We are in an office full of blokes - I don't know what those plant things are!

I know about the hot air (i can pump that out easily) water is just a bit of an issue due to its location.

We have a small room within our offices here which house couple of our test servers (everything else is in a DC). We need to cool the room as the servers kick out a fair bit of heat. My requirements are that it doesn't require a hose to release water out and ideally can be set to auto power on if the power fails (although we could UPS it). it doesn't have to be hugely powerful as it will only be a few servers (ML370 G5 and 2 Dl380's). Any recommendations?

I've just come across Migrationwiz.com Although on a large scale migration it might be a touch expensive.

I think the issue is that it has an I5 CPU, an intel gpu plus an AMD graphics card in it. My next step is to 8.1 when I can be bothered to completely wipe my machine and reinstall, at the moment I am happy with it as it has everything I need and just how I like it. Will probably happen at XMas

Yes but not all devices have up to date drivers - see here. Internet Explorer 10 does not install on some hybrid graphics systems Mine is a Thinkpad Edge E420s, to be honest i'm not that bothered as I use chrome anyway, The E420s has an AMD radion card along with an Intel Graphics chip.

What graphics card do you have in the machine? My laptop won't actually install IE10 due to a known compatablity issue with certain Graphics setups.

Then Ideally you want to be doing exchange 2010/2013 with DAG groups it is a hell of an improvement.

The main problem you will find (I imagine) is that servers of this type are designed for almost sterile enviroments and in the average school server room there would be too much dust to make these a viable option.

Not with Hyper-V as such but with Server 2008 R2 as the host

Personally I feel teachers should not be supplied with laptops. However the pot of money should not just be reclaimed but spent on alternative solutions (which probably would be cheaper) for setting up remote access to the schools systems whether it be via remote desktop services - some kind of SSL gateway (like the juniper ones) etc.

I'm fairly sure it is because the timestamp is when a file (in this case VHD) is fully written to and disconnected from. So when the server shutdowns the VHD is completely written too and left alone. While the server is running the VHD is constantly open and written too therefore the last time its written too is so far behind. In terms on why the backup is like this is because when it is restoring the file it is restoring it to is last known data and this happens to include a time stamp of potentially a long long time before the backup was taken. As during the backup the file isn't fully closed etc. The same with Snapshots, VM snapshots are totally different to Storage Snapshots in that the primary disk is frozen and a new disk created that any modifcations are written too, hence the reason snapshots should not be left open as they can potentially if left open long enough grow to a huge size and fill up the disk (i mean I have seen a snapshot for a 40GB drive be over 100gb)

Technically not what it is designed to do but if you could use the lower end KEMP loadbalancers to do this - I say lower end because you won't need the SSL offloading etc. Plus it's really easy to setup - 10/20 mins once you have the jist of it.

HP - Always and the lower end tho @BenMcDougall - I have never seen that.

I see this all the time with HP switches - managed, web managed and unmanaged - never worked out why. On reboot the ports come back.

You shouldn't do - unless the machine is x64 and you might need to change the path. The agent may be located with another place. That was for epo 4.6 I think

It's worth trying - but from my experience of LA networks you will struggle to get the performance required for it. How many concurrent calls would you be looking at?

Are you going to want to run it over a Local Authority network?
