wmi filters do a policy for each start menu apply a windows 8.1 wmi to that policy and a w10 one to that policy

it proves rsop isnt borked which can happen. if you cant run it as a user i suspect you have a policy blocking them from running it

all three main consoles xbox/ps4/switch do have parental controls so you can block games above a certain rating and i think control max hours a day and off times but i havnt used them

i suspect the biggest issue with c64 is that i bet most of the games were published by companies that no longer exist or have been bought so many times over the years even if the game is owned by to pick a random company ubisoft they probably dont know/care

try halo 5 if you have an xbox one x 107gb iirc was ~60 before and theres a fair chance in not going to play it again i just hate deleting stuff so it updates

its possible group policys are blocking users running it its probably worth testing as an admin

either they are failing to be applied or for some reason they are filtered so dont apply eg wmi filters being in a gpo that dosent get the policy. is that logged on as you or the user that has problems? if you run rsop.msc it shows you policies that arnt applied as well and to some degree why though you may have to convert the sid to the name if it diddnt apply. so for mine some say denied wmi filter a lot say denied unknown reason but the one i checked was basically this pc isnt a member of group x so dosent need this printer policy etc adn the rest will be similar

the real ones yeah if youve never had to load software from tape for 20 mins (then find it diddnt like the volume level and dies) its a real shock to the system tbh even if you have nowadays its awful

its uac i believe if you add your account to permissions not a group its part of iirc it works or turn off uac

i think the video i was working with was too short. I tried again with a 4 minute video of footabe from my xbox (even though it was mp4 outputted by microsoft software photos wouldnt see it till id converted it to an mp4 (no idea why but bar the watermark which for testing i can live with its fine) it seemed ok i could add titles even got the 3d working so i affixed a comet to the wing mirror of the car in the video and it followed it fairly well. its not great and does seem to have quirks (like file format issues and you need more than 1 item in a collection to do anything like effects (but you dont need to use all items) but for free its not bad https://1drv.ms/v/s!AroWkVJIqeywhNle1bK-m9iT1_4PKg

im wondering if leaving the xbox stuff in isnt a good idea just for the game bar and recording features

just had a quick play i can get 3d effects to work on preview but as soon as you click save they disappear

the best of it is windows 95/98/me had a way of doing this you could configure a sysprep file that if it was present during install told the machine to install say solitaire or not if the file wasnt there iirc it just installed the default apps. it wouldnt be hard i wouldnt of thought to have a predetermined file you could roll out during deployment that said on initial boot dont install x/y/z as it has to install them as part of the hi were glad youre here junk so surely a config file basically saying no to xbox for example isnt beyond ms

i bet its printing from edge/pdf viewer/modern apps they do not like copiers/printers that need codes the prompt never appears then the screw up the print queue. Ive found 2 workrounds 1 i have a script that deletes all print jobs every 30 mins bit of a brute force approach or remove codes from the printer

at a guess you have inherited permissions that allow users that you dont want permissions to have them (i cant remember which group it is from memory as i alter the default permissions pretty much when i format the drive as it takes less time with 0 data on it)

no point ordering big stuff online unless i know it will be delivered sat/sun as nobody at home and i dont work in the same place every day so while i could pick a school to send it to odds on it would arrive about 5 mins after ive left for the week so just picked it up in game

got an xbox one x last night and spent all evening transferring crud lol. So it would let me use network transfer to take stuff from the external drive id moved to the x to my old console but wouldnt allow me to transfer stuff from the old ones internal drive to the xs internal drive in the end i had to dig out a usb hdd and dump the 80gb or so that way then copy it back off at the other end which when its 120 odd items and for instance how halo 5 supports 4k its 106gb! it takes a while so ive not played a single game on it yet all ive done is copy data and sync my pro controller. Think i may need a permanent big external drive if thats going to be the size of 4k games (current external is a 750 ssd) on the plus side its quite a bit smaller than a launch xbox one and no power brick (yet the box is bigger) and it weight a tonne now to hope theres some decent 4k tvs on sale for black friday (chicken and egg no point having a 4k tv without a source no point having a source without a tv) and just to be really anoying i think the next game i want to get to is the dlc for zero dawn anyway lol
