Mods are at BETT, let's crack out the Edubeers and have a party!

    BETT Blog?

If you don't have an account, just keep open in a tab and monitor it for new tweets from BETT every 10 minutes or so.
  22. Same for me too! However I do have two fresh cinnamon swirl pastries to much on in a bit.

    BETT Blog?

BETT have a Twitter feed that may be worth keeping an eye on, looks like it's being posted on oftern. Also if there are some specific companies your interested like Capita or @VeryPC for example, follow them on Twitter too as they all seem to be active posting about various BETT related things. Oh, and follow Edugeek too!
  24. We need a 'People who could not got to Bett' thread so we can chat about non-BETT relate things and free pizza!!!
  25. Also, read the Q&A section!
