To resurrect this thread yet again have you had any joy with finding out if there's any way to MAC filter on one network and not the other? And if not, have you set up the separate Public SSID successfully - and how? Just something we're looking at doing, would be helpful to know... Thanks
-
It's only been some users - and was going straight to our filtering page for them. but gstatic.com/images to allowed list solved it cheers :-)

I'm having an issue that I'm not getting anywhere with support on, and now I'm getting it in the neck from a few teachers. Probably 70% of users can access Google Images fine, but people in the same AD Group as users not experiencing the problem, on the same Machine, are getting filtered with Google Images. I've empties the cahce, reset profiles, reinstalled SmartCache Client on these machines, no joy...I also tried changing usertype to staff in case these students were picking up a problem from their usertype to no joy. Our list blocking it is 'Content Filter' if that helps? I can't find this filter to view it, guessing it's a default RM one... Anyone with ANY ideas would make me extremely happy, Thanks, Laura

Riiight. So...We lost the SAN drive today. I'm a complete novice on this SAN thingy at the moment. BUT. As we had our H: drive mapped for our user accounts, and this drive appeared today as corrupt due to a misdemeanor (we think someone may have disk checked our SAN(!). As I can still see the volumes from before that were set up is there any way that we could now explore these volumes? Apologies if I'm asking a really dumb question, but I've been staring at a white wall for the past three weeks and my brain is fried. Also if anyone knows of any decent SAN guidance for dummies (and also some info on snapshots - whats all this number of snapshots... etc) I would be incredibly grateful for a nudge in that direction. Thanks in advance!! Laura

Thanks Richard, I had a look at your photo extractor earlier - nice!

How far do you travel to work, how long does it take?
ljlbray replied to jonny_2010's topic in Educational IT Jobs
Why does it take you 50 steps then if you're at home? For me, Train - 16 minutes walk either side of the station and 8 minutes actually on the train... Car - between 12 and 35 minutes depending on lights and traffic... Bike - about an hour... -
Just cuz I can't find this ANYWHERE on the reporting section on SIMS.net... Does anyone know a quick way of exporting Staff Codes from SIMS.net? preferably along with surname, forename... Thanks :-) Laura

Just in case anyone else has this problem in the future, At the problem server, browse to the folder - D:\RMNetwork\Server\Tools\RM User Manager\\ Right-click the file RM User Manager.MSI and choose uninstall. Once RM User Manager is uninstalled, right-click the MSI and choose Install. Follow the onscreen instructions. Repeat the above steps to uninstall and install the folders Management Tool Security and Management Tool Security Configuration.

I probably should have mentioned it's a problem stemming from this thread, but not the same issue and it's just me in to get the system back now so I've started it in this thread... Basically to recreate the shares the drives have been restored. I just reallocated H: to a restore onto a partition called X:, then changed the drive letter to H: as suggested in the reply to previous thread. The users are back. Phew. And can log on, and have the right GPOs. However, I noticed that there's no package control in D: anymore, and seems to have been missing off all recent backups. I can get it off a backup about a month back, but we've rebuilt some of the machines over the summer. However, they have the same packages and names applied, so I restored this folder(maybe mistakenly) Now I have locations under the treeview, but get the ERROR: Failed to obtain the StationParams from the RLN Conversation. The Error was '(0xe0001b68) when I click on a location (but only on one server or the three CC3 servers, the other two still show nothing under a location, and the users don't appear on these two) Accessing the web interface of the management console from a domain machine now points you to the easylink website?!? Should I reinstall the management console? The workstations are all showing properly in active directory - is there any way of just dragging the info from Active Directoy to the management console? I thought it replicated when you health checked, but health checking doesn't seem to do anything to the workstations, probably because the management console can't access them properly! I have contacted RM about this, but I have users knocking on the door, and I'm trying to piece together how the system got to this point and what could be missing! Nightmare... Thanks, Laura

On our RM CC3 network, after losing all our shares after an iSCSI discovery issue with our new SAN, I now get the following when trying to open the user node after recovering the H drive... Error The response from the server was not valid xml: System does not support the specific encoding. This doesn't show anything under users after clicking ok to this. The management console is running very slowly on start and I also have no workstations showing in the domain, whether under locations (which are showing but with nothing in them), or by searching for workstations. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas while I'm waiting to hear from RM, as September is getting closer by the minute. Everything looks ok in Active directory, and the shares seem ok on the folders... Thanks, Laura

net share > c:\shares.txt not creating txt file
ljlbray replied to ljlbray's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
when I try either of these a blank dialogue box flashes up and closes straight away. net share on its own doesnt pull up anything either, I am doing this on a server, remoting in. The %temp just shows that it can't be accessed... I am logged on as administrator too!! -
Hello All, Is there any reason anyone knows of that would stop net share > c:\shares.txt creating the txt file? All I want to see is our shares...I'm on an RM CC3 network, running Server 2003 - does anyone have a workaround, fix, or alternative for viewing shares? Thanks, Laura

Completely putting myself in the firing line, I've been bought up vegetarian, so never ate meat, and obviously didn't really consider it much. So I never questioned my dad when he told me animals are made up of meat, muscle, bone, fat and gristle. What was originally said to make me feel better about trying to start eating meat made me look very silly in biology. I should have learnt to question him after the other kids told me that the ice cream van wasn't empty when the music was playing...

An idea has been presented to me by a teacher... They want to build a 'virtual school' as part of our website. I've created a virtual staffroom for the school anyway, but that was only basic image mapping. Could I use image mapping as I have previously and add animations on rollover? Say, a collection of around 20 image maps linking to each other through a central 'corridor'? If so, how can I go about learning how to put these animations on a rollover, previously I've only got as far as an image swap, I'm trying to understand how to use what type of animation... Or am I thinking completely along the wrong lines, I don't want to spend days on this, but it seems like it could be quite simple or extremely complicated!!! If anyone could share any ideas on how the best way for me to do this would be I will be EXTREMELY greatful!!! Thanks Laura

if your fone contract's due you could do what I did and get one free on a contract? I used affordablemobiles.co.uk which meant I didn't have to buy one. Admittedly now I wish I'd got an iphone, but I assumed that a smartphone+ipod touch=iphone, and with my clumsy tendancies at least I don't lose both. But I shall be getting the iphone 4...

We had Avervision Visualisers at the last school I worked at. Easy to use and not requiring a computer if they don't like or want to - bit like a fancy ohp I know, but they did get a lot of use in the English department, were useful in sharing passages with the class when there was only one copy of the book, and the software was easy to use to annotate, highlight sections, whatever else they wanted to do with it. Thats all I can think of hardware wise.
