Sharepoint data storage is free for educational use but Azure files are not. I would only use Azure file storage for special cases it also a bit of a challenge setting up authentication to azure file storage to use AD users credentials. Also I am not sure many MIS support using Azure SQL. Remember your on prem AD sever can be in Azure. I do feel that the original MS/Edugeek cloud guide needs some updating. I would say don’t lift and shift file servers it might make sense to lift and shift others. DR may work better in the cloud it may mean no hardware to be purchased.

Some desk don’t need a Dante card form day one. They have the interfaces with suitable outputs for most uses. Just remember that the stage box/can be over a £1k each!

Do people feel that £25 for a cable is reasonable? If that was the charger as well I would understand. Mandating this standard will mean that reasonable quality cables and charges will be available for a fair price.

I would always go digital as your desk can create a custom layer/layout you can have a simple layout for the less skilled user. Both the si impact and TF1 can do custom layers I used both liked both. I was never required to do AES 50 patching. X32 compact would be worth a look. I like digital as it means I get all the compressor, gates and groups i am used to on a big desk with lots of outboard.

That a good point you might have not have multicore deployed in your school. You could hire in a digital multi core for shows for the extra channels.

It a school you want to be able to password protect certain aspects of the desk or have a USB with the saved settings.

The one issue is what have you done with directory service? What have you used to replace AD? Why do you always get these types that try and go against the schools tech just because they are a head teacher. I thought head teacher where supposed to work with a team of experts! School staff never seem to have had to change software eg they went from school to school and got SIMs. Where as if you worked in other business you will have changed software.

I believe most of those desk support digital stage boxes. That would also be worth pricing up. Yamaha needs a dante card added to support the network interface.

Desk worth a look yamaha tf1 Soundcraft si impact behringer x32 / compact allen and heath qu 24 I used the Yamaha and the soundcraft I preferred the work flow on the sound craft. A digital desk give you a lot more tools and cost are not much dearer than an analog. It’s really handy to have effects, compressor and gates available.

Generally the pue is much better in cloud providers data centres.
