As Cybernerd says it isn't best practice, As mentioned on twitter. What is sounds like is that you need to setup an internal record for moodle.doamin.blah.blah internally to point to its internal ip rather than its external. Otherwise all traffic is trying to go out to the internet and then back in again which most firewalls do not like!

Have the permissions changed on the simsroot folder? other than that is uac enabled on the machine?

do they have read/write perms to it? I think there was a GPO that set them. Also paste up what it says

Basicly what @localzuk said - although to be honest I recommend a lot more than 1 interface for client traffic. I tend to have 2 x ISCSI, 2 x management 2 x VMotion and 4 x client traffic split across the main board and a PCI cards.

Not quite . I don't tend to work much in schools now but the main way you are going to find out if you plan works is actually testing it. I have done loads of DR tests and only 1 has worked 100% first time and you don't want to be finding these issues out when you are under the cosh of getting things in place.

Well to be honest a full DR plan really is required for each of the sites - I know it sounds like a huge task but to be honest its not really. The plan should include: 1. What happens with backups i.e how they are backed up - to what, does it go offsite etc etc 2. How to restore normal files (pretty much what you test now). 3. What should happen if the building burnt down - what would be required to restore things and the steps to do it i.e new server (specs etc) 4. Actually run this test and ensure you could essentially restore the entire network back to how it is now.

That's no problem I couldn't remember it from the top of my head after the training - I think for a Business which needs decent content filtering to stop staff its excellent. For an educational environment I would recommend more looking at a Dynamic content filter such as Smoothwall or the others out there. As the Meraki offering using Bright Cloud is purely list based not involving content analysis on the fly (its done centrally by bright cloud and lists generated). Bright cloud are an intellegence gatherer and integrate their lists/intellegence into third party products such as the Meraki units. In terms of performance I can't comment on the specs for the content filtering as not used it in anger. A MX80 will give you 250mbs throughput which should be plenty for your needs IMHO.

These devices are brilliant, in terms of usage an MX80 should do the trick for you. Although I am not 100% sure the filtering is as robust/manageable as the likes of a Smoothwall device etc but in terms of a firewall and the ability to Layer 7 traffic shape/firewall they are awesome. Plus site to site VPN's which "Just work" Also remember you require outbound ports opened for the Meraki Management. The filtering content lists in the devices is downloaded from a third party. I will find out who supplies the list.

if you ring the uk pro number you speak with IBM. The only issue i have had with the support was on a brand new lenovo twist which had an issue on arrival and they didnt have the parts as it was so new!

IBM still do the support in the UK. And it depends what machines you get. My lenovo is very robost and so are the other machines i have worked with.
