For web monitoring a mix of dansguardian with the squid proxy is free, and works rather well. Doesnt take too long to set up. And for software installs can't you just use group policies?

Well with the tablet pc, if all registers are backed up onto it, this could then be used to print from? If you install a couple of printers onto it locally, you can then just take it where ever its needed and print off. Or if all power is off, you then have a backup plan, the tablet itself. Ja?

We have a lower school and an upper school which is seperated by a 1 minute walk. The idea is if fire happens to print them all off at the other site. Though this could be done by printing off at an opposite side of the building to the fire? Or you could download all registers to an iPad or similar device just in case, and no wasting paper!

I did an IT apprenticeship 3 years ago and I thought it was very worthwile. You get paid a pittance, 95 quid a week now i believe, but you get a start in IT. its a brilliant way to start an IT career, and a lot of places around here swear by them Though you do get the odd divvy...

Hello all, I just wondered if it is possible in WSUS to have it turned on, but to only windows update one group of computers and leave the others off, whilst we test it. Is this possible and if so how? Cheers

In the lists folder there is, or should be, a list for controlling access of internet times. It should be in /etc/dansguardian/lists i think.

RAM and HDD are better. Processor is around the same. Though the GFX is worse. I love looking at laptops

I was going to say dell studio until i saw 350 quid . Inspirons pretty good though. Also the new asus line are rather nice?

We get asked this every year. Also we get the student teachers saying i have so and so on my laptop, lets say smartboard, why dont you have it here! Our view is only school laptops get software, nothing else.
