  1. Port is 80 :-( and with the suggestion about the different virtual directory wouldn't this still be able to access 127.0.0.1 if I'd got everything set up properly?
  2. http//localserver shows website under construction page, 127.0.0.1 shows previously mentioned error, and in IIS the website is shown as running...
  3. http://127.0.0.1 cannot be found, but would this be the correct IP as I've already given it a static ip of 10.128.8.68? Thanks Laura
  4. eclipse.net and I agree with the ALAN testing!!
  5. Installed server 2003 on a big old monster of a machine. Installed liberum on here, with sql server 2005 and got liberum working on a virtual website, but I've put a post in the server forum as I didn't think it belonged in here, all about how stupid I'm being in actually using Liberum as a web based helpdesk now I've got it installed. I don't really understand what I'm configuring the server as. So I'll leave it to the people on the server bit of the forums to tell me in primary school terms what I'm doing. Grr why can't I just be born with the knowledge I need!
  6. I'm sorry to have to ask this but... I'm trying to set up an internal (eventually external too) helpdesk. I've set up Liberum Helpdesk on a machine I've built with Server 2003. I've got it all running fine on a virtual website on the IIS of this server. All I want to do is to be able to either... Link this into our network so I can just put a link into our users' start menu...and eventually (This is the and/or bit), integrate it with our school website. I would like to keep this running on this server due to space issues and also to keep it seperate. I've given it an IP address, but this is where my knowledge fails me drastically because I recieve the error 'Name Error: The domain name does not exist. 'when I try and access the IP address. Can I link this to our web server so that it can redirect users to the helpdesk? And if not how can I just make this server accessible as a link in our program sets so they can log into the helpdesk? Sorry I know it's a beginner question... Thanks for reading this anyway and thank you in anticipation of any help offered!! Laura
  7. Hi, we have done all of those, however no matter what on the current server state we won't be able to install SQL server because of the installation on C:. So there goes Liberum...unless anyone knows how to correct me on being stupid and not knowing how to use it with the express edition??
  8. I don't think this has been addressed in any other thread so I'll start this one...sorry if you think it has. We're a school running CC3. On CC3, as anyone who's encountered this before, there is a space issue with the C: drive where you can only size it at 12GB, as a school we are struggling to keep this anywhere near 1GB free. We can't really have any more servers with budget constraints - I'm trying to build one on an old machine but it might not work, so.... I can't install SQL server on our servers because unless I mess around with the server registry which I don't really want to do during term time just for a helpdesk, so because even if you set the installable options of sql to install on a different drive it still installs a massive portion on C. I also can't install office on the servers either as per space issue, so there's access out the window. The above came as a result of trying to install Liberum, which uses Access or SQL. I have two questions (eventually got there!!) Does anyone have any good helpdesk solutions (free) that they could recommend OR Does anyone have any solutions for a workaround for the SQL issue (I understand Liberum works faster with SQL) Oh, one more this - I have SQL Express Manager on one of the servers, but am not sure how the query would tie in to the Liberum setup. I know this is a Liberum issue, but if anyone could offer any advice that would be lovely. I have posted that in the Liberum forums by the way, but they aren't half as good at offering advice as you guys are on here Sorry if this is a really stupid post, but my brain is frazzled at the moment. Thanks for sticking with it and reading this far!! Laura
  9. Yay fixed - sound driver reinstalled. Weird! Thanks Everyone!
  10. Oh and it 'was working this morning' so guess its more likely driver than otherwise.. Still darent go up but thanks so far...
  11. It was through a variety of players - first through youtube, then through itunes, then just the ding from the volume control. I should have thought of the sound driver...I'll go and reinstall it when the coast is clear. I feel awful! How do you cheer up upset teachers who are on the edge - I'm not exactly an ogre but I feel like one now!!
  12. Said teacher just burst into tears. Oh dear. Thanks for the posts guys, very helpful on making ME smile a little bit, but any input on any ideas of fixes? I take it by joke responses I am doing something stupid...or noone knows the answer - there's noone else on google who even mentions anything similar. Stupid grrrr
  13. I have a crazy teacher at the school. The speakers spookily blew completely on their own (HA) We have new ones on order to be fitted. This particular member of staff needs 4, maybe 5 visits a day to keep her happy. ANYWAY The most recent thing is that when teacher tries to play any sound from the PC on a set of temporary speakers, the sound won't play...UNLESS I click the mouse - it won't play more than say, half a second, but it plays!! So if I constantly clicked the mouse it would play constant sound....Am I going crazy? Or could anyone help me? Said teacher is getting verrry agitated any I can't work it out!!
  14. It sounds like he rang the emergency service, said he wasn't injured, so the police therefore don't blue light out - they only do to injured parties. You should report crashes seperately to the police station for non injured parties. They respond to take a survey of damaged roadside furniture.
  15. The police aren't psychic, you actually have to call them to let them know a crash has happened? Or just rely on someone else to do it for you... No Offence to the injured party, just the anti police loons who always jump on the wagon to slate the force that keeps our country in order...
  16. Thanks, I looked at the settings in there, I can't find anything apart from visibility...I think it must be the newsticker not the navigation bar. unless there is a setting to show priority of displaying the navigation links over everything else??
  17. Yep thats the one!
  18. no it's the main menu for linking to other pages that stretches across the top(like the news, forums, chat bit along the top of this page - if that had a drop down function it would be hiding behind the VLE bar now...happens in firefox, chrome and ie.
  19. I have just been handed the school VLE. Having never used sharepoint ever before, I am trying to get to grips with it. My first problem is simple the drop down menu which is applied to every page. This doesn't drop down on some pages, on the home page it hides some bite behind the newsticker which displays beneath. Basically I feel like I'm holding an angry kitten which could bite me at any point - if the pages all go wrong it will be my point. So if anyone has any ideas of how I can make a start to either understand sharepoint until I talk my way onto a training course, or just to change the settings on the main menu so the drop down doesnt hide, or at least drops down on evey page I would be a little bit happier. Thanks Laura
  20. I myself am wearing a little black dress with sequinned shoulders... Ooh but I just googled what to wear to a christmas works do and got the following http://www.kareen.co.uk/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/elf1-494x1024.jpg
  21. I can do a Mrs Claus? I would be Santa every year if it weren't for the gender restriction....
  22. Oh, and it hasnt happened with the new users recently, seems to just start affecting some users randomly. I havnt tried deleting the application data, will do that this morning. The issue folows them round, hence the earlier comment of it being user specific...
  23. yes done health check and reset while theyre not logged on, makes no difference.. Oops duplicate from earlier.. I might get on to county, this issue seems to be affecting various kids, and we all know what they can be like about reporting problems..also if this is an ongoing issue now, which it seems it is going to be, I would rather get this solved rather than have to create a new user every time this happens, and find the cause so that I can fix it rather than just have a temporary workaround! Thanks, Laura
  24. yep tried that! Reset profile, Health Check etc, no difference. There doesnt seem to be a way to change this dnszone issue. We should only have 2 domains!
  25. Hi Michael, It is user specific on the network, following the user around the school and allocating some printers randomly to users which seem to be assigned to specific DNS subdomain, which is not mirrored in the management console -the printers are all tested and working normally with people who are on the correct dns set Thanks anyway Laura
