We are experiencing some difficulties with our new Dynamics service desk software in that it is "losing" cases & customer updates to cases. Now that we are aware of this problem we are running reports to find these missing items. The service desk will be working this weekend to clear any backlogs and the MIS team will be working to try and eliminate the problem. Should you feel that your case has not had the attention that it should please email the appropriate desk manager details of which can be found in SupportNet's "Sticky Items".

Discover should run on Terminal Services. Please log a call if you need help as this is way beyond my skillset!

We were hoping to get this into autumn but have moved it to spring.

We've thought of that - you get the manual that applies to the version of SIMS you are running. This change will vastly decrease the upgrade package size. The manuals include links to video demos.

You can read exam results straight back into SIMS from the exam board results files - I'm fairly sure you can do this even if you didn't enter throug SIMS.

@Eric_Bisto Feel free to get in touch or email one of the support desk managers - details are on SupportNet under sticky items. Our new system isn't without issues so its possible that your case is being updated but you can't see the details. What ever it is please get in touch and we'll check things out.

Only the LA is able to supply FSM info which comes from a government database. The government does not allow schools to receive this information directly even if they are an academy.

Whilst I can protest at your suggestion @matt40k you won't believe me! The market for apps supports my view I think - why would developers allow Apple to take 30% of the app revenue if they could produce an HTML5 one (and hope it works on all devices) and sell it directly?

So if apps are old hat how come there are apps for Twitter, Facebook,Weather, iPlayer - you name it. It's because the user experience is superior everytime. That's why there is a massive market for apps.

@Achandler thanks for letting me know. I'll still look into this as although we've had a few difficulties with our case management system I was under the impression that things were under control.

@theScafedOne - our desk will always try to reslove these issues. Your support unit should be your first port of call and that could be your LA or us.

Pretty well the whole of SIMS will run unaltered and very well on iPads under Citrix. The autumn release of SLG improves the "touch" experience for teachers using iPads. Then there is SIMS Emerge.

I've just had more detail: To further expand, any changes concerning the background would need to be made within the theme.css file, every theme in Sharepoint will have one of these file included in its containing sub folder. Basically the theme.css is where all the presentational stuff like colours and images are placed whereas the master page is where all the layout and content comes from. To change the background they would need to edit ethier the “body” or “.ms-main” element within the css file.

Richard I'm told that you have to go into the CSS file and edit the settings. If you are supported by us I'm sure our desk would be able to assist.

FN-GM - the training database (& materials) is maintained by a dedicated team its being updated daily. This is paid for by the support team charge so it wouldn't be fair to give it away to others.

I'm afraid that we supply the Green Abbey training data under contract to support units.

@matt40k Thanks for that useful suggestion but no we won't be doing that!

@TheScarfedOne - struggling to find anyone that knows too much about T4 at the moment!

We have both so I feel free to comment. Apps are what have driven the iPad & Android devices to become super successful. Apps win everytime over browsers.
