The question marks would imply it's a question...not a statement. I'd also ask, do you have access to the management console for the Cisco kit? And the switches? I ask because there may be a VLAN setup for the wireless traffic; If so,you'd need to ensure any additional APs have access to the same VLAN to be able to communicate with the controller, etc.

The recommendation is to keep everything patched to the same level. I wouldn't wanna risk it.

be aware, if you've Forefront for exchange running you'd be best of stopping the service before the upgrade. I can't remember if they fixed it, but earlier upgrades used to hose the transport service if it was upgraded with FEP running.
