Pease log a case if you haven't done so already. We looked into a few printing issues such as not picking up default printer and fixed them. I would strongly recommend using BACS rather than cheques; it will save a secondary ~£1000/year not to mention time saved in people signing cheques.

The other thing that you should look at are the home page panels - one of these shows achievements/behaviour year to date today etc. It can be customised for a tutor, year or house head depending on the group of children you are interested in.

CTF10 spec says parental responsibility + soical worker. CTF11 says everyone. SIMS goes to CTF11 in the autumn release.

I'm pretty certain that our CTF output does what is legally required of it. CTF is a standard output that meets DfE standards - there is no flexibility.

Just to let you know, bulk editing of Result Sets will be standard in Assessment Manager from the autumn release. This is a change requested by our Indy Strategy Group.

You'd never know it from this thread but around 60% of academies have chosen FMS.

They have probably marked as leavers. Marksheets show pupils for at least 30 days afterwards so that reports can be written.

Discover shouldn't kill servers - the data is optimised for reporting. The front end can be heavy.

I think its unrealistic to expect someone that has technical skills to have an understanding of say all finance and exam procedures.

@pantscat - absolutely right. I felt that the answers coming in were bluring the technical task of running the MIS (back-up, upgrade, add columns) with people's jobs such as exam officer using the MIS. I think its important that the data management role is shared widely to prevent things falling appart when the expert leaves. A secondary should ideally have more than one person involved in each major area i.e. exams, assessment, reporting.

I think the question should be around how many people's roles are served by the MIS.

I still think that this would work in terms of being informed of changing patterns of attendance around a threshold. I'll speak to the team about non integers; I suspect the problem is keeping Discover as simple as possible and as soon as you require the user to type something in you've lost it!

Discover may be able to assist you here. Dynamic groups can be formed using a variety of critera so for example <93% attendance. You can then ask SIMS to send a message whenever a child enters or leaves that group so you don't have to go looking. Dynamic groups are available in Assessment Manager and the Report Generator so you can construct really comlplex queries visually and then use the result to filter lists.

From our point of view you should be OK to run with it. It is part of the curriculum suite. It could be your local team needs a little more time or they are waiting for the autumn release as this makes installs easier.

LAs that host SIMS aren't able to go live until the autumn release - that could be the problem.

It seems to me that you are trying to combine two things together than cannot be done i.e. a single mark to do lesson and reg but at different times. Since most staff will not have taken the mark until 5 minutes into the lesson you are concerned about 10 minutes. If a child leaves in that 10 minutes you could ask the office to make them absent or indeed change the mark in the classroom.

Most primary schools use SLG supplied via their LA which is a very cost effective way of it being delivered. The videos are about the effect of the software not what it looks like - BTW anyone that thinks a school head would say what they have been asked to by a company is not living in the same world as me.
