Find a new registrar and then get EMBC to transfer the domain to it My Personal stuff is with Carl @ CSNewMedia - he should be able to host it for you.

For Apple devices this is quite good - Meraki Systems Manager I beleive an Android app is in the pipeline.

Look it up here It will tell you who you domain is registered to (it will only work for .uk domains). You can then request this to be transferred.

For Office 2007 there is a Hotfix - as yet I don't think there is a hotfix for 2010. Its only an issue with SP1 so i presume at some point M$ will release a similar hotfix for 2010.

You have the features they just need to be done remotely i.e Group Policy management etc

If its only for have a secondary copy in case of server failure (without users actually accessing data) then I can't see a problem - essentially its a backup anyway?

it varies completly with Primarys - it could be anywhere from 13/14k through to 22k FTE (full time equivalent as some are Term Time only).

I say having been and worked at this place it makes some places look very very small in comparison. Crowds are at around 130,000. Silverstone themseleves cannot be blamed for the Campsites AFAIK they are completely separate and if you turn up on other weekends in the year they have cows in. Major Investment has been made in the infrastructure around it (I've been around 20 times in the last 4 years) and a lot has changed. They are however also trying to push for more things like Music events to be held inside the track to raise funds towards more improvements.

Fog is an open-source automated deployment system (you can remotely image machines as you set all pc's to boot to the network and if there is a job waiting they do it if not they boot normally). Only half the server's where virtual. Didn't have a big enough SAN to Virtulize file servers (needed about 1.4TB). So FS where still physical most others where Virtual Bar a Physical Web server (this was used heavily by both internal and external users as we sold SAAS to other schools which funded a wedge of the budget). We had a yearly budget of around £140,000 ($215,000) though so could afford 4/5 year cycle (where moving to a 5 year cycle as hardware had 5 year warranties). EDIT: The reason the funding is high as well if beucase the school previously had 6 technicians, a senior tech and Net Manager and we moved (agreed with SLT/Govenors) to a model with less staff but more funding. So actually the school is saving around 50-60k pa.

I'm afraid I'm not that lucky!!! I don't live or work there! - this if a few clients I have there which happen to be with hundreds of meters from an exchanges. Where I was previously was out in the sticks and we got a 100Mb line from M247 for about 12.5k which wasn't bad for the location (BT wanted 24k, Easynet wanted 18k and Talk Talk about 16K). It does help on the location and even in central london you can struggle. The same client that got offered a 100mb leased line with fair usage struggles for get 1Mb on an ADSL line which they use on guest wireless. They are less then 800m from an exchange which is completely geared for Leased line (being in a Financial district). The ADSL infrastructure isn't up to par and probably won't be improved for a long time!

To be honest if you are going to have a Large Server with DPM installed would it not be easier to add a couple of extra Disk drives to it and also include that in the DFS replication? Therefore you saving you bill on electrics? The disk costs will cover themselves in leccy after a year or so.

Having been speaking with ISP's this last few weeks for various customers a lot of them are just offering 100mb lines now in built up areas (i've been looking around Central London - Bridge, Bank that sort of area). And instead of capping the speeds they just apply fair usage. I think they are starting to realise in some places that they have to pay for a 100mb cable so whats the point in throttling it down. For most users that won't need a full 100mb line it does give the flexibility when needed to peak to the higher speeds.

I've dropped about a stone so far - Still training for my 10 miler in October. Been also doing weights though so can't really go on weight as increased muscle a lot especially in my legs!

Used to, moved out of education now - software is only an issue if its a: setup wrong b: just rubbish software c: user incompetence. It was a school with 900pcs (19 suites) 120 projectors about 80 IWB's. 12 MFD's, 30 odd printers. 35 servers mix on Linux and windows. using kvm for hypervisior. voip ip phone system. We had a set policy that your machines got replaced on a schedule. No individual user in a dept got new pc before another. therefore they only see other subjects getting them and complain less. Fog for deployment so if a machine was broken refog and it's back online within 40mins.

We also dumped our lea's offering and went with our own line and a smoothwall. You need Smoothtraffic for QOS features I believe although you might be able to do user qos in the web proxy settings.

My last place we where 1 - 450 but all machines where less then 4 years old and all had next day warrantied. Hardware wise the support needed was minimal.

Not tried voice roaming with ours yet, data roaming is fine - will be interesting to hear how you get on. I'm rolling out 8 x MR16's to a client this week (one at each office). have you done any work with there switching? Trying to get myself an NFR unit but we signed up as a wireless partner!

Which Macbook out of interest? My boss has a MB Pro and hasn't had a single problem - we are using the MR16 as these where the NFR unit's we received from them.

Whats the warranty like? Can you afford to keep one spare incase one fails? I know with most of the HP Kit its lifetime warranty'd and cheap enough to keep either a spare gigabit or 10/100 switch. You still stacking switches?

I would say defiantly go for IT. Secondary schools have a lot of things to play around with and gain experience!
