  1. Indeed - that would make sense!
  2. @Grommit - No worries! @dhicks - Indeed I've noticed the same! I'd have to go with Squid as a cheap option. Bloxx is also good, but rather pricy for most organisations.
  3. Indeed - emailing the reports is the best option. You can even flag it to view later if needed!
  4. Grommit - This has been discussed extensively. Try searching on the forums or trying a site:edugeek.net filtering on Google?
  5. Indeed - MDB's are a bloody nightmare... synchronisation failures! Spelling correction in above post “head” to “heard”! hehe
  6. @djones - cmd /c regedit /s \\servershare\servername\key.reg Is that what you mean?
  7. I've always mapped drives via login scripts, can you do this via startup scripts then? I've never tried!
  8. I'm with you Gecko, I'm not a big fan of Symantec either. I for one have never heard AV causing Hard Drive failures? As stated, don't exclude .doc and .xls!
  9. Same salary for Slough?

    All Users Alias

@gaz350 - you're a legend! Thanks everyone... I'll give this ago. I'll keep you posted. Ok - I have installed Server Tools onto my 'admin client'. Open WGM, select the globe, and select Other, Active Directory and then All Domains. I then receive the following error: "Got unexpected error" "Error of type eDSCannotAccessSession (- 14006) on line 3181 of /SourceCache/ServerManagerApp/ServerManagerApp-230.2.51/PMMUGMainView.mm" When I've managed to get /Active Directory/All Domains it says "Not authenticated". When selecting the pad lock and entering AD domain credentials it fails authentication, along with all other AD and Mac OS X Server account credentials. Have you seen this before?

    All Users Alias

Thanks guys! Looks like the folk before me have done half a job here obviously. Do you have any documents on setting up/ensuring the Mac server is setup with AD? When trying to add an AD group in Workgroup Manager it finds nothing under ActiveDirectory/AllDomains.
  12. Thanks - have checked permissions. All OK.

    All Users Alias

Interestingly there are no groups, nor AD users. Only admin_mac which is our Mac Administration account. They're authenticating against AD though?
  14. Cheers 'ashok'! I'll apply the patch to the problematic server!
  15. Another vote for NetStumbler!
  16. @ ashok - how did it go? Whatever next, I have a new VSS error on a different server now! Here is the Backup Exec error message: Anyone have this message? :S

    All Users Alias

@gaz350 - Yep they're pulling down prefs from workgroup manager I believe - I'll check this. Thanks! @gecko - I have it working for my administration account, likewise for everyone I have shown how to create an Alias for. I would like this automated for everyone, due to endless requests! Thanks guys! I didn't think I had any replies, forget to sign up to the thread I think! I've checked it out, now I notice that there is the user account of the admin in the workgroup manager. That's it, I take this is because all other users are authenticated via AD. How would I manage the dock of all these users? My understanding is I change the preferences on the 'Guest Computers'. Is this correct?
  18. Indeed - James, any luck?
  19. I'd be interested in seeing these in action too. I've setup 2003 here a while ago and am now looking at a possible upgrade. Could I have a few links? Cheers!

    All Users Alias

Morning all, I've a little question, which I'm sure won't be too difficult to solve. As you may be aware I'm relatively new to the OS X environment. I'm currently building our second image of our iMac's. I would like an Alias that connects to a Network Drive Share on all users desktops that login on the iMac's. Is this possible? How do I do it? Thanks for your time!
  21. Indeed another vote for Misco. We've purchased 180 Toshiba Satellite Pro's from them.
  22. I suppose I'm sad too...
  23. Sorry to go off topic slightly - I've been looking at the Mobile Speed Camera Detection GPS receivers, what would you recommend?
  24. Indeed - Ahh it wasn't just me then! *relief*
