@aicrd @noelmm Yes the satellite installations files should not be publicly available. You still need a valin licence file to use Nova-T6, whether as standalone or via a SIMS licence

The last time I enquired about the cost of Nova-T6 standalone, which was in Jan 2019, I was told the one off license cost was £1247.5, and the ongoing yearly fee would be £994 - that was for a school with less than 250 pupils on roll. Was e-Timetable not able to produce the timetable you needed?

Nova-T can be purchased as a standalone licence. If your external contractor is using Nova-T6 to construct the timetable she/he needs to go to Data > Export to Third Party Systems, and select to export in XML format. This will create a number of files - NCLASS.XML, TBTRA.XML, TBTRB.XML, TBTRC.XML etc. They can then zip up the xml files together and send them across to you. Extract the xml files to a folder and in Bromcom go to Modules > Curriculum > Apply Timetable Model (Nova-T6). Point Bromcom to the location of the NCLASS.XML file and the other TBTR files and click Process.

If you are a SIMS user you can get a SIMS Parent/Student App licence free of charge until 31 August, setup a SIMS Assessment Indivdual report for the exam results in advance, and then on the day you receive the results file, once they have been imported into Exams Organiser, generate the assessment reports and set them to publish in the student app for the following day

Capita were providing schools with free access to the SIMS Student/Parent App until 31 August 2020, if they were already using SIMS Parent Lite. It is possible to create a SIMS Assessment Individual Report using the exam aspects and then publish that report to the Student app (and Parent app). Students would then login to the app on whatever device they have and access the report showing their exam results.

Yes it can be installed on a home PC if you wish. Bear in mind that you will need to obtain the keys from the exam boards that you use and import them into A2C. You will not have a record of any transactions carried out previously either.

If you are using SIMS one can specify a UDF to appear in registers as an additional column. Unfortunately you cannot do the same in assessment templates. You would need to copy the contents of the UDF into an aspect to have that info appear.

Adding in student information columns to the template should mean that they are present in all associated marksheets. If you have added them it at the template level I would try deleting the linked marksheets, saving the template and then reattaching the marksheets and saving.

Pricing information I have from Oct 2015 for the Teacher App was £2 per pupil or 1 user £204 per year, 2 users £324 per year or 5 users £600 per year. So if it is just the PE staff using it, it may be cheaper to licence it on a per user basis.

Are you paying for the Teacher App on a per user basis? One can get the app on either a per pupil or per user licence.

When running the School Report it should bring up the 'School Report' dialog box that allows you to select which sections to include in the report. Accepting the defaults and clicking on 'Generate' will then produce the report: If the report does not run correctly in your SIMS you should speak to our support people to get it sorted.

The Student/Staff/Group listing pages don't work correctly in Firefox but everything else seems to work in Firefox. I know Bromcom would say Chrome is recommended but I would prefer to use Firefox....and shouldn't a web based MIS be browser agnostic?? Besides that small gripe it's a great MIS.

If a primary school currently wants to 'upgrade' to SIMS 8 then Capita will ask how the school currently uses SIMS 7 so they can advise if they'd be a suitable candidate to switch. I think that tells you all you need to know about it's 'out of the box' readiness for primary schools. SIMS 8 for secondary schools is even further down the line. For a cloud based MIS then Bromcom is 'out of the box' ready now for secondary schools...as is iSAMS (although I've only experience of that from an Independent school perspective). I think RM Integris is another cloud based MIS that caters for secondary schools, but I've only got experience of it in primary schools.

The UI/UX are basically the same for both phases. The teacher register for Primary schools has a 'simplified' look but for an all through school I'd imagine the 'original' register styles would be presented for consistency.

Bromcom has an exams module. As a ex-Exams Officer I can advise that it is very easy to use and has all of the functionality one finds in SIMS Exams Organiser. Re timetabling - Bromcom can accept timetables from it's own eTimetable software, Nova-T6 and Keith Johnson's Timetabler.

Adding a period for one day If a school wants to have an extra period on one day - e.g. periods per day 5, one day to have 6, then the number of periods per day will have to be 6 for all days in the timetable cycle. On the days when this extra period is not required it can be 'blanked' to make scheduling easier and to avoid items being automatically or manually scheduled on unused periods. To do this, add Exclusive period types on the Cycle, or Year blanking blocks on the Model screen. The extra periods are displayed on timetables on days when they do not take place, there is currently no way of removing them from the display or the printout.

You could possibly edit the SEN Provision Type lookup to add in exam concessions? (Tools > Lookups > Maintain)
