Do you really want old ram? Go for newer DDR2 if you must, though id take the ddr3 route? Also why not get an ATI radeon 49 series?

I remember i had to change ownership of the images fodler to the fog user account it creates on the linux install.

In theory we replace all laptops and desktops every 3 years, or stretching to 4 for less important. Though due to budget restraints we get what were given. Looks like windows 98 is making a come back...

We had it in one room cus of naff network cards, and another one due to a dodgy switch.

Dodgy bios settings? Or you could take the hdd out and put it another laptop, and then you would know if its the laptop, or just a setting?

Theres a box for enable popup and that is ticked.

Ppopup is just on the C: drive. You can see it running in the right hand corner, but it does not come up when you try and print. I als o gave a student account admin right which did nothing

We use Ppopup.exe to make sure kids dont print out lots of colour, and it normally works. In a new computer suite it doesn't. So we have rebuilt the image, and it will work as an admin but not as a teacher When i print ppopup comes up and asks for a user name and password as supposed to. As a kid nothing. Any got any ideas please?

We had a similar problem with a batch of dodgy network cards if that helps? Replaced them with itnel pro gt 1000s and they worked fine. -

Hi im trying to get some apparently dodgy computers to show there faults and i could really use either a hard drive stress tester or a system stress tester. Anyone know any free software i could download as i haven't found anything Cheers

Yes we have a silly amount. To be fair the 4-5 year old ones are brilliant and don't seem to die, but all of them in the last 2 years or so are awful. We have the stones engineer guy in every week for one reason or another, and he is good, its just the engineer shouldn't have his own tea mug...

May sound stupid but would you consider putting a sp2 install on a machine as a test?

I know this doesn't answer the question but just so you know r2 is only 64 bit, so anything that was running 32 bit may be a bit odd with it.
