I'm an ISA fan too... doesn't require a great spec either!
-
Thanks 'kingswood' - Once I've mounted the drive it's read-only! Not allowing me to replace the file! I'm pretty sure this could be it!
-
Nice idea too.. I prevent Windows Installer. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/gp/89.mspx?mfr=true

I generally use the standard 8GB... never had any problems yet. Again I don't bother pre-allocating.

The DCPROMO wizard will install DNS and configure it when you tell it to do so.
-
You did the tell the wizard to install and configure DNS didn't you?
-
Ah ok - what's the NIC's config? I generally point the DNS to itself. (127.0.0.1) DCPROMO will then configure DNS on the server. I think this works the same way when creating a new domain within an existing forest. Answer to your question - it won't - I don't think the wizard configures that anyway. You'll need to setup the new zone. This will be a replication from your Primary Zone on the new domain controller. I think.
-
Ok - your running DNS on the new domain, on the new domain controller, correct? On your existing DNS server open the DNS MMC and have a look if the new zone for your new domain has appeared.
-
Has your 'top dog' domain DNS server got your new domain zone configured?
-
Are the domain controllers Kerberos records in DNS correct?

Have tried two switches (Cisco Catalyst 3560's series POE) two differnt ones.
-
Indeed - don't remind me! Cheers mate!

Thanks for your input toreldo - every little helps!
-
Thanks torledo - have tried that too... I've taken the image from the Mac again too...
-
@torledo - thanks for your feedback, everything you stated is fine. Have deleted old image, ensured that new image is default and enabled. Have checked the NetBoot service too! Have also erase disk ticked. Yeah installation begins, completes quickly and then says successfully installed, and reboots.

Just trying to push it out to one client at the moment. Will be imaging 20 of them in the end.

The latest version of PDFCreator can be installed on a print server and then shared like a normal networked printer. Sounds like exactly what you're after. http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

Sorry to drag this up again - finally after creating the image, ensuring it's below 50GB enabling and deploying, all went well. However, the client connects to the server pulls the Network Install down, begins the install wizard and then says successfully installed, reboots and the client computer has the same environment as before, thus not pulling the new image down. Anyone seen this, know where I'm going wrong? Cheers!
-
@jmair - why didn't I think of that? Cheers mate! @adamf - guide looks good, I'll run through this in VMware I think. Cheers!
-
I'd be interested in seeing how you've managed this? I've tried to setup similar methods. That guide wouldn't go a miss either!
-
You're absolutely correct.

As said - the security tab should be disabled. Students can't make the permission changes then. There is a GP option to disable it. User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Explorer > “Remove Security tab” > Enabled
-
@tazz exact same scenario here...
-
I would hope they're working again - two years on!
