SIMS DOCUMENT SERVER IS NOT RUNNING -Local install
Rawns replied to adminstaff's topic in MIS Systems
If you don;t want to restart your machine, just manually start the service by right clicking on it. -
Just to clarify, are you doing a FULL FMS install (including database) from scratch? or just a clean install of the FMS client?
-
We use it at our LA for remote support to schools. It works well most of the times but more whenever they have platform updates, it usually breaks one aspect of it for a few days which is rather annoying! You also do have to have an agent installed on the remote device but it is a very powerful tool for the price. You can get a free account which allows you to have 5 'managed' devices and unlimited 'OnDemand' devices too so well worth a try to see how you get on.
-
Are you installing it manually with the ISO or via SOLUS3?

@matt40k for SOLUS3 Project Lead!!!

Ihad this on a workstation once. A uninstall/reinstall of the client did the trick. Also check the transfer service is running on the server. Is this on just one device running Discover, or all of them?

In honour of this man's great life and dedication to entertaining, I will be calling everyone Dave for the rest of the day. I've been re-watching Only Fools these past few weeks and forgot how highly entertaining and re-watchable it really is. Trigger was up there as one of the best characters. Same goes for his role of Owen in Vicar of Dibley.

[sims] SOLUS3 - Reset 'Install Active' Agents Utility by Matt40k
Rawns replied to Rawns's topic in MIS Systems
I know this is targeted at agents. What would also be great is the ability to reset deployments with a status of "Rollback in progress" to failed. We've had a few crashed roll backs at various sites resulting in this status. -
I've found it's usually an odd permissions issue to the SIMS .net folder where some files cannot be updated due to read only access. Or where for some reason, SIMS is open and hidden in the 'background'.

I'm actively going down the gym now. I still have days where I feel I CBA but they've recently replaced their gym kit. All the new stuff has full on in-built in Android tablets, iPod docks etc so the geek in my finds it fun to browse reddit on a cycling machine! If you find you need a distraction, or motivation, while doing your running, I can highly recommend the Zombies! Run! app and the Zombies! 5k! apps. You run and have an audio story along side it. Zombie hordes trigger you to run faster, and you get items at the end of your run to reinforce your home base! It's awesome! Available on Android and iOS: https://www.zombiesrungame.com/

[sims] SOLUS3: Another depolyment is currently in progress. Current status: idle
Rawns replied to tech-man's topic in MIS Systems
You should go into freelance SOLUS3 support @matt40k! You'd make a KILLING, and you can bet there would be guaranteed work for you for the next couple of years! -
Solus3 Autumn Upgrade - Tolerance not met for target SIMS Database
Rawns replied to bertster's topic in MIS Systems
Anything in the log file? Go into the deployment history and select the deployment, then "View deployment detail". Find the 'failed' database upgrade and click on view deployment log. That should give you some info as to what's happening. -
Mind if I ask for what reason? They would be no good unless you have SOLUS3, and if the other school lost them for any reason, or they became corrupt, they could just instantly re-download them in SOLUS3.
-
There are none essentially with SOLUS3. It keeps them in a unique pkg format. They are all downloaded and stored in the SOLUS3 Repository share dir.
-
So you can speed up time? Like x2, x4, x6, x8 etc? Easier to fly a plane at x8 speed then drive a truck I bet!
-
Question: So how does 'in game' time work? Surely you don;t just sit at your PC driving a lorry for a 12 hour stretch?
-
Can't argue with that...
-
"Yes I can transport your depleted uranium rods and "dispose" of them safely". One week later, arrested for fly tipping...
-
Good stuff. Hopefully that should point you in the right direction for any other devices you have issues with. When it comes to SOLUS3, DNS can be a serious pain in the rear!
-
Does this have online play? Sounds like it could be a fun arena for shenanigans, like driving on the wrong side of the road! game of chicken anyone?
-
What IP address does the workstation in question have? Does it match the IP address that's returned when you ping the name? If not, do a ping -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and see what name is returned.
-
Sounds like it could be DNS issues. If firewall is off, it's the only other main reason why they would be offline in SOLUS3 (unless the S3 agents had died on all the devices).
-
I did the EXACT same thing yesterday on a quadbike. Bombing it like a boss, bail out while moving and splat against the remains of a building. Makes me laugh every time! Fair play though, an awesome video compilation! Can we expect more in the future?
-
A full upgrade will only be successful if every defined device in SOLUS3 gets upgraded first time round. If any are offline or fail, then the best you'll get is a 'Partially Successful' upgrade. If you 'redeploy' to one device and it upgrades, that separate 'redeploy' entry in the deployment history will be Successful. Yep, I still get this from time to time. Can;t decide if it's a SOLUS3 bug or very bizarre Capita logic!!!
-
Once your using SOLUS3 in a school, forget the Setups folder. Archive it if youhave to so it's not used as it's obsolete and no longer used or updated.
