I'm assuming you're doing a policy per OU, with different printers per OU? Could you have a delete record for each other printer in the policy that applies the correct ones? (might not be very graceful, but worth a test perhaps)

you've gotta learn to live with the fact that after you've shown a member of staff what they've done/are doing incorrectly, they'll reply "well, why has it done that?" ..cause it can't be possibly be them at fault ;-)

yep, as @bossman says there's tax implications. there's also the issue that there's 'those' members of staff, that regardless of what they've signed will badger you to look at it once they've fouled it up royally. not worth the agro, save yourself the headache

Infrastructure, infrastructure, infrastructure. Yes the iPads/voting devices/shiny sparkly thing will be very pretty - but can the network support them? (and what is the benefit of having them, more to the point? buying shinyshiny might *look* good, but each piece of hardware needs a reason to be there) There needs to be a sustainable network backbone for these thing. iPads for instance can only be really useful if there's a managed wireless network in place, with a good solid switching backbone behind that. What about the inevitable printing questions? storage for documents? charging? I'd say the first step is fact finding. Speak to the techs at the school, get an idea of the state of the network. Then maybe speak to some teachers and see what they feel would be useful IT wise. Basically, I have two main points: 1. toys are useless without the infrastructure to support them 2. to *actually* improve T&L (not to mention marketing etc as mentioned), getting an idea/strategy is only useful if you know what problem you're trying to fix. going as an exhibitor I'd say insoles as well as comfy soles - your feet will seriously ache after a few days. as above, throat sweets are important. I also keep a tube of Berocca on hand to perk you up in the morning. Clothing with pockets or a bag you can easily carry round is handy. between getting a bajillion business cards (plus giving them out) and cool freebies - you can soon get weighed down. In this instance, having a power brick per phone is an extra level of complexity you do not need, as it provides you with no extra redundancy. POE is absolutely the way to go - just make sure, as others have said, that you've an acceptable level of support for it in place.

Well then a power brick per phone is one MORE point of failure, not less. I guess what I'm trying to say is - if the switch is down, you're not getting phone calls. It doesn't matter where the handsets get their power from.

Er...if they're VOIP, and the switch goes down, then regardless of how they're powered they're not gonna be passing any voice traffic anyway?

Yep, sure is. We've got controller and AP in different office/subnets here. We've a VLAN for wireless traffic that goes to our firewall. And another for wifi management traffic that links the APs and Zonedirector. B00sh
