  1. does it need to be realistic though or just relative to each other? you could have lab test results and course test results so one was a direct comparison one was a more real world result and yes you can tune to a test but you can tune to any test though granted its easier to fudge results on a dyno than driving round milbrook but even then you could just draft other cars or have the ecu know its on a test course by its gps location for example (i believe the nissan gtr does that if it detects your at silverstone say it allows the car to run faster than in central london because it knows its a race circuit
  2. by default windows removes drivers on sysprep but you can tell it not to (i used to do that when i just used wds for imaging set up a laptop install drivers sysprep pull image and then use that image on other laptops and they all had the right drivers in theory you could add the printer manually on your "gold" image (probably via ip so you dont need to add it to domain etc) install the driver and it should survive a reboot/sysprep
  3. but if you cant compare a fiesta with an equivalent kia whats the point of the figures at all as even under real world tests your driving style will alter the results. I know on my petrol cars ive usually been able to beat manufacturer mpg figures often by a decent margin but on dervs i never get close (current car i can get approximately what they state iirc combined is 47mpg i can on a run get 45-46 and mines got a tuning package on it)
  4. i know its a pita but could you bake the drivers into your base image so they are already installed (granted only helps going forwards)
  5. yes you just need to copy the latest adms to a central store usually C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions (if you download the admx files from ms and install it creates a policydefinitions folder in c:\program files . . . just copy that folder across (add office/chrome admx files if needed and job done gpmc on your server can now see policies that are only relevant to win10
  6. the problem is you need a lab test to get a consistent result or simple variables like ambient air temp/pressure/humidity/road temp etc mean you cant compare results. The figures you get dont reflect real world conditions BUT they are a direct comparison with each other which is the best you can hope for or say you test car a on a cold day and iirc the bhp figure will go up compared to car b on a warm day as cold air is more compressible giving you a bit more power (hence intercoolers etc)
  7. it works but everytime the driver is installed on a new pc you get a yellow box popup in the taskbar (unfortunately it dosent open and people dont see/ignore it) and then the driver dosent install. If you click the i want to install it button it works fine but its flipping annoying. Ithink its a signed driver its just not the right type of driver iirc if you look at the print management console theres a column where every other driver says yes riso drivers say no (iirc its packaged)
  8. ok so ive now got a server 2016 vm and 2 win 10 1703 vms. Ive deployed uev settings to one of the vms (the other is going to be used to test transfer but ive not got there yet). i have gpo set up like but the service refuses to start and i get nothing in the folder i specified. It looks like i need templates but im unsure how to get them the docs say it has templates for word etc in it but im stuck event viewer on win 10 pc The UevAgentService service terminated with the following service-specific error: The storage control blocks were destroyed. Windows failed to apply the UEV Policy settings. UEV Policy settings might have its own log file. Please click on the "More information" link. (and of course its a vm i havnt given it any net access)
  9. i wouldnt hold your breath ms want everyone on the latest version of 10 by any means necessary so dont expect features to be available in older versions the answer will always be to upgrade
  10. no the sky is like that here as well more so to the south but its pretty odd looking

i live alone and dont care about the mess as the monitor/dreamcast/snes are all temporary (the monitor less so i keep finding uses for it) so i cba tidying them away to unplug in a few weeks time lol. and if you think thats bad you ought to see the rats nest of cables down the back lol

tbh it would be easier to upgrade my amp to one that supports 4k and has more inputs and ideally one on the front (needs doing at some point anyway as i want a 4k tv but need a 4k source before its worth the effort then need amp/tv so it gets expensive lol) i supose i could unplug the wii-u or these days tbh the digi box as i dont watch much tv. trying to work out whats actually plugged in to the 7 sockets i have (3tv 4 amp) tc digi box/blueray(region free)/wii-u. amp nuc/xbox/switch/ps4 i priced it up at nearer £1200 as i dont really have anything i could reuse i might get away with a psu/case from my old (core 2 duo) but the case has seen better days doors have been pulled off i dont think its usb3 probably will nick its dvd though because why not and possibly one or more of its hdds for reference entertainment unit

OK so tried the PC version of ghost recon over weekend on my laptop. WOW it looks so much better (now granted im comparing a launch style xbox one to a laptop with a 4k screen i7 and gtx 1070) the draw distance is miles better and 60fps at 1080 or 30 at 4k, with vsync enabled no tearing (though i managed to reduce that on the xbox to minimal by turning off smoothflow on the tv) and it just looks so pretty. Since going back to the xbox version (i dont want to redo 30-40 hours of game play) ive noticed things i diddnt before like texture pop you look at a field say and suddenly theres the grass etc. Now granted i only played the pc version for maybe an hour and i played with controller (to some degree to play as like for like as i could and because i dont really want to go back to mouse/kb) but even though the game crashed once and i think that may of been because i changed way too many options at once i preferred it on PC. This leaves me with something to think about. option 1 do nowt and live with it lol option2 I imagine going forwards an xbox one x would actually solve a lot of these issues by being about 4x as powerful and i can simply swap the cables over in my entertainment centre with minimal effort but its still an xbox and can only run xbox games. option 3 I could just plug in my laptop but that would require unplugging something else and probably a lot of faffing round with cabling and i cant leave it there 24/7 so a bit of a pita. option 4 i could build a gaming rig but that would require a major amount of faffing with the entertainment centre (though i could remove my nuc as i dont need 2 pcs on 1 tv really) i would probably physically have to move lots of stuff unless i can build the rig into a desktop case rather than a tower i could probably leave the xbox where it is for older games but most xbox exclusives come crossplay so i can play on pc opens up steam to me as well i think im leaning towards option 2 as frankly it the easiest option and short of doing nowt an xbox one x is probably going to cost less than 1/2 as much as a decent rig
  14. but here my issue with some of the placements car parks in city centre fine makes sense as does hotels, airports and service stations on the motorway i can even understand why they have them at ikea but asda etc dosent make sense to me most people go to their local supermarket shouldnt really require any sort of top up and im going to guess if youre on the m62 say you dont want to divert to a supermarket to charge when you are just passing the area as yo will have naff all to do while you wait

incase anyone is interested ghost recon wildlands is free this weekend so im going to try the pc version out of curiosity before going back to the xbox
  16. fair enough its not even entertaining
  17. i wouldnt take top gear as a serious source of information it was probably over played for entertainment
  18. i disagree still it still costs me less to run my 1.6 turbo petrol than to replace it with a leaf say the leasing costs are more than what i spend in fuel range is still an issue and the cheapest leaf i can see on autotrader is 7k (ish) and you still probably have to pay battery lease on that. yes in the future electric cars may be the best option we arnt there yet and just in terms of infrastructure i dont see the investment needed in the next 5 years happening. as to oxford if its like most cities you dont want to drive in them anyway just use park and ride problem basically solved
  19. but even then would probably mean having to stay overnight somewhere last time i went (previous car so eco derv) i got there and back on 1 tank of fuel(and did a week of normal driving) so 0 stops if i had to stop for say half our each way it makes it nigh on impossible in a day i doubt we will get the chevy bolt now that vauxhell/open is owned by psa not gm theres no reason for them to sell it here and no dealers to sell it through
  20. by offline do you just mean as printers can you still ping them/get to the web interface? if so ive seen poor snmp implementations cause this try disabling it on the printer/driver settings
  21. that means moving though its not worth it atm lol
  22. hmmm updated same install files as i tested with and the options not there i suspect because i tested on server 2016 hmm oh well to vms i go i can fire up a 2016 vm on my laptop at some point
  23. on the pc with wadk on server 2012r2 im just updating it now as why not its been a quiet morning and i tried installing the 1703 version on a n other server and it showed uev (diddnt actually install just ran and cancelled out) again not that im going to run it live im going to do some vm testing but uev looks like being useful and certainly worth investigating it wasnt listed under change either
  24. on the plus side depreciation will probably not be much of an issue lol
  25. i have that must be an older version (progs and features says 10.1.10586.0) edit found a version labelled 1703 on my pendrive
